Saquin stared at the fast approaching Raythra.
I am a couple meters away from the treeline.
Taking into account that he most likely can still boost his speed by a notch... Probably a sudden rush at the last leg to take me by surprise.
I won't make it by falling naturally, I should dive down with the wings...
Or.
Do something more shocking.
---
Raythra passed by the lifeless body of the trio in a flash.
He paid no real attention to them.
He did feel it was a pity that a Supreme Bloodline Underbeast died just like that, but that was it.
He would have killed it ages ago, if it was not for the existence of its Underbeast army.
He had more than enough strength to wipe them out, but lacked the corresponding stamina.
Its focus was on the culprit.
It could tell that he was trying to escape into the forest and probably use some skill or ability to conceal himself.
Too bad.
It had a surprise in stall for him.
It strained its wings as it waited for the right moment to catch him off guard.
Just as Saquin was about five meters from the treeline. It was still about a fraction of a second away.
Logically speaking, it would not make it.
But.
Boom!
A burst of purple flames, and Raythra shot down at close to twice its speed causing a sonic boom in air.
Die, vermin.
Raythra roared in its mind as it clawed out at Saquin. Its claws a raging purple as intense flames danced about it.
Clang!
An unexpected sound snapped Raythra out of his valiance.
That was not the sound of flesh...
It just had this thought as Saquin's voice brought it back to reality.
"I am physically stronger than you, genius."
Raythra felt himself come to an abrupt stop mid air as Saquin's blow dissipated all his accumulated force.
Saquin, on the other hand, went crashing into the forest.
Huh?
For the brief moment that it took for gravity to get hold of Raythra. It silently hovered at the spot, shocked at what just happened.
Grr.
A growl escaped its mouth as it forcibly shook off his shock. It peered down into the forest while its wings balance its flight.
There.
In a small crater.
Saquin laid there, nonchalantly.
His whole get up had changed. His wings was missing, so was his sword, and crossbow.
Presently, he was in his all black clothing, that was now showing signs of being worn out, and a black chain wrapped around his waist.
His right hand was wrapped in this black chain, it was what he had used to receive Raythra's punch.
"In terms of pure power, you are probably stronger than me by a whole league." Saquin's voice reached Raythra. "But, you see, I am not a normal human. In terms of pure physical strength and speed, I triumph you by a level."
Raythra eyes narrowed, it understood the language of the humans.
"I see that you truly understand me." Seeing Raythra's reaction, Saquin nodded with a smile. "That would make sense, humans have been in you guys proximity for who knows how long, learning a bit about our language is but expected."
Raythra did not respond.
"Anyways. We can fight now. I have to get this over with. Quick." Saquin ignored his lack of response. His focus was on the counter by the side of his head.
[ Population: 1,213. ]
Raythra hovered in air for a second more.
It found the human strange. Humans were that last race known for their innate physical abilities but this one in front of him just subverted that fact.
Hey, he won't be labelled an abomination if he was not weird.
Raythra concluded.
Then.
Its lips parted into a smile. A creepy one. One that showed his pitch black, all-canine set of teeth.
---
What is a bloodline?
A bloodline is the blood that rumbles in your bone marrow. It is the ancenstral blueprint of a person.
What can it do?
Well, its capabilities are not definite. Just know that the highest form of bloodlines, the Supreme, are the building block of power in the Underworld.
---
A memory flashed through Raythra's head as it could feel its blood rumble with power and prestige.
With the pumping of the blood, he could hear voices resound in his head.
As the blood rumbled more and more.
The voices grew higher and higher.
Till Raythra could hear them clearly.
Fire... Fire... Fire...
Till Saquin who was a distance away could hear them.
As they grew louder, the purple flames around Raythra intensify. The temperature skyrocketed, even it, started sweating.
Saquin's eyes narrowed.
Not in concern. Not in caution. Not in fear.
Rather, in annoyance.
He had always had a nagging feeling that he did not particularly like fire and heat.
And now, he could confirm it.
Unconsciously, a cold, white fog drifted off from his body slowly.
Rawrrr!!!
Raythra roared into the sky as he felt his strength peak.
The fire in its body spilled out in all directions as the temperature increased up a notch.
"Hey." It heard Saquin's voice call out to it.
It stared down to see Saquin had stood up, white fog poured from his being as the ground around him had become a snow filled land.
"Fun fact, I hate fire. Really hate it." Saquin voice drifted over, despite being the same neutral tone as usual, it had a dangerous edge to it.
Raythra could even felt like the voice did not come from a human, almost like it came from a being like him.
"Another fun fact, I am fast. Like really fast." Saquin added, this time his voice was back to normal. The black chain was swinging about in his hand, at the end of the chain was a blade.
Raythra did not respond to Saquin's ramblings. Instead, it started gathering its Senar.
Then.
It opened its mouth and delivered its judgement on Saquin.
[ Dragonkin Breath. ]
A skill derived from the Dragon heritage of the Dragonkins. The main difference between them is the fact that the Dragonkin's variant was way more concentrated.
And way faster.
A flame pillar of purple shot down towards Saquin with insane speed.
Saquin's response was a combination of the chain and the white fog.
He swirled it above his head clockwisely with tremendous speed, the white fog which now had shards of ice crystal in them followed the chain's path. Thereby, he created a whirlwind of ice.
This happened in a short moment of time. More than enough time for it to be ready to block Raythra's flame pillar.
Raythra though, did not mind. With its observational skills, it could tell the move was not enough to stop his attack.
Just as the two attacks were about to collide.
Raythra's eyes widened in surprise.
The black chain had dissolved into nothing as Saquin's form flickered away.
He ran.
Wait... No!
Just as it resolved to stop its attack, so it could close its mouth.
"I told you, I am fast..."
A voice sounded by his side.
"Scary so."
A pitch black sword drove straight through its heart.
Huh?
For the brief moment it still had its breath, it wondered what the hell had just happened.
Then.
Its body went still.
Thud.
Saquin landed gently while Raythra's body landed with a loud thud.
"Told you."
Saquin smirked as he stared down the body.
"Now, to go check what was going..."
He had not finished his statement before a wave of heart trenching terror prevaded his whole body.
Move.
His instincts screamed at him
Albeit, it was too late.
It went straight through his heart.
Saquin looked down to see an arrowhead stick out of his chest.
With his last bit of strength, he faced upwards, towards his South West.
There.
About two kilometers away.
The Golden Prince stood straight on a hovering platform, his bow rested in his hands.
