The Eye of a Yamazaki [i]
---
Yuujin backed off.
Quiet. Cautious.
He raised his hand and covered his right eye—the one that had slipped out from under his messy hair.
His face was still blank…
But this time, he was breathing slower. Calculating. Careful.
He knew.
If he moved too much… if he got hit even once by James Lee at full strength—
It was over.
James stood frozen for a moment, eyes wide.
But then he laughed.
"What the hell was that?"
He stared at Yuujin, eyes scanning his body—no, scanning his soul.
"You… are you half Yamazaki or what?"
Yuujin blinked.
"…What's a Yamazaki?"
James put a hand on his forehead and sighed, like he was babysitting something dangerous.
"Yo… what's your father's name?"
Yuujin didn't answer.
But he didn't need to.
He just looked up, straight into James's eyes. No blinking. No emotion.
Just that unrelenting, soulless stare.
James chuckled, but there was tension in his grin.
"Hah… You know, I'm not a bad guy. So..."
"I'll tell you…"
He stepped forward, reaching his hand toward Yuujin's face.
"That eye—that black eye with a white pupil—"
"Only one kind of person can have that…"
His voice dropped.
"…A Yamazaki. Like—"
His eyes widened.
"—Like Gun Park. Or…"
"His father—Shingen Yamazaki."
Silence.
Everyone froze.
Not even Jake or Daniel had ever heard that name.
Shingen Yamazaki.
A ghost from Gen 0. A name that had never once been spoken.
James looked back up and grinned.
"I'll dig into it tomorrow."
He smirked.
"But for now… why don't you join the New HNH Group, Yuujin Jin?"
Everyone tensed up.
But then James added—
"If you join me… I'll spare everyone here."
Yuujin didn't respond.
Daniel clenched his fists. Jake grit his teeth. Lineman looked down.
They all knew—
Yuujin didn't know them.
He had no reason to care.
No reason to say yes.
No reason not to walk away and leave them all to die.
Yuujin thought for a moment.
Then—
"Why don't you spare them…"
He stepped forward again, lowering his hand from his face.
"…and I'll work for a company that works for you."
James raised an eyebrow.
"Huh?"
Yuujin continued—
"You want me under your wing. I don't want to be."
"So… why not create a third option?"
"I don't serve you. I just orbit you."
James was quiet for a beat.
Then—
He smiled.
"You're a clever bastard."
He turned his back, called out to the car—
"Nobure. Crexa. Get Kitae and Joongoo to a hospital."
The two giants moved without a word, lifting the injured fighters into the back seat like paper dolls.
James looked back at Yuujin one last time.
"Get ready…"
He flashed that devilish grin.
"You've got an interview… in one week."
And then he was gone.
The door slammed.
The car vanished down the road.
Yuujin stood still. Blood dripping. Breath calm.
The storm was over—
For now.
It was just getting started for the Perfect Bastard.
