Chapter 1 - INTRO

Ethan is a 15-year-old teenager. He's known in his family to be smart and mature, but also lazy and often lost in his world. Ethan is also the kind of person who works hard but only when he puts his mind to it. And he was considered blessed and special; his serious face looked stern, even though he was a playful guy, especially around friends.

One day, Ethan was walking to the supermarket to get some stuff because he was on an errand. He walked till he reached a building that was wide, he walked to the glass door and it slid open, Ethan walked through the door and got hit with a breeze from the air conditioner.

He walked towards the carts and took one, then began walking around the aisles, grabbing stuff here and there, while also avoiding bumping into anyone to minimize awkwardness, and after grabbing everything he was asked to get, he went to the cashier to pay.

but then, when he finished paying, he took the bags, they were heavier than they looked, Ethan was able to handle the weight, and so he put on his earphones and began to walk home, he walked and walked, the music was the kind that got you excited, which motivated Ethan even more, he sped up a bit then when he arrived at his house he took his keys and opened the door.

He walked into the house and put the stuff in the kitchen. His hands were hurting, he looked at them, and they were red and had lines from the bags, and he just walked to the bathroom and washed his hands, the water was dripping from his hands before he shook his hands, the droplets flying

Then Ethan walked towards the living room where he had his console. It was old but not old enough to be retro. It was a last-gen console. Ethan sat down on the couch before his mother came out of the kitchen.

"Ethan dear, did you get the stuff I told you to get?" his mother asked.

Ethan: "Yeah, got them, but I didn't find the peanut butter you asked for," Ethan said as he looked at his mom

"It's OK, thank you," his mother said as she smiled and went back to the kitchen.

"No problem," he replied as he opened the TV and started to watch YouTube, but then his mom yelled from the kitchen.

"Hey, I found a park nearby, how about you go there? You know, for a walk," she yelled.

Ethan wasn't in the mood to walk much, he wanted to sit down and relax, but he knew his mom wouldn't let him say no, even if it was just a suggestion.

"Where is it exactly?" he sighed in resignation.

"I'll send you the location," his mom replied from the kitchen as the sound of frying became loud.

"OK, thanks," he merely said.

Ethan got up, and gave his little sister the remote, she opened her favorite cartoon and began to watch YouTube.

Ethan took his phone, a power-bank, and his charger, and walked out of the house and turned on the location.

He walked to the park. It took some time, but he arrived.

He didn't see many people, not even kids at the playground or parents on benches nor even squirrels twitching in trees; the eerie quiet was stress-inducing yet calming and a fresh reminder for Ethan to clear his thoughts.

Ethan looked at his phone.

He wanted to call his friend to talk to him, but the phone's screen turned off, and the only thing visible on its screen was a reflection of himself in a black tint.

No matter how much he pressed the on button, it would turn on then immediately turn off, like the battery was playing with him.

"Bruh, this phone is so stupid, and old, I hate it." Ethan grumbled as he was forced to look around the greenery of the park.

Ethan took out the power bank and the charger, then connected the power bank to the phone using the charger, and the phone started charging.

Then Ethan turned it on, it took some time, but the phone showed that it had 70% left in it.

"This phone is a trickster. You ain't gonna trick me." Ethan thought as he stared at the battery percentage.

Ethan put on his earphones and started walking, exploring the park off the path.

And as he was exploring he found a trail, it was deep, like it was dug out, and as Ethan walked along the trail.

He found that it went deeper and deeper, then he saw a huge silver chunk that looked like a huge ore of a metal, but it was too shiny, too silver-colored to be an ore.

"What is this? How'd it get here? is this iron?" Ethan walked around the big chunk, inspecting it from all directions.

Ethan tried to touch the metal but he saw electricity sparkling around his hand, the closer his hand got the more electricity crackled to his hand.

He was then able to touch the metal and however, lightning struck the metal, which cause the electricity to get conducted to his hand and through him.

His body began to smoke as he got electrocuted, the power-bank and the phone exploding.

Ethan lost consciousness and lay on the metal, and when he woke up, It was night and his head hurt him A LOT.

He then walked to the nearby lake, and saw his reflection, he looked OK, nothing was wrong, he looked around his body and there was no sign of any damage done to it.

He walked back to the place that he lost consciousness in and found that the metal has shrunk into a handful size, he tried to take the now-small metal and struggled to lift it, It wasn't your average Iron.

"Come on! let me lift it!" he struggled as he tried to lift it.

The stone began to budge as Ethan tried to lift it, and then he was able to lift it, the metal rock now in his hands.

His body quickly adapted to the heaviness of the rock; usually, it would take a lot of effort to do that, but not with Ethan, it was like he was a special case.

Ethan looked for his phone, but he found it broken, completely smoked, well-done steak kind of smoked.

"No! My phone!" he cried, it angered him, his whole life was online.

Ethan threw the rock in rage, and the rock hit a tree, and the tree's stump exploded and the tree fell.

