Lyra's mind was still reeling from the meeting with Ambassador Kael. She couldn't believe the director had paired her with an alien ambassador to investigate the signal. As they walked out of the director's office, Lyra turned to Kael.
"Shall we get started, Ambassador?" Lyra asked, trying to sound professional.
"Please, call me Kael," he replied with a smile. "We can dispense with formalities for now."
Lyra nodded, feeling a sense of unease. She didn't know much about Kael or the Xanthean Empire, and she wasn't sure if she could trust him.
As they walked to the conference room, Lyra asked, "So, Kael, what do you know about the signal?"
"Not much, I'm afraid," Kael replied. "But I'm eager to learn more. Perhaps we can start by reviewing the data you've collected?"
Lyra nodded, pulling out her data pad. "I've brought all the relevant information. Let's take a look."
As they sat down at the conference table, Lyra began to explain the signal's characteristics and the data they had collected so far. Kael listened intently, asking thoughtful questions and making notes on his own data pad.
Lyra was impressed by Kael's intelligence and curiosity. Despite her initial reservations, she found herself feeling more at ease in his presence.
But as they worked together, Lyra couldn't shake the feeling that Kael was hiding something. She noticed that he seemed particularly interested in the signal's pattern and frequency.
"Kael, can I ask you something?" Lyra said, looking up from her data pad.
"Of course," Kael replied, meeting her gaze.
"What do you think the signal might be? Do you have any theories?"
Kael's expression turned thoughtful. "I think it's possible that the signal is a message from an unknown source. But I also think it's possible that it's something more... complex."
Lyra's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean by 'complex'?"
Kael leaned forward, his eyes locked onto hers. "I mean that the signal might be more than just a simple message. It might be a key to unlocking a much larger mystery."
Lyra's heart skipped a beat. What did Kael mean? And what kind of mystery could the signal possibly be connected to?
As they continued to discuss the signal, Lyra found herself feeling drawn to Kael's enigmatic nature. She was determined to uncover the truth about the signal, and she was glad to have Kael's help.
But as the meeting came to a close, Lyra couldn't help but wonder what secrets Kael might be keeping. And what lay ahead for them in their investigation?
