Chapter 8 - Ten thousand ancient races; Blood Widow Race

Zhao Weng knew that lying around and not taking advantage of this moment of weakness would only serve to his ultimate death and staggered back up to his feet. He was tired and battered but he knew there was no better chance than this so he went to where the rock spearhead was thrown and grabbed it as if a dagger. He hobbled, following the trail of black blood to a part of the cave where the crystals and gemstones embedded in the walls were non- existent. Darkness befitting a cave reigned in that zone. He held the stone dagger up warily, looking around cautiously for any signs of the creature.

He suddenly caught a glimpse of a reflected glint of light from above and dodged, rolling five metres away. A second later, a sharp, sickle-like spider leg struck his previous position, shattering the stone cave floor. He hurriedly got back to the light realising his disadvantage. Bullets of sweat could be seen as he looked at the darkness, fear pasted on his face. She's gotten stronger! That previous attack would have skewered him if it hit.

His grip was shaky but he steeled his resolve to the best of his ability. He knew if he lost his will to fight now, all the struggle would've gone to waste, all the insults he had endured at the clan, all the disrespect and claims of weakness, just to prove them right by dying the second day out here. No! He refused to be that weak, he refused to be a laughing stock!

The little girl had finally shown her true form. A spider hybrid with a large abdomen and the upper half of a female. Her gaze was as if a giant to an ant, the arrogance was oozing. With her staggering height, she looked down on him both literally and figuratively. Her baleful aura was overwhelming and slammed him to his knees instantly. He roared as he used all his willpower to resist the pressure and stand back up. He gave a war cry as he sprinted towards her and swung down the stone spearhead only for all his hopes to be dashed when it shatters to countless pieces on contact.

Zhao Weng stood transfixed staring blankly. 'Monster!' he thought in despair. The female part lifted her arm gently and grabbed his wrist before lifting him ever so casually in the air. She smiled mockingly at his distraught face before plunging three appendages into his shoulder and hip joints then throwing him away like a ragdoll. He screamed in agony before slamming into the ground fifteen metres away, almost completely immobile from the last attack.

'Monster! Monster! I have to get away...' he began thinking in utter terror as he tried to claw his way away from her with his one functional hand. A snicker filled with disdain resounded. A split second gleam of light and an afterimage were all he saw before his arm was severed from his body. He could only muster a small gasp before his eyes rolled to the back of his head and he lost consciousness, lying in a pool of his blood.

" No, don't die yet human! I want to see you struggle, I want to taste your fear, I want to relish your suffering!" He heard before his consciousness completely faded.

He suddenly opened his eyes to a vast darkness, an infinite space of pure null. A total of nine spots of light shone overhead; stars illuminating the void. "Where am I?" He asked, confusion clouding his mind. A loud rumble shook the dark world before an ancient voice spoke, "you're in my domain"

Zhao Weng took a step back as he started looking around wearily with a tinge of fear in his eyes. "Who are you! Where are you!" He asked as he started running while looking around frantically. "You cannot escape and don't bother looking for me.." the voice spoke again. "For I am..." It paused and then something came into Zhao Weng's view. A scaly, draconic body the width of 20 tree trunks slowly moved and blocked his path.

"...EVERYWHERE!!" He looked behind and another barricade closed him in an encirclement. He was trapped by an unclimbable, impenetrable wall of dragon body. He looked in horror as the large scaly body slithered and produced a bone chilling scraping sound as it abraded on itself. Despair gripped him as he understood that if this behemoth decided to kill him it would be as easy as squashing an ant. Even the spider before, was as if fighting a sick infant in comparison.

He looked up and saw two azure crystalline eyes staring down at him. An imperial pressure descended making his eyes avert from the imposing gaze and almost destroyed his knees how he collapsed down. He further affirmed that it was a dragon and not just a giant serpent from the holy glow of its white mane that he caught a glimpse of. Suddenly a thought came to mind which calmed him a little..

If this dragon wanted me dead, I would've been dead ages ago. " What is it that you want from me, dragon" he asked in a calm tone. "Insolent imp, revere me! I am one of the four Divine Lords, how dare you speak in such lax!" It's eyes glinted a red light as a pressure smashed him into the stone cold ground. His bones rattled as he let out a pained cry.

The pressure kept intensifying and the feeling of death started to flood his mind but then he heard a loud rattling of chains, and the mighty roar of the dragon before the pressure faded. He got up slowly only to see the mighty dragon with gigantic chains around its body.

It let out an angry, frustrated roar before sighing exasperatedly. The chains disappeared as it calmed down.

" What's going on here??" Zhao Weng asked more confused than ever. "Don't you understand, I'm your Martial Spirit!"
