Chapter 27 - Saki-chan... The exquisite flower

Douma carried Shinobu to his room and lay her on his bed, letting her rest under the covers.

He walked down the hallway of the cult mansion, greeting his followers with polite smiles until he ran into Saki.

"Ah! Saki-chan, I need your help with something."

Saki paused what she was doing and looked at him with a confused stare.

"Lord Douma, you should have just called for me. No need to stress yourself."

Douma shook his head with a soft laugh. "How could I? Especially when you're diligently tending to my flowers. Also, Saki-chan has grown into a beautiful lady."

Saki blushed, then shook her head, flustered.

"A-anyway, let's go."

Douma chuckled at her flustered expression, then led her to another private room of his.

'Is this what I'm thinking?!'

Saki fidgeted as she entered the room with him, a charged tension in the air.

Douma proceeded to sit on the bed, then gazed at Saki with his rainbow colored eyes.

"Saki," He started, changing his tone. "How loyal are you to me?"

Saki froze from the unexpected question. The thoughts in her mind shattered into cold realism. There was never a chance to begin with.

"Lord Douma, I cannot measure my loyalty to you. I can only say I am willing to go through even hell for you."

She answered honestly, her tone reverent.

'Hmm. Interesting choice of words, thoroughly amusing~'

Douma's eyes glinted in delight. Indeed, Saki was a special and exquisite flower.

"Then, Saki. Do you want to be with me forever?"

Charmingly, he asked with a smile.

'For-ever?'

The thought echoed in the young lady's head repeatedly until she snapped out of it.

"Is it possible? I mean, we're all going to die one day right?"

She asked, her voice a mixture of hope and sadness. The thought of parting from Douma probably saddened her.

For a brief moment, Douma's smile faltered. He was stumped by such sincerity. Ignoring her question, he rested his forehead against his palm, in a dilemma.

He originally wanted to consume Saki and replace her but now...

'Sigh, what is this feeling? Guilt? Affection? What exactly is it?'

He raised his head, staring at the confused woman without a smile.

"Sigh. Your entire self is an intrigue. Would you abandon your humanity just to be at my side?"

He asked again, wanting to confirm his doubts.

"Yes, my Lord." She said with a helpless smile. "I just can't bear with leaving your side."

Douma closed his eyes, deep in thoughts. Then he opened them. His smile was back, laid-back and charming.

"A touching answer, human. I'm properly pleased."

Right before her eyes, he transformed into his demonic form. His eyes grew a crystalline snowflake pattern on them while his nails elongated into sharp blue claws. His smile widened to reveal fangs.

"Wha-?"

Saki was shocked, a natural reaction. However, instead of fear, she only showed admiration at his new form. This once again stumped Douma.

'What a weird woman.'

"If I could make you immortal like me, would you accept it?"

"Yes."

There was no hesitation in her voice when she replied him. Seeing this, he sighed. Then, he pulled her close to him, and suddenly kissed her. Stunned, the lady froze, unable to resist his demonic tongue from savoring her mouth.

While having an intense kiss with her, Douma allowed his blood to flow into her mouth, then enter her system.

The transformation started immediately.

Her body quivered, then collapsed into his arms. Frostbite spread across her skin which had begun to turn pale.

'Hm? Interesting~'

Although Douma had once turned others into demons with his blood, it wasn't directly connected to him. He was just a medium for their connection to Muzan.

After a full minute, the frostbites receded, leaving her skin slightly pale and porcelain. Her hair turned icy blue, glinting in the darkness. Then, her eyes fluttered open. He instantly saw the change.

Her eyes had gained a snowflake pattern, echoing Douma's but softer—pastel hues; pale pink, icy lavender, light blue.

It was both charming and breathtaking.

"Douma-sama...?"

Her voice echoed, soft but audible.

Douma smiled comfortingly, feeling a strange but undeniable connection with her. Through the connection, he could feel her thoughts directly. Right now, she was confused, bewildered, and amazed.

'No hint of panic or perverse joy at the new power.'

He marveled at her mental state, unused to such a human—no, demon.

"Saki-chan, you are now like me. Immortal. Are you happy?" He asked with a harmless smile, though his question was laced with an ulterior motive.

Saki shook her head softly, "If it means being with Douma-sama, then yes."

Douma suppressed a grunt, not used to being stumped thrice in a single day. There was another reason why he had turned her into a demon apart from sentimental ones.

He wanted to know—was he a demon progenitor like Muzan or still just a medium for the Demon Lord despite their disconnection.

And now, he had his answer. And with this answer, his mind opened up to several possibilities. Could he create more demons, just like Muzan? Could he break a demon's connection with Muzan and make them his? If that was possible...

"Heh~"

Then, Daki and Gyutaro would be his priority. It would reflect bad on him if he abandoned 'family' with an enemy. Right? Human morality and all. Perhaps he could even try converting Akaza or even Muzan himself.

'Haha! Hilarious!'

With his thoughts unrestrained, he delved into Saki's thoughts, navigating her memories and feelings until he stumbled on one of her potent desires.

A debauched smile appeared on his lips as he lifted the new demon up, then placed her on the bed. Sensing his intentions, Saki blushed heavily, the pink hue a huge contrast to her pale skin.

The rest was obvious history.

.....

While Douma was busy performing censored acts with his new demonic follower, a specific Upper Moon was restless.

'I have adapted to Lord Muzan's blood. This power...'

He noted, flexing his muscles. A wild grin on his face.

'I will crush the entire Butterfly Mansion to bits.'
