Chapter 51 - Rumble and Tussle

I brought down my floating platform, hovering over the group of Lithoni. Darevellum collected himself and made sure that everyone was okay before beginning his speech.

"Alright, better everyone the attack from behind was a great idea, however better isn't good enough! Two hours from now we will be trying to hold the wall from one man! The Fungal Monarch, he will attempt to bring down the walls, he will go easy on you, but be prepared!" He yelled out to the crowd before going to the individual commanders and leaders he saw make mistakes.

Turning my floating platform around I repaired the walls this time I made a hyper dense coating along the walls hopefully preventing or hindering people climbing the walls.

Anastasia's stand in definitely lived up to the standard, without it wrecking havoc the Defenders would have won.

The next practice was coming up, essentially Lord Alvest would fight me in front of the Outer Ring Wall while the other Lithoni would pepper me. I had a ten hit allowance, essentially I would lose after taking ten hits.

Moving into the Outer Ring I saw that a few vendors were selling roof top views of the fights. Smiling at the people as my made my way through the streets having some time to kill before the next war game.

...

The two hours dredged on slowly but eventually it was time. On my way back I saw one house with a particularly nice view of what was happening on the walls selling spot like before.

"Place your bets, place your bets right here" a voice carried from the rooftop. Ah, it was nice to see humans weren't the only gamblers.

Moving to the Outer ring gates I passed by the large form of Lord Alvest standing stalwart at the gates.

"Good luck my Liege" he rumbled as I passed by.

"You're the one that needs the luck Lord Alvest!" I replied back to him before making my way over to were x marks the spot. Standing on the small x mark I turned around to look at the Force assembled on the gates.

"We are going to spar against our Liege the Fungal Monarch Kien Noble!" Darevellum said rallying the Lithoni and Treants assembled. I couldn't see the full formation of the Defenders due to my vantage point so I had no clue how they were going to stop me from simply dropping the walls.

Locking eyes with Lord Alvest I saw that he wielded a massive spear. Pulling out my Club and summoning a shield made of harden rocks around my left forearm I was ready.

"Let the Wargames Commence!" Lord Armeant stated from the top of a tower. Then hail of arrows rained from the walls, although noticably no spells. Reaching out with a tendril of Mana I grasped for the walls, and a force field of Mana blocked my path. Like a waterfall it poured down and dragged my mana tendril with it if I didn't pull it back. Somehow they blocked my [Geomancy] which I guess was a good thing in the long run and nuisance for me in this practice.

Rasing my shield I unfolded it covered my whole body as I marched forward using my fungal spores to guide me as my vision was blocked.

*Thunk**Thunk*

Arrows continued to patter into my shield like raindrops, until eventually I got close to Lord Alvest. Friendly fire was a thing in War Games just like in relife scenarios. Refolding the shield I watched as the spear point of Lord Alvest zoomed towards me. Jumping out of the way of the large spear I Jumped forward and at the same time covered the feet of Alvest in long tendrils of rocks as I activated my infant domain skill. As I battered the knee of Lord Alvest marking one of his ten hit allowance. Luckily for me Lithoni's hard rock exterior was easy to mend if they want to, only some like Lord Alvest's second Darevellum carried their scars by choice.

So when I left a crack throughout his rocky knee it was nice too know that he could repair it.

Landing at the base of his feet as the waves of my domain slowly picked up. Slightly choppy waves lapped at the walls and at Lord Alvest's feet doing not much of anything but still the thought that counts.

Lord Alvest tried to break out of my hold, unfortunately for him the rest of the surrounding ground was not stable either. As gave up getting free he began to attack me with spear trying to attack me as I weaved back and forth between the attacks. Landing two of my own on the behemoth.

A flash of bright white light permeated the sky, my eyes having long adjusted to the perpetual darkness of the caves shrieked at the light. Thats when I felt a massive spear butt slam me and throwing me like a golf ball.

As I flew in the air for a moment before I crashed downwards and Inot the ground. Blinking the bright spots out of my vision as I tried to grasp what the hell happened. Standing up and with my vision finally cleared up enough to see that none of the Defenders were shocked by it. Dam that was a good strategy, and a dirty trick, nice work guys.

Smiling at them I waved for a moment before quickly disappearing underground. Like a fish in the sea I sped through the ground before resurfacing as I shot up from the ground.

"Sir he's there!" I heard a guard shout before I did the strategic plan. Simply skip over the fight with Alvest as I crashed into the Defenders formation.

"I came in like a wrecking ball!" I yelled before switching to the training copy of my Claymore. I didn't bother with guard stances as my stats and skills made more of a waste of time, for right now at least.

