Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

Revenant Surge

The undead wave slammed into us like a flood of living steel.

Kaoru's chakra punches barely slowed them, Kai's rapid knife work struggled to find purchase against bodies that reknit themselves. Even Hana's vines couldn't hold them for long—every time she bound one, two more ripped free.

"We're getting overrun!" Sera shouted over comms.

"No, we're adapting," I growled, forcing more chakra into my barrier seals.

Shinkuro's Voice

From the ridge, Shinkuro's voice cut through the storm.

"See how fragile life is, Arashi? See how beautiful my perfection is?"

His tone was calm, cruelly parental. "These are warriors who never die, never feel fear, never betray."

I felt anger boil over. "You call this perfection?!" I roared. "This is slavery!"

The Turning Point – Hana's Breakthrough

One undead broke through, aiming directly at my injured arm. Hana moved instinctively, intercepting with Chakra Bloom: Thorn Wall. The vines pierced the enemy clean through, but the backlash knocked her to the ground.

I dropped to one knee next to her. "Hana, stay with me!"

She grabbed my collar, eyes burning with tears and adrenaline. "Arashi… I have to say this now or I never will—I love you!"

Time seemed to slow. Blades clashed in the distance, screams echoed, lightning cracked from my chakra pulse—but all I heard was her voice.

Without thinking, I pulled her close, pressing my forehead to hers before kissing her fiercely. It lasted only a moment, but it was raw, desperate, and utterly real.

"We're not dying here," I whispered. "Not when we still have something to live for."

Her cheeks flushed deep red, but her eyes hardened with new resolve. "Then let's end this."

Storm Seal Awakens – Final Lock

The kiss… something changed inside me. My Storm chakra surged beyond control, lightning and wind fusing into a single sealing pattern that manifested on my hands—a double spiral mark glowing like molten silver.

"What the hell is that?" Kai shouted, ducking an enemy slash.

"Something new," I muttered, flexing my hand.

Instinct guided me: I slammed both palms into the ground, shouting, "Storm Seal: Final Lock!"

A dome of pure Storm energy erupted outward, erasing the chakra threads binding the undead. One by one, their bodies crumpled lifelessly as the seal permanently severed Shinkuro's control.

Shinkuro's Rage

On the ridge, Shinkuro snarled. "Impossible… you evolved the Storm Seal beyond its limits."

Daisuke stepped forward. "He's too dangerous now. I'll handle him."

Before I could respond, Daisuke blurred in front of me, his sword swinging with lethal precision.

"I told you, Arashi," he hissed, "the old world is dead. Stop clinging to it."
