Chapter 514 - How Hilarious!

Chapter 514: Ren: Brat, Giant Baby, Merchant, Arrogance! How Hilarious!

Marcos merely gave the man a faint glance and continued; this was his task. "Emilia-sama, and her recommender, Margrave Roswaal L. Mathers."

At this point, Marcos paused. "Margrave Roswaal does not seem to have arrived. Emilia-sama, do you know the reason?"

Emilia's expression was hesitant. "Roswaal…"

Before she could speak, someone from the Council of Sages couldn't sit still. "The foolish act of Margrave Mathers recommending a half-demon."

Reinhardt reminded him, "Sir, calling a half-elf a half-demon is a bad habit."

The speaker did not care, instead continuing to emphasize, "A silver-haired half-demon, isn't that precisely the appearance of the legendary Witch of Envy?"

"You should be grateful she's allowed into the throne room. Truly filthy and unbearable."

Even the kind Emilia was hurt by such malicious words, her purple eyes dimming. Every word was like a sharp blade piercing her heart.

"Oh my, who is it slandering my Emilia with every breath?" A figure suddenly appeared beside her, placing a large, warm hand on her head.

"!!!"

"Who are you?! How dare you trespass into the throne room!"

"Who am I? According to your words, I should be Emilia's Knight, right, Reinhardt?"

Reinhardt's momentary vigilance eased as he recognized the person's face. He gently relaxed his grip on his sword. "Of course, Ren-sama."

"…" With Reinhardt's words, the knights exchanged glances but did not act.

"Ren-kun…" Emilia, her pain dispelled by the warmth, looked up blankly at the familiar face.

Ren smiled softly. "March 7th and the others were furious. If I didn't step forward, you would continue to be bullied. This would be a dereliction of duty as an administrator."

"Fools? Are you insulting the Council of Sages?! Knights, seize this intruder!" a bald old man from the Council had eyes blazing with fury.

Even the other candidates couldn't help but look at Ren, wanting to examine this person who was even more impolite than themselves.

However, a horrifying scene unfolded. The knights had not yet acted. Reinhardt had already drawn his sword and pointed it directly at the Sage Council.

"Anyone who attempts to lay a hand on Ren-sama, I shall stand before them!" he stated with utmost seriousness.

"Reinhardt…" Everyone was shocked. Even his good friend, Julius, frowned deeply. Why would Reinhardt react so strongly?

Reinhardt calmly said, "No one has the right to question Ren-sama's identity. He is the hero who resolved the Great Calamity and destroyed all demon beasts and the Witch Cult."

"The Great Calamity?!" This term, from historical records, shook everyone's hearts. The simultaneous uprising of demon beasts and the Witch Cult was collectively known as the Great Calamity. A hero who resolved it… if anyone else had said it, they would have questioned it. But the one who said it was Reinhardt, the Knight among Knights, who never lied.

"I don't care about being a hero. I am Emilia's Knight now. You are conducting the Royal Selection, right?" Ren smiled faintly. "However, the Divine Dragon doesn't seem very good at choosing people."

"A brat who doesn't want to be King."

"A merchant who only wants to do business."

"An arrogant woman like a giant baby."

"A person born in this kingdom who is anti-dragon."

His gaze swept over the candidates one by one.

"???" The people in the hall were bewildered. He had just criticized all four others. Although his words were accurate, who would dare to speak so boldly? Furthermore, he was even questioning the Divine Dragon.

Anastasia and Crusch merely narrowed their eyes. Felt and Priscilla, however, were stimulated.

"...Hey! Who are you calling a brat?!" Felt was about to get angry, but Reinhardt covered her mouth. He smiled bitterly. "Lady Felt, please be polite when facing Ren-sama."

Priscilla, left unattended, directly questioned, "Who are you, to dare describe this one with such mocking words?"

Ren looked at her calmly. "Do you think what I said is problematic? Then let me ask you, what do you think this is?" With a flick of his hand, a crimson apple appeared.

Everyone felt confused. What kind of question is this?

Al, Priscilla's attendant, felt his brow twitching under his helmet; he sensed his master was about to make a fool of herself.

To everyone's surprise, Priscilla stared at the apple and stated her guess, "What is this thing? Some kind of fruit?"

"..." The entire venue fell silent. Everyone looked at her, trying to discern a joke. But she seemed to be genuinely serious.

"Pfft!" Felt even forgot Ren's assessment of her and laughed unreservedly. "Hahahaha, you arrogant woman! You can't even recognize an apple!"
