Chapter 537: The Fastest Way to Solve a Problem is to Eradicate its Source!
After arranging for the armless Johannes to be taken to the medical room, Lindow Amamiya lit a cigarette, his face full of worry.
Sakuya Tachibana stepped forward. "Captain, the situation is tricky. The opponent's power doesn't seem human. Even when facing Aragami, we wouldn't be this powerless." Mentioning Johannes, she paused, then looked back at Soma Schicksal, the silent, cold man with dark skin. He was Johannes's son but seemed indifferent to his father's plight.
Lindow exhaled a smoke ring. "Things shouldn't have come to this."
Sakuya sighed. "Yes. If it weren't for the Branch Chief's arbitrary actions…"
"Forget it. What's done is done," Lindow interrupted. "However, it's not beyond remedy. At least she didn't kill him. I'll go talk to them." Throwing away the cigarette, he took on the responsibility of being the captain.
"Let's go together," Sakuya chose to go with him. "I'm afraid you'll say the wrong thing."
Lindow scratched his hair. "Haha, indeed. A rough man like me is really not good at talking."
Ren had casually created a comfortable sofa and coffee table. After sitting down, he gestured. "Please, make yourselves comfortable." This simple display left the God Eaters buzzing. Iroha even pinched the sofa, confirming its reality.
Sakuya and Lindow exchanged glances. They noticed the other girls had disappeared but chose not to inquire. They proactively poured tea for Ren.
He picked up the cup, took a sip, and said nonchalantly, "Speak. What do you wish to discuss?"
Only after he spoke did Lindow dare to get to the point. "Respected Mr. Ren, I am Lindow Amamiya, captain of the Far East Branch's First Unit."
"I am Sakuya Tachibana, the vice-captain," she quickly followed. As they spoke, they observed his expression. Seeing him nod, they both breathed a sigh of relief.
Having received this, Lindow gathered his courage. "Mr. Ren, may I ask why you have come here?"
"You need not worry. I am not interested in this base," he said, his expression unchanged. "I am only here to deal with a situation that is unfavorable to the world I reside in. Simply put, your universe has collided with mine, and the consequences will affect my world. I am here to eliminate this impact."
This explanation was concise. But precisely because they understood, the air solidified. Lindow and Sakuya, who had prepared for the worst, were now deeply shocked. The good news was that the base was not in danger. The bad news was that the scale of the incident was far more exaggerated than imagined.
The silence lasted for several minutes. Lindow gazed deeply at him, his voice hoarse. "Although it's beyond imagination, I do not wish to doubt your words… Assuming it's true, I would rather know the method for handling it." From Ren's calm eyes, he understood there was a world of difference between them.
"I appreciate your intelligence," Ren put down his teacup, displaying a serious attitude for the first time. "As for factors that interfere with my world, I will undoubtedly eliminate them from their root, even if it is an entire universe."
The cold words slowly came out, yet they made the group feel an incoherent confidence and dominance. He really could erase a universe. This was their most authentic feeling.
Iroha and Saki, who had been quiet, now stared blankly at his profile, awed by the dominance emanating from him.
Lindow and Sakuya, as beings of this world, felt as if they stood opposite him in an instant. A sense of despair enveloped them, chilling them so much their blood froze.
The solidified atmosphere did not last. "Heh," Ren chuckled, dispelling the chilling air. "But speaking objectively, the impact of this universe is not very significant at present. It's far from the point of needing to be erased."
"…" In an instant, the despair vanished. Lindow and Sakuya gasped violently, their bodies drenched in cold sweat.
