We walked towards the green forest just right past the golems city. The roads in the forest lead dipper and dipper. The forest was full of monsters larking around.
"There! We can hide in here for the time being"
Kyoko exclaimed as she proceeded near some bushes.
Kyoko's plan was simple, we were going to ambush the demons. The mint vili berries were a rare species of fruit. It is only found in the deep underwold. Which is located beneath the Eath.
Since these berries only grow in the depths of the underworld, it is very hard to come by them. One of the main reasons why demons came over the Earth surface from the underworld was because of these berries. Though not the biggest reason, but this fruit has killed countless demons in the underworld.
An information like this is not available here, I wonder where did Kyoko got it from.
"Ok let's mash this up and Tremious, we will be depending on you to provide a shield for us"
"Hmm"
Tremious casted a shield on us, so that we don't die from the villi berries. He was only going to help us from the sidelines. While Dermis would be the distraction, in the meantime I would free the captivated creatures. And lastly, Kyoko would shoot her arrows that contain the small piece of berry at the end.
We prepared ourselves while hiding behind the bushes and kept a close eye on the road in-between the forest.
'thick thick thick'
The sound of a creatures like a horse was coming near us.
In a moment, a wagon started to come towards the road. The drivers of the wagon were two demons, just like Mavlis said. The horse type demon monsters were pulling the wagon, and inside I could see some creatures. They were probably caught by these demons.
"Prepare yourselves" Kyoko whispered to us.
I took my position as planned. I could feel a cold sweat dripping down my back while my heart beat raised. I was extremely scared and nervous. Unlinke in dragons layer, this time I knew I might have to fight. The fight wouldn't even be fair, these demons were too strong. If those demons merely clawed me, I would be dead.
A demon species lives ateast 50,000 years. It is less than a dragon but they are sometimes stronger than them. A demon is born with a high amount of a different mana. The mana is almost to the amount of mana a golem saves up in their entire life. A demon can be recognized by their horns. No creature have horns except for them. So anything with horns is classified as a demon.
The demons in this wagon have an animal face. One has the face of a horse with two giant horns and a bulky body. The other had a face of a hippo with five horns sticking out of its face. They wore clothes that many human slave owners wore.
My thoughts were interrupted by Dermis, who now bravely stood in front of the wagon.
The demons looked pissed and confused.
"Release those creatures "
The demons bursted out laughing by Dermis's serious remark.
"And why would we listen to a puiny elf"
The horse demon said in an ugly manner, these demons were looking down on Dermis. And again, this act was an opening just like with the yellow dragon.
"If you don't release them, you will regret it"
'Puhahaha'
"You dare challenge a demon?"
"Are you scared?"
Dermis's mockery irritated the demons, as they leaped towards Dermis. Dermis made a run for it according to the plan.
To be honest, his role was the most scariest. If the demons catch him, he will be dead meat. Even though he knew this, he still volunteered to have this role. Sometimes this guy seems very remarkable and cool.
The demons got away from the wagon, I quickly went into action. Although my hands trembled like crazy, I knew I couldn't miss this chance.
I ran forward to the wagon and saw a very depressing sight. However I managed to grip myself and started untying the captives. They all looked drained out.
There were few golems and demi humans...and a small human.
"Give me your hands kid, I will untie you"
The little frail boy looked up and leaned his two hands towards me. I quickly untied him and gushed out to the others.
"Run! They will be back soon!"
The creatures ran for their lives and I got up to leave the wagon. Suddenly, the frail boy grabbed onto my cloth.
"You're free now, go. I need to help my companions"
I quickly got away from the boy and started heading towards where Dermis went. It seems that Kyoko had already followed him. I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about Dermis.

I managed to make the two demons follow me and with the corner of my eye I could see Kyoko following behind me. Tremious kept the shield on from behind the bushes and Anal went to the wagon. All was going according to the plan.
I ran till we came to the designated area. It was an open field in the middle of the forest. The demons swang their spikey clubs at me while roaring.
"Ahhhhhhh"
I managed to dodge the attack but the hippo demon's club hit me right in my stomach.
'eghhh' I groaned in pain, but now it wasn't the time for that.
I managed to get up and grab onto my new claymore. I swang my claymore at them but obviously it had little to no effect. But the paln wasn't to fight them. The plan was to make an opening for Kyoko to shoot at them.
"Kyoko Now!!!!"

Dermis swung his sword and managed to hit the face of the horse demon. The horse demon's face titled towards the direction of where Kyoko's was coming from. Kyoko took the chance and aimed at his face.
The arrow that carried the little berry flew towards the giant face of the horse.
'uhhhh'
"What did you do??!!"
The horse demon roared in pain and within a few minutes, he fell to the ground.
The hippo demon realized what was happening and his large club swang hard and hit Kyoko in the head.
Blood rushed down from her forehead as she laid in my arms. She was unconscious.
This is bad!! Now who would shoot the arrow?!?
I glanced back at Dermis who was desperately trying to dodge the hippo demon's attack. And each time, he became slowerw and slower.
(This won't do....)
I thought to myself as I bit my lips and got up holding my spear tightly.
I picked a berry in my hand and ran forward without a second thought.
Dermis mange to slice the hippo's hand but it regenerated within seconds. I ran forward and aimed my sword at it's face. But it's claw was faster and it pierced my skin.
I groaned in pain but got up. Meanwhile the club hit Dermis in the stomach again and he flew towards the forest.
Now the demon's attention was on me. I grabbed onto my spear tightly, looking for an opening. With my final desperate attack, I swang the spear with the remaining mana I had. The spear made through it's flesh.
For a moment I gave a slight laugh thinking I might have defeated it. Still, I was wrong.
The hippo demon came near me with a pissed face as it looked like it would chew me alive. I clenched my fist and gritted my teeth. Sweat flew down my face and my heart told me to prepare myself to take a blow.
The demon finally swang his club at me and I closed my eyes tightly.
Immediately a small figure came in front of me. It was the small frail boy, who now was spreading his arms out in order to defend me. He's crazy, he would die!!!!!
'ttttttkkkkkk'
A large amount of red mana came out from behind me, as Tremious popped in front of me and the human child.
The demon got distracted by Tremious's mana and I took my chance.
I ran towards the demon while holding the little berry in my hand. I jumped as high as I could and then.... shoved that piece of berry in it's mouth.
Fortunately the berry took affect instantly. It coughed up blood and foam flowed out of it's mouth. It was unconscious.

Her eyes started to open, as Anal called out to her.
"Kyoko, Kyoko. Are you okay"
She got up and grabbed her head in pain. As she finally managed to get up, she spotted the two demons lying on the ground.
It was confusing but she was glad her companions weren't badly hurt.
Dermis laid on his back as Anal was treating him. Just beside Anal, the small frail boy sat close to her. He grabbed onto her cloth and didn't let go. Dermis manged to get up. The three of them got pretty hurt but were okay nonetheless.

"Thanks again"
"What are you talking about"
I thanked Tremious in gratitude and he looked like he didn't care. I was saved by this guy two times already.
"Anyway thank you again"
I smiled at him.
Meanwhile Dermis and Kyoko were discussing something.
"So which one should we take for interrogation?"
"Let's take the horse one, it gave a less hard time"
"You're are probably right Kyoko"
"Now the question is, who will kill it...."
Kyoko looked over others nervously, I looked away as it was hard for me to do that.
'stab'
Me and Kyoko looked at him with wide eyes.
"You don't have to feel remorse in this, a demon with no feelings don't deserve to live. It's so obvious"
Dermis said as he pulled out the claymore from the hippo's heart.
He was right on this, a demon didn't deserve to live. However, I still couldn't do it.
