Chapter 80 - Chapter 78: Sarutobi’s Pipe Deserves a Raise

A/N: The prophecy has been fulfilled… 300 Power Stones have been offered. The bonus chapter descends!

---

"What?!"

Hyūga Hiashi's face darkened, his expression grim and terrifying. Though rage churned in his chest, his mind remained steady as he quickly issued orders.

"Hizashi, take this girl and the Cloud Shinobi's corpse to Hokage-sama immediately."

"As for the rest of you... guard every exit of the village. Do not let anyone slip away with Hinata!"

"I'll return to the clan compound and bring reinforcements."

Despite his anger, Hiashi's voice carried calm authority.

"Yes!"

The Hyūga clansmen moved without hesitation.

When Hizashi arrived at the Hokage Building carrying both the body of the Cloud Shinobi and a trembling young girl, Sarutobi Hiruzen was taken aback.

"So… only after killing him did you guys realize he was from Kumogakure?" the Third Hokage asked, brows furrowed.

"That's right," Hizashi confirmed.

"This is troublesome…"

Hiruzen drew deeply from his pipe, smoke curling in the lamplight. He spoke slowly, weighing each word.

"Hizashi, return for now. I'll send the Anbu to assist in the search for Hiashi's daughter."

"Yes, Hokage-sama!"

After Hizashi departed, Hiruzen immediately mobilized Konoha's forces.

One Anbu squad was dispatched to summon the Cloud delegation, another to call in Danzō and the two other village elders, while the remaining units were ordered to aid the Hyūga in their search for Hinata.

Left alone in his office, the Third Hokage exhaled heavily.

"Alas…"

His gaze sank into troubled thought.

Only recently had Konoha and Kumogakure signed their peace treaty, and already something like this had occurred.

How could he not see through Kumogakure's ploy? And yet…

He worried that the fragile peace they had finally attained would be shattered, dragging the village into war once more.

That night, the Hyūga clan poured out in force, scouring the village for any trace of Hinata.

Meanwhile, Obito slipped silently into the Hyūga compound.

Now that he had already decided to kidnap Hinata, Obito figured he might as well "train" her too.

But there was a problem… Obito didn't know the Gentle Fist.

So what was he supposed to do?

Simple. Go straight to the Hyūga compound.

Slipping through the shadows, Obito crept into the Hyūga residence, his Sharingan gleaming under the moonlight.

Of course, stealing their techniques wasn't so easy. The clan's taijutsu wasn't written down anywhere, it was passed down orally, taught only to those of the main family.

"Tch… figures. Looks like I'll have to wring it out of someone from the main house," he muttered with a smirk as he prowled the halls.

It didn't take him long to find the perfect candidate, the Great Elder of the Hyūga clan.

The old man had stayed behind, too frail to join the search.

Obito crept into the elder's quarters, cast him into a genjutsu, and forced the secrets of the Hyūga to spill forth.

Under the illusion, the elder began explaining their taijutsu forms and hidden traditions, even demonstrating motions with stiff, aged limbs.

Obito carefully recorded everything, his Sharingan spinning as he memorized each technique.

Fortunately, with most of the clan scouring Konoha for Hinata, no one noticed the intrusion.

When he was done, Obito slipped away without leaving a trace. The Great Elder would awaken later with only the memory of a nap, blissfully unaware of what had happened.

"Not a bad haul," Obito muttered, stepping into the Kamui dimension.

"Now then… let's check out the fireworks at Hokage Tower."

---

At the same time, in the Hokage's office, the tension reached a breaking point.

The Cloud delegation, Konoha's advisors, Hiashi, and the Hyūga's second elder had all gathered.

Heated voices clashed in the chamber, their arguments echoing through the corridors of the Hokage Building.

From within Kamui's void, Obito lounged as if he had the best seat in the house. He even clapped mockingly, his voice dripping with amusement.

"Welcome, folks, to the Hokage Building Brawl! In the blue corner, weighing in at 180 pounds of pure rage... Hyūga Hiashi!"

"And in the red corner, masters of denial and Olympic-level gaslighting the Cloud Delegation!"

