Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Conversations in the Dark

Zephariel escorts Yoru and Anwar to the bedroom doors, then arranges the guest bedrooms for both of them (two rooms, much to Anwar's chagrin, with heavy pressure from Yoru's steeling gaze). He orders the old butler to bring the dinner to each room, fussing over the menu for his little kitten, as Yuri is very weak now. The kind butler nods at each new detail with a total understanding and compassion. He smiles benignly and hums appreciatively at Zephariel's unhidden adoration for the little master, then, turning on his heels, he heads toward the kitchen in the basement, whistling a song with visible joy. He hopes this peaceful moment can last as long as possible and for some time to come.
