Chapter 284 - Chapter 283: The Place Where Blue Face-Planted

Chapter 283: The Place Where Blue Face-Planted

2024-05-15 Author: Samsung Charmander

Back at home, Ash had no idea about the amusing events that had transpired at the Circus Troupe during the night.

Brock, Misty, and Todd Snap returned to Ash's house, stunned to find Mr. Mime had suddenly become a member of the household. After hearing the story, they couldn't help but sigh at the unpredictability of life.

Try to catch one, and you'll fail. Stop trying, and one practically becomes your little brother.

After enjoying a sumptuous dinner, they decided to sleep there.

Previously, with Ash himself having been captured, the three had felt it would be inappropriate to stay. Now that he was back, as his good friends, they naturally wouldn't go looking for another hotel.

And so, Misty shared a bed with Delia, while Todd Snap and Brock slept in the Guest Room. Ash, for his part, plopped right onto his own bed.

"Hey, Pikachu, you've never experienced my Large Bed before, have you? It's super soft!"

He leaped onto the Large Bed, looking proudly at his Electric Mouse.

He had to admit, it had been a long time since he'd worn his pajamas from home. They were just so comfortable.

"Pika!"

Pikachu was a pro at sleeping and could naturally tell this bed was extraordinary. It seemed to possess a powerful pull, making it impossible for a mouse to resist.

The moment its little paws touched the surface, it lost consciousness. Its body pitched forward, tongue lolling to the side, and it instantly fell into a deep sleep.

The entire process took less than half a second.

Ash: "?"

He had planned to have a long chat with Pikachu tonight, telling it stories of how he used to sweat on this very bed before becoming a Trainer, dreaming all sorts of magnificent, ambitious dreams...

His entire youth was on this bed!

And it just passed out?!

"This Pikachu!"

Soon after, Ash also entered dreamland within three seconds. Although his speed was much slower than the Electric Mouse's, he was still faster than 99% of humans.

*Zzz...*

*Zzz...*

The boy and the mouse hugged each other, letting out soft snores.

After all, he had pulled an all-nighter for special training the day before, followed by a day of extreme performances, getting captured by Team Rocket, and then piloting a Team Rocket hot air balloon a thousand miles home. He was already exhausted.

Tonight was a night for sleeping!

Ash mumbled in his Sleep Talk, his hand suddenly shooting up into a fist as he declared proudly, "Pikachu, when I become a Pokémon Master, you will be my great founding general..."

Pikachu, meanwhile, was making pushing-away motions, its little paws kicking restlessly. It had a troubled expression as it mumbled, "Pika pika... (I can't eat anymore...)"

Then, its paws made a broad, encircling gesture before pulling back to its chest, its expression turning to one of relief.

"Pika pika... (I said I can't eat anymore, but I guess I can still eat a little bit...)"

Their movements were both quite ungraceful, yet the scene was exceptionally harmonious.

The next morning, at 8 o'clock.

An alarm clock on the nightstand, shaped like a Poké Ball, suddenly opened, and a spring-loaded Pidgey popped out.

*Ring! Ring! Ring!*

A harsh alarm blared, its sound loud and long. This caused both Ash and Pikachu, who had just settled into a deep sleep, to grimace. It was as if a world-ending disaster was occurring in their dreams.

"Articuno, stop screeching..."

Ash complained subconsciously. The sound really was a bit similar to Articuno's cry.

However, the alarm clock wasn't voice-activated, so Ash had no choice but to kick the Pikachu next to him.

"Pikachu, go turn it off..."

"Pika..."

Pikachu remained in its corpse-like state, not even twitching.

It had been sealed by the Large Bed, unable to move.

Pikachu could endure the torture of the noise, but Ash could not. Finally, unable to bear it any longer, he reached out, located the Poké Ball by memory, and violently smashed it against the wall.