On Konoha's side, the Cloud delegation demanded the immediate return of Hiashi Hyūga and insisted that Konoha hand over "the murderer" responsible.

Cloud, of course, denied any attempt to kidnap Hinata, and instead turned the accusation back claiming a Kumogakure shinobi had been killed inside Konoha, and demanding that Hiashi be handed over as the culprit.

If not, they declared, the peace treaty would be null and void.

Obito clapped lazily inside Kamui, eyes fixed on the chaos below.

"Ah yes, the Uno reverse card opening technique. Peak diplomacy. Truly inspirational, folks."

He tilted his head, watching the Cloud delegation double down without even flinching.

"Notice how they don't blink while accusing the victim? That's Jonin-rank lying right there. If they practiced any harder, they'd unlock a Kekkei Genkai of Gaslighting."

Hearing this, Hiashi's rage erupted.

"First they steal my daughter and now they dare demand my life as well? Do they take the Hyūga for fools?!"

He nearly crashed out on the spot, but the Konoha advisors quickly restrained him.

Obito leaned forward in Kamui's void, eyes gleaming with excitement as Hiashi roared back at the Cloud emissaries.

"And there it is!" he cheered, clapping his hands.

"Hiashi with the emotional crit hit! If words could kill,, Kumogakure would be on the floor right now. 10/10 delivery."

The Cloud delegation, meanwhile, seemed convinced that Hiashi was hiding Hinata to frame them, claiming this was nothing more than Konoha's ploy to pin blame on Kumogakure.

Obito stroked his chin, a grin tugging at his lips as the Cloud delegation doubled down on their accusations. He was clearly enjoying himself.

"Oh, conspiracy arc unlocked!" he said with mock seriousness. "Next they'll claim Hiashi faked the Byakugan and it's all CGI."

With both sides entrenched in suspicion, not a single word of compromise was exchanged.

The chamber filled with heated arguments, voices clashing against one another.

Konoha's leadership struggled to soothe Hiashi while simultaneously pressing the Cloud emissaries to explain themselves.

After all, the idea of surrendering a Hyūga to Kumogakure was unthinkable.

If, years down the line, Cloud developed their own Hyūga branch, Konoha would lose its unmatched advantage in battlefield reconnaissance.

But Kumogakure stood firm. They rejected every accusation, insisting they had no hand in Hinata's disappearance, and countered with threats of renewed war unless Konoha surrendered Hiashi.

The Hokage's office became a storm of shouting. Hiruzen puffed furiously on his pipe as if the smoke itself could hold the peace treaty together.

Obito smirked as his gaze drifted toward the Third Hokage.

"Look at this old geezer," he muttered.

"That pipe is working harder than anyone else in the room."

Neither side gave an inch. The negotiations ground to a standstill, filled with more yelling than sense.

Obito spread his arms dramatically.

"And that's the round, ladies and gentlemen! Zero progress, maximum salt, and meanwhile I walk away with Hinata for free. Truly a flawless victory."

He paused, tilting his head as a stray thought crossed his mind.

Didn't Light Yagami say something like this?

For a second, an absurd image flashed through Obito's mind:

Light Yagami, standing triumphantly on L's grave, dramatically declaring victory and then twerking on it.

Obito froze.

"..."

He glanced around the empty Kamui void, thought about it for a long moment… then sighed.

"…No. Can't twerk. Not in these robes. Besides, Hinata's still somewhere out there...bad optics."

Not to mention, I don't even know how to twerk and most importantly, that would instantly drop my aura level straight down to zero. I can't recover from that one.

---

Not long after, Hiashi and the second elder returned from the Hokage Building. When the Hyūga clan learned of what had transpired, fury ignited like wildfire.

In the anime, Hinata had been safe, and the clan had reluctantly compromised to settle the dispute. But now... Hinata truly was missing.

The Hyūga's outrage mirrored Hiashi's own.

They kidnapped the daughter of our clan, and now had the guts to set their sights on the clan leader himself?

It was unforgivable.

This time, the Hyūga clan would not bow.

There would be no compromise.
