So, I'm going to change the world!
Spread roads and railroad tracks across every nation.
Convenient transportation meant thriving trade, and thriving trade meant economic growth.
At the same time, I wanted to promote TV and film technology turning this world into one overflowing with entertainment.
TV shows, dramas, anime, novels, games… all of it.
That way, I'd never run out of ways to kill time.
But the foundation of entertainment was culture.
The foundation of culture was prosperity.
And prosperity required a peaceful, stable environment.
Which meant one thing: the chaos that had plagued the shinobi world for a thousand years had to end.
The world had to be unified.
Peace had to be realized.
This was the ambition of Uchiha Obito.
Even if Jesus himself descended, he wouldn't be able to stop him.
A few days later, inside the fortress of the Land of Snow within the quiet study room.
Obito tossed aside a copy of the latest edition of Icha Icha Paradise.
"Tch. The writing's not bad, but the imagination? Seriously lacking."
He clicked his tongue in irritation.
"An old virgin with no actual combat experience… what kind of ero-novel could he possibly write?!"
Obito grumbled openly.
After all, in his previous life he had studied under all kinds of teachers.
He had even practiced the secret 'art' of Hentai Sauce in ways this book couldn't even dream of. In his eyes, Jiraiya's work was child's play.
Knock, knock~
At that moment, someone knocked on the door.
Obito quickly snatched up the forbidden book, shoved it into his Kamui space, then pulled out a random scroll and pretended to be deep in study.
"Come in."
As his voice fell, the door creaked open. Uzuki Yugao stepped in, her violet eyes calm.
"What is it?" Obito asked lightly, his gaze fixed on the scroll as if utterly absorbed.
"Terumi Jun and the Chancellor of the Exchequer report urgent matters to discuss."
"Huh?"
Obito blinked, then finally looked up at her.
"Sounds like something happened with the Chamber of Commerce. Tell them to wait in the main hall... I'll meet them there."
"Understood." Yugao bowed slightly and withdrew.
A moment later, in the main hall.
After hearing the report from Terumi Jun and Tomohisa Yukishita, Obito sat silently. His masked face looked calm, but his eyes were sharp and cold.
A caravan belonging to the Polaris Chamber of Commerce had been ambushed.
All supplies, all cargo gone.
Worse, every member of the caravan, including the two squads of Terumi clan shinobi guarding it, lay dead. Not a single survivor.
"…Interesting."
A cold smile spread beneath the mask.
Ever since his consciousness had awakened, Obito had always been the one pulling strings from the shadows...causing chaos for others.
To think someone would dare flip the script, to actually strike at him?
That wasn't boldness.
That was begging to be repaid a Tenfold.
"Any suspects?" Obito asked, voice low and cold.
"We believe it to be Kumogakure," Tomohisa replied grimly.
"Kumogakure?" Obito's brow furrowed slightly beneath the mask.
"That's right," Tomohisa continued, nodding.
"This caravan had been dispatched to the Land of Lightning to trade chakra armor with Kumogakure."
"They made landfall at the southeastern port, completed the deal, and then headed south."
"Their route would have taken them through the Land of Hot Water, before reaching the Land of Fire to purchase more supplies. From there, they would've transported the goods back to the Land of Snow."
Obito gave a slight nod.
This matched the Chamber's usual operating procedures.
The Polaris Chamber of Commerce ran like clockwork. Every cargo ship route was predetermined.
After docking, a ship would unload its cargo, then another caravan, already stationed there would load goods and immediately set sail back to Snow Country.
Meanwhile, the first caravan would continue on land: selling off what remained, purchasing new supplies, and eventually boarding a different ship at a nearby port.
That was how the Chamber ensured its presence in every major treaty port across the world.
Tomohisa went on.
"But not long after leaving the Land of Lightning, the caravan was ambushed within the borders of the Land of Hot Water."
"Yugakure, then?" Obito asked, though his tone carried doubt.
Yes, the Land of Hot Water housed an infamous cult of Jashin fanatics but Obito dismissed the thought immediately.
Those lunatics lived only for blood sacrifices and death. They had no interest in stripping caravans clean of supplies like common bandits.
"With Yugakure's current strength, there's no way they could have annihilated Terumi clan shinobi wearing chakra armor without even one escaping."
Terumi Jun, standing to the side, added firmly.
"Exactly."
Obito nodded.
"So, Kumogakure is still the most suspicious…"
Obito muttered, a flash of cold light in his eyes.
"Go back for now. Arrange the bereavement pensions for the families. I'll handle the rest."
"Yes, sir!"
---
The next day, in the same hall.
"It's confirmed. Kumogakure was behind it. I found the looted goods stored in one of their logistics bases."
White Zetsu stood beside Obito, reporting the investigation results.
"Heh… so it really was Kumogakure."
Obito's low laugh echoed under the mask, though his eyes carried no mirth.
"No wonder they were so agreeable when discussing prices. They never intended to pay in the first place."
There was a saying: What do you do if you want goods but don't want to pay?
Simple. Take them.
"Take without paying, and they dare pull that stunt on me? That's exactly Kumogakure's style."
Murderous intent flickered in his scarlet Sharingan.
Since they chose to be unkind… don't blame me for being unjust.
"White Zetsu. I want every key logistics base in Kumogakure identified. All of them."
"Got it, Captain!"
With that, White Zetsu sank into the ground and vanished.
Later, Obito summoned Yugao, Terumi Mei, and Pakura, explaining the situation in full.
When he finished, Pakura frowned deeply.
"Kumogakure… still as barbaric and unreasonable as ever. But to act this blatantly, without even trying to conceal it?"
"Hmph!" Obito snorted coldly.
"For them, not acting within the borders of the Land of Lightning already is the cover-up."
He leaned back slightly, his voice sharp.
"Think about it. How many times have they ambushed caravans from small nations? And what did those nations do? Nothing. They never dared to raise their voices, let alone take take revenge."
His gaze swept across the three kunoichi.
"That's exactly why these muscle-headed brutes are so brazen."
Hearing this, Yugao finally spoke up:
"What are you planning to do about it?"
"Heh… what am I going to do?" Obito's voice dripped with cold amusement as his Sharingan glimmered behind the mask.
"Of course... blood for blood, tooth for tooth.
If I don't strike back and make them bleed, how else will I crush these fools and deter anyone else from daring to touch the Polaris Chamber of Commerce?"
It was the first time since his awakening that true anger seeped from his words.
Immediately, he began issuing orders.
"Mei, Pakura you're coming with me to the Land of Lightning."
He turned, his gaze falling on Yugao.
"Yugao, you'll stay here."
"Why am I staying behind?" she asked, her tone edged with dissatisfaction.
"It's an order." Obito's reply was flat, uncompromising.
"You have a task here. If something happens in the Land of Snow while we're away, you'll be the one to handle it."
"Of course… there's also Tobi. If things escalate, you can ask him for support."
His scarlet eyes shifted toward her briefly before returning to the map spread out before him.
"…Got it."
Yugao pouted, lips pressed together in frustration. Dissatisfied as she was, she still gave her answer.
