Moo-Moo ignored him, turning his head to look in another direction. Following Moo-Moo's gaze, Yang Tao saw a Wanderer appear out of thin air on the grass.
The Wanderer reached out to prop himself up, looking around his surroundings with a hint of apprehension. When he saw Yang Tao standing with a cow, he was clearly startled.
The Wanderer looked somewhat Indian, but fairer than the Indians Yang Tao remembered, possibly due to mixed heritage.
He appeared to be around twenty-seven or twenty-eight, and besides his apprehension, his face held an almost unshakeable melancholy.
But as time passed, Yang Tao could clearly see the Wanderer's furrowed brows gradually relax, and his expression slowly became calm.
The Wanderer stood up and walked towards him step by step.
"Friend, what level is this?"
Yang Tao shook his head slightly: "I'm not from around here either. Perhaps you can ask it…"
He pointed to the yellow cow standing beside him, but the cow completely ignored him, walking away, leaving him with its broad back.
"Friend, this place is really nice, at least much better than Level 0, Level 1, Level 2, and so on."
"The piano music here makes me feel a peace I've never experienced before."
Yang Tao chuckled inwardly upon hearing this:
'That's because you haven't been to Level Fun and Level !, otherwise you'd think the first few levels of the Backrooms were like heaven.'
As he spoke, the man even closed his eyes, appearing to listen to the music.
Yang Tao: "…"
This level had no effect on him, but it seemed to have a very strong mental interference on ordinary Wanderers.
After a moment, the man opened his eyes, a smile on his face, and said: "I think I should look around and see if I can find some supplies. If possible, I'd like to stay here for a while. Friend, want to come along?"
"Sure…"
Yang Tao wanted to see what was special about this level, so he accepted the invitation.
"My name is Ajin, let's go check under that oak tree first…"
Ajin? Was that a codename or his real name? It didn't matter though; a name was just a codename.
"Yang Tao."
This grassland wasn't empty; besides the obviously problematic large yellow cow, there were also some scattered oaks.
The two walked towards the oaks. Yang Tao kept observing Ajin and found that, apart from becoming calm, there were no other changes in him.
They quickly arrived in front of an oak. There was nothing around, just a vast expanse of lush green grassland.
"Do you want some?"
Ajin showed no disappointment at the lack of supplies. Instead, he pulled out a bottle of gray almond water from his backpack and offered it to him.
"Thanks, no need, I still have some here."
Saying that, Yang Tao also took out a bottle of Almond water. Seeing this, the other party said nothing, simply sat under the oak, opened the Almond water bottle, took a sip, and said: "I think I know what this place is."
Ajin's words surprised him. The other party didn't seem like a professional explorer, yet he knew about these obscure levels.
"Where is this?"
"I accidentally saw Level 756 in a database on a computer. Its name was so interesting that I remembered it."
"Only one cow lives on the Big Island. This level is called that ridiculous name… Haha, how amusing."
"Friend, I feel a bit sleepy. I'm going to sleep for a while…"
With that, the man actually closed his eyes.
"Oh no, buddy, don't sleep! Sleeping in this cursed place, aren't you afraid you won't wake up?"
Just as he was about to use his continuous slapping wake-up service, Ajin's figure disappeared from in front of him, just as he had appeared, out of thin air.
"…"
No, buddy, are you crazy?
Ajin's sudden 'appearance' and 'disappearance' made him wonder if the other party was an NPC 'spawned' by this level, whose purpose was to lead him to this oak.
He couldn't even finish his sentences. At least tell me all the information about this level.
Moo-Moo~
A cow's lowing came from a distance. The cow from before was standing at the edge of the mist, looking at him and mooing.
The lowing had no meaning, just like a human's meaningless 'ah-ah' sounds.
However, Yang Tao could still feel that the cow was laughing at him.
Giving the cow a glare, Yang Tao reached out and summoned the wooden door directly. He planned to go back and check the information for Level 765.
Back in the Overworld, Yang Tao took out his exploration terminal. Interestingly, while this device might not have a signal in some Backrooms levels, it had full signal in the Overworld, which was quite magical.
After inputting Level 765, the information he needed immediately popped up.
"It really is called 'Only One Cow on the Big Island'? The author is truly a genius!"
Level 756 is a collection of eight small islands suspended in a misty void. The grasslands forming the islands are dotted with sparse oaks. The central island is not large, not even as big as a single urban district, and is surrounded by seven smaller islands, connected by narrow wooden bridges.
Apart from a single cow residing on the central island, there are no other Entities present.
Wanderers who have entered this level describe it as a relaxing and melancholic experience, and they tend to forget thoughts and memories of their outside lives.
They feel a strange sense of peace in this level.
This level does not have a fixed entry method; it seems to occur suddenly, mostly to Wanderers reported to be in a state of high depression.
The exit method is also simple: Wanderers only need to lie down on the island and simply gaze at the sky until they fall asleep.
They will then wake up at their entry point, feeling well-rested, and their depression will be greatly alleviated or even cured.
Looking at this level description, Yang Tao felt this was a divine level.
"These Backrooms levels are truly bizarre and full of wonders."
Shaking his head, he put away the exploration terminal and glanced at the kill count on the Yamato.
[272542]
"So that means I killed 1720 Entities in Level !?"
Yang Tao felt it was a bit low, but it was acceptable. If not, he could find other corridors in Level ! later, and then he could earn a large amount of energy.
He took out a signboard from his backpack, wrote "Level 765" on it, and specifically wrote the level's name, 'Only One Cow on the Big Island,' on it as well, as a commemoration of this interesting level.
Placing the signboard above the wooden door, Yang Tao walked directly towards the wooden door leading to Stormstone Keep on Level 28.
