Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 8

As Lira listened to Felix's story, she saw the pain and guilt etched on his face, and her heart went out to him. Felix's eyes clouded over with memories, and he hesitated before continuing.

"Emma and I... we were meant to be together," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "We had plans to build a life, to grow old together. But fate had other plans."

Felix's hands clenched into fists, and his jaw tightened. "The accident that took your family... it was the same one that took Emma from me. I've been carrying the guilt and grief with me ever since."

Lira's eyes widened in shock, and she felt a pang of sympathy for Felix. She had never seen him so vulnerable before.

But as Felix continued, his expression turned worried. "Lira, I need to tell you something. Ethan... he's not just anyone. He's Emma's brother, and he's been searching for her for years. When he sees you... he sees her. And I'm worried he might try to use you to get to me."

Felix's eyes locked onto Lira's, filled with concern. "I know I've kept secrets from you, but I did it to protect you. I don't want you to get hurt, Lira. You're like a daughter to me."

Lira's heart swelled with emotion, and she felt a sense of gratitude towards Felix. She knew he was trying to protect her, but she also knew she needed to be strong for herself.

As Felix's worries deepened, Lira saw the weight of his responsibilities bearing down on him. She knew she had to be there for him, to support him through this difficult time.

But just as things were starting to unfold, the doorbell rang. Felix's expression turned grave, and he stood up. "That's probably Ethan. Lira, promise me you'll be careful around him."

Lira nodded, her heart racing with anticipation.
