Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Deducing the Special Job Class [Valkyrie]!

Chapter 11: Deducing the Special Job Class [Valkyrie]!

November 18, 2024 Author: Amnesty L

[Asura], [Valkyrie], and [Catastrophe Apostle].

Among these three special job classes, Tang Zheng's initial target was [Catastrophe Apostle].

Mare was a dark elf, a human subspecies, so he had no racial classes. His entire level 100 build was composed of job classes. This also meant that this special job class had no racial prerequisites. Tang Zheng had a good amount of information on Mare's job classes, and with the leeway provided by the 'Genius' class, he might be able to deduce the [Catastrophe Apostle] special job class from scratch, even at the cost of wasting one or two intermediate job classes.

As for the other two.

[Asura] was a special job class mastered by Cocytus. Tang Zheng had specifically researched these special job classes. Based on the limited information from Cocytus's attribute sheet, the [Asura] class seemed to have no obvious connection to his job build. He suspected that this special job class must have been obtained through some kind of special item.

And [Valkyrie].

In the anime and light novels, there were currently two individuals who possessed this class: one was Shalltear, and the other was Zesshi Zetsumei. Both of them were female. Tang Zheng had to guess that this was a special job class only obtainable by females.

With this information clear, Tang Zheng could only focus his goal on [Catastrophe Apostle]. However, the appearance of the "Priestess" might have just granted him a "female character buff."

Therefore! He might be able to acquire the [Valkyrie] special job class.

"The job build for Shalltear's [Valkyrie] is much clearer than Mare's [Catastrophe Apostle]."

Tang Zheng took a deep breath, recalling the information about Shalltear as he raised a finger and began sketching on the ground. As one of only two characters, besides the Bone King, who appeared most frequently in the anime and light novels, the information revealed about her was naturally the most abundant.

Shalltear's level structure was:

Racial Level 20 + Job Level 80 = Overall Level 100.

The job classes revealed on her attribute sheet were:

Valkyrie/Lance Lv 5, Curse Knight Lv 5, and Priest Lv 10.

In the light novels, besides these three, two more were revealed: Blood-drinker and Cursed Mage. Tang Zheng was very certain that these two were high-tier job classes.

The reason he was so certain was that 'Blood-drinker' possessed an exclusive skill called "Blood Pool," which was evident in Shalltear's battle with the Bone King. As for Cursed Mage, it was mentioned in the novel that this job class had a negative effect, causing Shalltear to fall into a frenzy when she touched blood. This was precisely why, in the anime, Shalltear suddenly went berserk after attacking the humans during her first encounter with "Nail Clipper." It's just that the anime provided no specific explanation.

In the game YGGDRASIL, job classes with negative effects were all relatively powerful high-tier jobs, using these drawbacks as a form of balancing.

Therefore:

Valkyrie/Lance Lv 5

Curse Knight Lv 5

Priest Lv 10

Blood-drinker Lv 5

Cursed Mage Lv 5

These were all the job classes Tang Zheng knew Shalltear possessed, with a total level of 25, leaving a 55-level vacancy. It seemed the information was still too scarce, making a clear deduction appear impossible.

But!

"I'm a science student, you know," Tang Zheng curled his lips into a grin, his entire being overcome with an excited state, as if he had returned to the mindset of playing puzzle games in his previous life. He quickly reached out and drew a circle around the two job classes he had written on the ground.

First, putting the [Valkyrie] special job class aside, 'Priest' was a basic job and didn't require much attention. Next, Tang Zheng didn't know much about 'Blood-drinker', so he could also set it aside for now. That meant the remaining two high-tier job classes should each have independent prerequisite job builds. Following a mathematical problem-solving approach, one could forcibly derive the "knowns" by factoring in the "unknowns"!

Basic Warrior Class (unknown) 15 Lv → Intermediate Warrior Class (unknown) 10 Lv → Curse Knight 5 Lv = 30 Lv

Basic Caster Class (unknown) 15 Lv → Intermediate Caster Class (unknown) 10 Lv → Cursed Mage 5 Lv = 30 Lv

Thus, a combined 60 Lv + Valkyrie/Lance 5 Lv + Blood-drinker 5 Lv + Priest 10 Lv = 80 Lv. Exactly 80 job levels!

