Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Flame-Flame Fruit Ability Trial Card

"Sabo, son of a noble from the Goa Kingdom. As a child, he ran away from home after realizing his parents cared more about status and wealth than they did about him."

"He then met Ace and Luffy, and the three of them became sworn brothers. That same Ace is the Fire Fist Ace, who is scheduled to be publicly executed at Marineford in fifteen days. Luffy is Straw Hat Luffy, one of the pirate Supernovas."

"Later, in pursuit of freedom, Sabo set sail but was accidentally attacked by a Celestial Dragon's ship. Though he was saved by Dragon, the leader of the Revolutionary Army, he lost all of his memories."

"From there on… I probably don't need to explain further, right?"

Selo concisely summarized Sabo's past before he lost his memory, leaving the dumbfounded Sabo in complete shock.

Sabo sat there, frozen, seemingly trapped in a sea of memories.

Next to him, Koala and Hancock were both stunned to learn that Sabo had such deep ties with Ace, who was soon to be executed, and also with Straw Hat Luffy, one of the Supernovas. It all sounded almost surreal.

One was the Second Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates.

One was a Supernova.

One was the Revolutionary Army's Chief of Staff.

All were young, highly talented individuals with limitless potential.

"Wait a second... if Sabo is Ace's brother, then won't he risk going to Marineford to save him?!"

Only now realizing the bigger implications, Koala suddenly gripped Sabo's arm tightly.

Knowing Sabo for many years, Koala was certain that if what Selo said was true, then Sabo absolutely would do exactly that.

"Huh? Go to Marineford to rescue Fire Fist Ace? Then… this Revolutionary guy must be the helper you mentioned before, Selo?!"

Hancock suddenly recalled Selo's rescue plan.

However, looking at this so-called Revolutionary, he didn't exactly look like some powerful fighter, more like a nobleman slacker in fancy clothes.

And he was even keeping a water pipe beside him while eating.

"I remember now! Ace! Luffy! Old man Garp! Dadan! Everyone...!"

Awakening from the depths of his memories, Sabo suddenly stood up.

As he cried out these long-lost names, hot tears streamed down his cheeks.

Meanwhile, Selo heard the familiar system notification:

[Ding! Mission complete: You've informed Sabo about his past. Reward: One 30-day Logia Flame-Flame Fruit Ability Trial Card!]

A fiery red card suddenly appeared in Selo's hand.

A warm heat radiated continuously from the card.

After giving it a quick look, Selo casually slipped it into his pocket.

"Your good brother Ace is set to be publicly executed at Marineford in fifteen days, you know?"

Selo timely handed over the newspaper covering this major event to Sabo.

Koala glared at Selo angrily.

Still, deep inside, she knew this wasn't something that could be avoided.

"Ace…"

Snatching the newspaper, Sabo read the headline with clenched fists.

He had forgotten about his dear brother Ace for so many years… and now, just as he finally remembered him, he learned that Ace would be executed in only fifteen days.

It was a painful and infuriating revelation.

But better to remember now than fifteen days too late.

At least now, there was still time to rescue him.

"Ace! You'd better wait for me! Even if it costs me my life, I will save you!"

After shouting this through gritted teeth, Sabo grabbed his pipe and dashed toward the door.

But he hadn't taken more than two steps before Koala grabbed him tightly.

"Sabo, where do you think you're going? Don't tell me you seriously plan to charge into Marineford with nothing but a pipe to rescue Ace?!"

Faced with Koala's questioning, Sabo didn't say anything; he just nodded resolutely.

Koala, furious, gave him a solid bonk on the back of the head.

"Idiot Sabo! That's suicide!!!"

"Even if it is, I still have to go save Ace!"

"Can't you sit down and plan out a safer, more effective rescue with me first?!"

"…Hey, that makes sense."

And with that, Sabo sat back down.

Selo and Hancock blinked in surprise.

Sabo and Koala's way of interacting was… pretty unique.

Still, it made Hancock quietly envious.

Not because Koala could just smack Sabo's head whenever she wanted, but because of their closeness and comfort with each other.

She couldn't help but wonder when she'd reach that kind of bond with Selo.

"I think I just heard Boa Hancock say you're planning to rescue Ace. Is that true?"

Koala pointed at Hancock, then turned to ask Selo.

This also made Sabo pause.

He hadn't yet stopped to consider how Selo even knew about his relationship with Ace and Luffy.

Could he know… everything?

"I do plan to rescue Ace. And I think you, Sabo, should join me. The success rate will be much higher than if you were going alone, with just a pipe."

"Why do you want to rescue Ace?"

Sabo posed a deep, serious question.

Even with his memories fully restored, he still had no recollection of Selo.

"Because someone offered me a Zoan Mythical-type Devil Fruit as payment to rescue Ace."

Selo thought this was a pretty good reason, so he used it as his explanation.

Sure enough, the moment Sabo heard the Zoan Mythical-type Devil Fruit, his eyes widened.

That made perfect sense.

A fruit like that was worth risking such a mission.

"Then tell me your plan to rescue Ace!"

Sabo eagerly leaned forward.

Although he didn't yet know Selo's true strength, being the boyfriend of Boa Hancock had to mean he was at least as strong as her.

Sabo also believed himself to be on par with a Warlord.

So with three people of Warlord-level strength teaming up to rescue Ace, the odds were certainly better than just him and his pipe.

"I still plan to find someone who may be even stronger than I am now. She also has a deep connection with Ace."

Selo was referring to Yamato.

Sabo didn't dwell too much on "she" or who this person was; his mind focused solely on the words stronger than me now.

Stronger than a Warlord?

Could they be… a Yonko?

At least a Yonko commander?