As I swept through the guards and tried to force my way to the Shamans the Lithoni I had hit were plucked from the air one after the other. Pushing forward until there was an organized response from the Defenders. A good old shield wall developed on both sides of the spears protruding from the gaps of the shields and into the air. I had two options go ahead and Into the Inner ring and eventually have the defenders from the Outer Ring encircle me, or alternatively I could wipe out the Defenders from the Outer ring and move on.

I formed my plan. First off I marked where the Shamans where that were preventing me from using [Geomancy] on the walls in my mind. Next I was going to push into the left shield wall protecting them and take them out, after that I would crush the remaining defenders of the Outer ring before making my way to the Inner Ring.

Bursting into action I evaded the spear point in the shield before I grabbed on to the edge of the shield and yanked it from it holders hands. The Lithoni stared paralyzed for a moment before a I poked him lightly in the chest and he got yeeted into the air.

Then like a whip I cracked into motion blasting into the ranks of the defunct shield wall. The spear man fell rather quickly as their long spears were unwieldily in the such close combat. Eventually the skirmishers who were there mostly for pitched battles where able to hold me off for about ten seconds longer which was impressive. With the final protections beat I got into the tower were the Shamans were. With a single swipe of practice claymore they were fallen. The flowing barrier collapsed almost immediately, as I took control of the Outer Wall.

"Retreat! The Shamans are down!" Darevellum's voice brokered no argument as the remaining squads fell back. Spear like protrusions ripped up from the wall knocking out several squads on their retreat. Walking calmly down the steps and into the Outer Ring.

"Three minutes! I repeat Three Minutes, Those who won their bets come and collect, the Outer Wall fell in Three Minutes!" A Brownies voice cheered from the roof tops. Smirking at their antics I moved on.

Eventually I made it to smaller Inner Wall, and it too had the flowing barrier that stopped my [Geomancy]. Walking to the walls I saw a row of shield men holding the wall. With a small platform of rock formed at my feet I levitated it and henceforth me up to the wall. Holding my shield in front of me I blocked the arrows that were being flung at me. Pushing off the platform as I let it crumble away I tackled the shield wall. The amount of bodies holding up the shieldman from behind stumbled back as I rammed into them. Again and again I rammed my shield into the wall. Like two rams until finally a few where being pushed against the ramparts. Not wanting to actually harm them I jumped sailing over the defenders I almost landed in the land of citadel.

Then a rope pulled around me and as I went to cut it I was wrangled back. Looking back at what was pulling me I saw the scared marble face of Darevellum. The Defenders pulled away leaving space as I crashed into the wall. No longer suspended in the air I pulled and finally I manged to rip the magical lasso.

"Easy there Amazonian" I quipped at the second-in-command of the guards.

"I don't understand that term My Liege" he responded as he pulled out his practice sword.

"How many hits left my Liege" He asked as shield wall formed around us.

"9 left I think, unless you count the flashy thingy" I responded as I readied my self sliding into a mole stance. Darevellum slid into a roof stance, and burst into action. Using [Force Field] I blocked his attack as I slid into a sideways slash aiming for his shoulder. If I remember correctly he had a 5 hit allowance. But as I brought down the blade a string of webbing pulled my blade back stumbling me and pulling me into the a spear point.

Recapturing my footing I pulled and eventually I the spider that was pulling me was flung forward, I got worried for a moment before I saw it stopped right before it hit the wall of one of the wall towers. Quickly recovering I blocked an attack from Darevellum as he Weaved around the force field. Pushing off the attack I captured the center of the encirclement.

Standing like a bulwark I blocked Darevellums attempts at attacking me with a mix of sword play and [Force Fields]. Eventually though due to my magical skills my lackluster sword skills won over Darevellum and I scored the five hits required and he got pulled away. The spiders had tried to intervene in the fight but once I was aware of them I easily evaded their attempts.

With one last jump I claimed victory in the War Game.

Now however I had some questions, a few discrepancies if you will. First off, I would have been severely more screwed if the rest of the fungi had shown this support for the Ophiocord. Also where the hell where they getting wood from!! Yes I understand the second one isn't as Important at face value and more of curiosity thing but still I must know!

Marching into the Council Chamber almost immediately I saw that the four councillors where present. Lords Armeant and Urisk, the spider, and the stand in for Lord Alvest whose name I had forgotten.

"Okay, I have a few questions, mainly two for right now" I stated as I sat down on my designated chair.

"Of course my liege, and congrats on the victory in the War Games" Lord Armeant responded.

"Okay well first off why were none of you guys except you with the Ophiocord and secondly where is the source of wood coming from?" I demanded as I looked over them, now I haste to point out, I know I'm being dramatic but Eh, spice of life is my response to that