The information on Shalltear immediately became perfectly clear! The high-tier job class 'Blood-drinker' was a high-tier racial class unique to the Vampire race! Among all these jobs, the only one that stood out was the basic class 'Priest'.

The other individual who possessed [Valkyrie] was Zesshi Zetsumei of the Theocracy. Among the currently known powerful characters, Zesshi Zetsumei was the only one whose job build was completely clear:

Warrior: 10 Lv

Berserker: 10 Lv

Master Warrior: 10 Lv

Low-Tier Valkyrie/Omni: 5 Lv

Weapon Expert: 7 Lv

Rogue: 1 Lv

Assassin: 5 Lv

Executioner: 10 Lv

Priest: 10 Lv

High Priest: 10 Lv

Heretic Inquisitor: 10 Lv

The number of job classes was eleven, and her overall level reached 88. Judging solely by level, Zesshi Zetsumei reached the first tier in the Otherworld, but looking at her job build, it was simply chaotic. A build formed from three major series of classes—Warrior, Rogue, and Faith-Based Magic Caster—meant that Zesshi Zetsumei's overall strength was actually much lower than that of a Player at this level.

The special job class possessed by Zesshi Zetsumei, [Low-Tier Valkyrie], could be understood as a degraded version of the true Valkyrie. This situation arose because Zesshi Zetsumei fundamentally did not meet the true prerequisites for [Valkyrie], leading to an incomplete phenomenon unique to the Otherworld.

For example, a high-tier job class like [Ninja], which normally required reaching level 60 or higher, could be acquired by people in the Otherworld simply by learning its skills first. But special job classes were different; these types possessed extremely strict prerequisites. Tang Zheng guessed that Zesshi Zetsumei must have indirectly acquired this job by utilizing her personal Talent, but due to the demanding prerequisites of special job classes, she could only obtain a degraded version.

The only job class that Shalltear and Zesshi Zetsumei both possessed was [Priest]. It was normal for Zesshi Zetsumei, as the ace of the Theocracy, to have the Priest class, but Shalltear was an Undead!

Despite being an Undead Vampire, she had an incongruous Holy-type class like 'Priest' and hadn't even maxed it out. There was only one possible reason for this—to fulfill a certain condition!

A sharp glint flashed in Tang Zheng's eyes, a hint of excitement coloring his cheeks. He slammed his palm heavily onto the ground. "Got you, [Valkyrie]!"

The game YGGDRASIL was actually based on Norse mythology. The so-called 'Valkyrie' did not exist as a concept in the early myths; instead, they were called 'Valkyrja', meaning 'eaters of corpses'—in short, a synonym for evil. Later, they gradually evolved into 'choosers of the slain,' becoming sacred beings. The legendary Valhalla was also connected to the Valkyries. But leaving that background aside for now...

The requirements to acquire the [Valkyrie] job class were very likely: female, the basic class 'Priest', and the high-tier class 'Curse Knight'! The reason it was Curse Knight and not Cursed Mage was that [Valkyrie] was a warrior-type specialized class, not a caster-type one.

"Phew~" Tang Zheng clapped the dust from his hands, let out a heavy breath, and then raised his foot to wipe away all the seemingly messy Chinese characters on the ground. Although no one in this world would recognize Chinese characters, it never hurt to be careful.

"The high-tier job class 'Curse Knight,' according to the game's settings, not only requires a character to be level 60 or higher but also to have the prerequisite job build," Tang Zheng propped his hands on his knees, then stood up, patting the dust off his backside as he murmured with a smile. "However, based on how jobs are acquired in the Otherworld, one can obtain high-tier classes directly by learning their skills first. If my memory serves me right, there's someone in the Baharuth Empire who possesses the Curse Knight class."

Having figured out the conditions for a "special job class," he felt his heart settle. Although he wasn't completely certain, at least he had a chance to try.

That person in the Baharuth Empire wasn't going anywhere. So, the first thing to do was raise his level, and then head to the Baharuth Empire to obtain the high-tier Curse Knight class.

With a clear goal in mind, Tang Zheng no longer hesitated. He stood up and headed toward the Adventurer's Guild.