"What? huh?! huuuuh?!?!" Ethan yelled in confusion, he was about to question if he was dreaming or not.

But alas, he wasn't. How did he know? Dreams don't have reflections.

Ethan stared at the tree, it's trunk broken, he then looked down to his hands and walked to the metal rock and took it.

Then he began to walk home, making sure to walk as fast as possible to avoid trouble, he noticed that the streets were empty.

It was creepy, that eerie darkness accompanied with the silence, if it wasn't for the slight breeze it would've been completely scary.

He walked and walked, It was a good thing that he still remembered the way, and when he arrived home, he took out his keys.

They were black because he was just fried, but at least it still worked, he opened the door and went in.

His parents were waiting at the door, as soon as he walked in his parents hugged him, then began to berate him.

"What the heck were you doing outside? And why didn't you pick up?!" his mother questioned.

"You could've at least told us you were going to a party," his father sighed, he was stern but also soft on him, somehow.

"No I wasn't at a party, I was in the park." Ethan tried to reason but his parents wouldn't listen.

"All that time in the park, what were you doing? sleeping? Yeah right, don't lie." his dad began to yell, mad at his son "lying".

"I'm not! Why would I? I'm just as confused as-.." Ethan said but he was cut off by his mother.

"Don't yell at us! We're your parents, talk to us better." his mother yelled, even though Ethan wasn't yelling.

"Sigh… fine!" he sighed and grumbled, it was unfair, not even listening to what he had to say.

"Good…now tell us what were you doing?" she interrogated him.

"You always think that I'm lying, no matter what, you always think I'm doing something wrong. Well, guess what, you're wrong." Ethan said, he knew that it's best saying what's on his head than doing any pity squabble.

"So we are lying, huh? That's what you are saying?" his mother tried to guilt-trip him.

"Want me to be honest? Yes, that is what I'm saying." Ethan said without backing out, not even breaking eye contact.

Ethan's parents made him go to his room so he walked to his room and sat on the bed and lied on it.

But then he got up and changed his clothes into pajamas and lied on his bed once more, he held up the metal rock he took and examined it.

He felt it's weight, and he noticed that he was sinking in bed, as if he was heavy, then he put the rock in the drawer next to him and the drawer tilted forward when it was open.

So Ethan took the rock again and put it on the floor, then he covered himself with his blanket and went to sleep.

When Ethan woke up, he walked to the kitchen and made himself a sandwich and then walked to his room and changed his clothes to his casual attire and grabbed the metal rock, then he walked to the exit and left the house without a word.

Then he walked to the park, and to the place where he first saw the metal rock and strangely he felt something weird, as if there is something there.

Ethan began to dig down and down and didn't find anything, he only found dirt and more dirt, so he gave up, then he looked at the metal rock on his hand saw that it shrunk again.

"What? it's getting smaller, how? what?" he asked himself, what's going on with this strange piece of metal?

Ethan examined it again, then he walked around in the park, and while walking, a criminal jumped from behind a bush.

Ethan got scared, the criminal had a knife, so he wanted to run away, but panic overtook him and he zipped away at a random direction, the speed was inhuman, and crashed into a wall.

And when he got out of the wall, he felt a huge amount of pain on his nose and body, then he walked to the nearest bathroom.

he was twitching a bit as he was walking, the when he arrived at the bathroom he saw his nose bleeding, and his nose broken.

But after sometime the pain went away and his nose fixed itself, Ethan stared at himself in disbelief as his body slowly healed itself, then after a minute his face and body were as if nothing happened.

So Ethan walked out the bathroom, and re-examined the metal rock, as he expected It got smaller again, It is now as small as his nail.

At this point, Ethan wasn't surprised. so he kept walking around and when he arrived at the park playground, he saw a group of girls his age.

So he decided to avoid contact and sat at the second swing set that the girls weren't at, Ethan was just staring at the metal rock, and he noticed that it slowly got smaller and smaller.

he kept wondering why did that happen, his mind going through many theories, one after another.

the girls looked at Ethan, they wondered why he was staring off, but then they started to whisper to each other.

"What's with that guy?"

"Oh, I think he's just crazy…"

"No, I think he's just thinking, I heard that smart people are more likely to stare off."

"That makes sense, but he looks like he's thinking hard, you know what, let's just ignore him."

"Yeah, I can tell that he's bad news."

"You're too paranoid…"

as that conversation was going, Ethan noticed their gazes and just ignored it, Ethan looked at the rock again and saw that it is now so small, that it's not visible now.

so Ethan just put his hand on the swing chain and began to swing, and then he just swung back and forth again and again, the girls began to stare at him again, and Ethan wanted to show off.

So he jumped off the swing as soon as he touched the ground, causing him to run, but that was what was planned.

What happened is that Ethan zipped instead of running, and then he almost crashed, but he reacted just in time to stop.

The girls were staring in disbelief, and Ethan smiled. He realized that he had powers and he was able to control them.

He just needed to learn how to use them, so he headed home knowing that he had powers, but little did he know that it was just the start of his long and exciting adventures.