*Clang!*

A sharp, yet not overly loud, crash echoed as the Poké Ball alarm clock shattered into pieces. The mechanical Pidgey inside fell pathetically to the floor.

But it wasn't a big deal. Pidgey alarm clocks were the worst-selling model; they had plenty more at home.

Outside the room, seeing that the boy and the mouse still hadn't gotten up after all the commotion, Delia shook her head and decided to send in her great general.

"Mimey, could you please go wake up those two lazy pigs?"

"Bari~"

Mr. Mime opened the Room Door, pulled back the quilt, and shook the two of them, but they showed no reaction whatsoever.

So, it increased the force a little, but they still didn't get up.

Even a clay figure has a temper. Mr. Mime immediately gathered a brilliant white light in each of its palms. Letting its hands fly, it slapped both their faces back and forth.

*Slap! Slap! Slap!*

It was Double Slap!

After five slaps each, the two finally sat up, clutching their red, swollen faces.

Disturbing someone's peaceful sleep is a grave offense, akin to digging up their ancestors' graves.

Ash and Pikachu, having just woken up, were instantly furious. Losing all reason, they lunged straight for Mr. Mime.

*Thud!*

But before they had even moved half a meter, a white light flashed before their eyes, and they slammed headfirst into a transparent wall, sliding down from mid-air.

"Bari~"

Mr. Mime simply smiled out of the corner of its eye, making the motion of wiping clean glass.

"Damn it..."

The collision completely woke the boy and mouse up. Yawning, they walked into the Washroom with sleepy eyes, brushed their teeth, washed their faces, and got ready to eat.

"Morning~"

"Pika~"

Ash saw his three companions already seated properly at the dining table and greeted them.

Brock, Misty, and Todd Snap: "..."

Waking up with a swollen face and a big lump on their heads was just ridiculous.

"Alright, come and have breakfast~"

Ash's mother, Delia, seemed to have a natural gift for cooking. She had prepared a huge spread for breakfast and gestured for everyone to eat.

"Bari~~"

Mr. Mime made a cup-holding gesture with its left hand and a pouring gesture with its right, pouring Brock a cup of Void Coffee.

Brock: "?"

"This guy doesn't get it. Give it to me, give it to me."

Ash hurriedly took the cup of Void Coffee with a practiced air, tilted his head back, and downed it with an expression of pure satisfaction.

Seeing this, Mr. Mime nodded in approval.

This was the bond between stunt performers. Ash could understand what Mr. Mime was thinking at that moment.

The two made eye contact and instantly became kindred spirits, just short of making a blood oath before a statue of Guan Yu and becoming sworn brothers.

The others: "?"

Is this the Emperor's Coffee?

***

"Mom, we're heading to Oak Laboratory first!"

"Go on, go on."

"Bari~"

After finishing breakfast, Ash's group left the house, while Delia and Mr. Mime stayed behind.

Pallet Town didn't have many landmarks; only Oak Laboratory near the Back Mountain was famous. Many of Ash's Pokémon were kept there.

Since they were back in Pallet Town, it was only natural to pay Professor Oak a visit.

The other three, excited at the prospect of meeting the renowned Professor Oak of the Kanto Region, eagerly followed along.

"Look, that's Blue's house..."

Along the way, Ash was still pointing out the local scenery.

Just then, the group passed a small Stream where a few wild Tangela were hopping about. The strangest thing was that on the bank of the stream stood three wooden signs, each with a line of crookedly written words.

"I swear in this life, I will fill this Great River! —Blue"

"The place where Blue face-planted, commemorated for posterity. Oh, and whoever pulls out this wooden sign is a dog, hehe. —The Most Handsome Person in Pallet Town"

"The person above is an idiot. —A Pokémon Master"

Brock, Misty, and Todd Snap: "?"

Seeing their confused expressions, Ash seemed to recall something and burst out laughing before explaining:

"It's like this. One time when we were little, Blue face-planted right here and fell into the water. Gary and I laughed about it for three months..."
