Chapter 2 - chapter 2: Hu ling

28 missed calls..

Lin wan rolled her eyes.

It has been 3 days now since she left jun city to imperial sky. She cleaned the commonly used rooms in the house and arranged the stuffs delivered to her mansion.

But she had one little problem...

She stared at the gas cooker "how do you switch it on?" She thought tilting her head.

And so with that, she had been ordering take out for the mean time.

Her ringing phone broke a train of thoughts.

"Sister wan!!"

Lin wan winced shifting the phone from her ears.

"What now lin mo"

"Father is furious, he almost killed me with a fork the morning after you left and I'm his biological son -mo sniffed dramatically- madam ye said father sent the shadow hunters after you."

Lin wan froze.

"Shadow hunters? Didn't father dismiss them after mum died?"

"Yes but he assembled a new one with luo chen as their leader"

"Luo chen? -she broke into a hearty laughter-

If he is their leader then I have nothing to worry about"

"Father really went too extreme this time, he blocked your card from the lin finances"

"I know that mo"

"Sister wa.. Lin wan you ungreatful child!"

Lin wan noticed the change. It was her father speaking now.

"You better return to jun city or you will not like the consequences. I will block you totally form the lin clan finances"

"Go ahead father" lin wan answered dryly.

She was done following orders. She had her own life to live now.

"If you are so eager for both the jie and lin clan to be related, I am not your only daughter, father. You have your beloved daughter yiyi and she will more than happy to marry into the jie clan" She cut the call.

A knock on the door echoed as lin wan paused her cleaning. She swiftly picked up a stick moving to the door.

With luo chen as their leader, lin wan was very sure she cannot be found so easily.

She opened the door slowly...

"Hey neighbou....?"the sentence broke off.

The girl at the door stared at the stick on lin wan's hands.

"It's you"

Lin wan frowned, it was the girl who offered her the hankerchief at the mall.

"What a surprise, we meet again." the girl said still looking at the stick in lin wan's hands.

"Are you following me?"lin wan asked putting the stick down.

"No, I noticed the noise around here and figured out someone packed in"

**packed into the haunted house**

Lin wan frowned, what haunted house.

"I brought some food and fruits to welcome my new neighbour. My name is Qan hu ling"

Lin wan opened the door a little wider, she found a way to eat some warm home way food and not another take out.

"Come in"

Hu ling placed the basket on the counter in the kitchen, looking around the house awed.

"Wow, it's beautiful in here. Thought it will be all dark and spooky. Do you need some help with cleaning? Looks like you have a lot to do"

"Sure" lin was shrugged, the more hands on deck the faster the clean up will be finished.

Hu ling plated the food and fruits she brought and they both sat at the dinning to eat. Lin wan sniffed in the aroma of the soup.

"Smells nice right? The best soup in imperial sky" hu ling said proudly.

Lin wan ate silently as hu ling did the whole talking. She was twenty two years old, brown short hair which was held in place with a hair band, brown shiny eyes and thin peach lips.

"My parents died when i was six, I grew up with my grandma, moved out two months ago. I walk at shop at the mall, where the manager finds an slight opportunity to issue a strike...."she rolled her eyes. Lin wan nodded in reply.

"What about you?"

"Me?"

"Yeah"

"Erhm, my name is lin wan ..... that's it, I guess"

Hu ling narrowed her eyes.

**is she wanted?**

Lin wan paused, raising her gaze from her plate to hu ling. She wasn't a wanted fugitive.

"My father was getting on my nerves so I moved here."

"That's tough" hu ling commented.

"Tell me about it" lin wan sighed, resuming to eat her food.

After the meal, they arranged and cleaned more room. Hu ling opened the refrigerator.

"Damn, it's well stocked"

"Not like I can use them"

Lin wan entered the kitchen resting on the middle counter.

"I can teach you how to cook."

"Really? It's going to be a disaster" lin wan chuckled softly.

**miss crazy looks beautiful while smiling **

"Thank you.."

Lin wan paused. She replied her hu ling thoughts. Wait... did she call me crazy?

"Thank you for the help."lin wan said to cover up her reply.

"Always welcomed"

"I need to find a job" lin wan murmured to herself. Now she is blocked from the lin family finances, she will need a job to fund for herself.

"You can be my co worker." Hu ling smiled resting on the counter, facing lin wan.

"I don't think I want that, no offence though"

"None taken."

Hu ling cleaned up the kitchen and packed her basket, covering the left overs and placed them for lin wan in the refrigerator.

"Good night, miss crazy" she waved.

"My name is lin wan." Lin wan waved back.

She sat down on the couch, her legs folded staring at her phone. What job could she possibly do?

Her ringtone interrupted her thoughts.

"Why are you calling me by this time?"lin wan asked after picking up the call.

"I can't call my younger sister again?"

Lin Qingyu, lin wan's older brother asked and scoffed.

"Are you fighting with sister-in-law?"

"No, a little birdie told me you ran away from home."

"Lin mo" lin wan slapped her forehead.

"Where are you?"

"How am I sure you aren't among father's shadow hunters."

"I'm your older brother."

"Still a suspect."

Lin Qingyu rolled his eyes.

"If you need help with anything, contact me."

He said finally. "Good night, wan."

"Night."
