Chapter 236 - 《Harry Potter- Ravenclaw》Chapter 104: The Original Book of Spells

Faced with knowledge as forbidden as this, Wyzett knew better than to experiment recklessly.

He had people he cared about—many, in fact. Their safety mattered far more than the thrill of discovery. At the very least, he needed to master more protective measures and learn to mitigate magical risks before even considering hands-on research with such dangerous material.

For now, he resolved to keep his investigations strictly theoretical. If the right opportunity presented itself, he could consult the more knowledgeable professors, gradually accumulating experience and preparing for the day he might safely pursue these mysteries for real.

But the Restricted Section's surprises weren't limited to books on Dark Magic.

On a shelf that seemed almost ordinary compared to the rest, Wyzett found a rather unassuming volume: The Book of Spells.

Judging by its dragon hide cover, the elegant handwriting, and the signature inside, he quickly deduced that this was an original edition—a rarity worthy of the Restricted Section.

"This book of spells will enable you to use some not-so-basic charms to make your life richer, safer, and more colorful."

That was the very first line, followed by a signature: Miranda Goshawk.

Miranda Goshawk—herself a former Hogwarts student.

The publication of The Book of Spells was a true milestone in magical education. Upon its release, it sparked a sensation across the wizarding world. Many magical schools abandoned their old Charms textbooks, adopting this new volume as their standard.

Its publication in the 1950s was no coincidence. After the trauma of the Wizarding War, the magical community was more open than ever to new ideas and innovations.

Within its pages, The Book of Spells included not only the Fire-Making Spell, Severing Charm, Scouring Charm, Unlocking Charm, Summoning Charm, and Water-Making Spell—all spells Wyzett had already mastered—but also more advanced magic: the Shield Charm, Blasting Curse, and even the Patronus Charm.

What made this copy truly special, though, were the countless notes and jotted spells left by students over the years. Margins and corners were filled with hidden gems.

One such spell was the Bubble-Head Charm, which conjured a bubble of air around the caster's head—perfect for underwater breathing or surviving in foul environments.

There were others, too: the Disillusionment Charm, Doubling Charm, Oppugno Jinx—each one a treasure trove for magical research.

The version of The Book of Spells stored in his mind only held the original content. Eager not to lose any of the precious annotations, Wyzett quickly pulled out his notebook and copied every note and spell he could find. These would be invaluable for future study.

Only after this meticulous work, and with a lingering sense of excitement, did he finally leave the Restricted Section.

As he stepped into the library's public area, the number of portraits increased.

It was deep into the night now. The painted occupants were all fast asleep, bobbing their heads and snoring gently in their frames.

"Alohomora!"

Wyzett tapped the door's lock with his wand. With a soft click, the library's heavy doors swung open.

He slipped out quickly, then turned and cast another spell on the lock. "Reparo!"

Another click—the door was securely locked once more.

This was a little trick he'd picked up from the annotations in The Book of Spells—and it worked perfectly.

Just then, laughter echoed from down the corridor—the unmistakable voices of the Weasley twins.

"George—no, Marcus, go that way!"

"No problem, my dearest Delian!"

"Meow!"

A sharp feline yowl rang out, followed by a flurry of hurried footsteps.

Then came Filch's irate shout: "Out of bed at this hour! I'll catch you, see if I don't! Detention for the lot of you!"

Wyzett nearly collided with Fred Weasley, who looked genuinely surprised. "Wyz—what are you doing here at this hour?"

Before Wyzett could answer, Fred's face split into a wicked grin. "Oi, brilliant! Only our dear materials consultant would be out and about at a time like this!"

"Meow!"

Mrs. Norris's cries drew closer and closer.

"Not good… If you get caught too, it won't be easy to have you vouch for us later!"

Fred's eyes darted back and forth. Suddenly, he spun on his heel and started doubling back the way he'd come. "Quick, hide! Once Filch's got me, you can slip away!"

He didn't wait for a response—just shot Wyzett a wink, saluted with a flamboyant flick of his hand, and dashed off. "Bye-bye!"

"Meow!"

"Blimey! Two years on and that cat's still got it!"

It sounded like Fred and Mrs. Norris were locked in a chase, and as Filch's heavy footsteps approached, the commotion down the corridor grew ever more chaotic.

The twins were infamous for their mischief, but rarely did they actually get caught or lose house points—one of the many reasons Gryffindors adored them. They brought laughter without ever causing real trouble.

Now, Fred's first instinct was to draw Filch away, sparing Wyzett from being caught. The meaning behind the gesture was clear.

Whatever the reason, Wyzett didn't want Fred to take the fall for him. He wanted his own nighttime adventures to be carefree and even dreamed of bringing others along. If he wanted that, he'd have to deal with Filch—the ever-vigilant caretaker—sooner or later.

Thinking back on his recent run-ins with Filch, Wyzett sprinted after Fred, mind already working on a plan to solve the problem once and for all. Communication, negotiation, spells—he'd need at least two backup options…

The ruckus in the corridor died down, and Filch's triumphant voice rang out: "Ha! Got you at last! Three years I've waited for this—three years! You're finished!"

"Congratulations!" Fred, breathless but still cheerful, replied, "Only when we were first years could you catch us—ha!"

"Marcus! Delian! Who were you trying to frame, eh?" Filch snarled. "What house are they from?"

Fred just cackled in response.

"Doesn't matter if you don't say… I've got you anyway!" Filch crowed. "You're coming straight to Professor McGonagall—she'll know what to do with you!"

"And there's another one—looks just like you. George or Fred, is it? If you want to save your brother, come out now! He's in my clutches!"

True to form, George wouldn't leave Fred behind. He appeared at the far end of the corridor with a dramatic sigh. "Oi! Pulling tricks now, are we? You really have improved, Filch!"

At the same moment, Wyzett arrived at the opposite end.

Filch's eyes darted between them, positively gleeful. "Well, what do we have here? Never thought I'd see the day—another one! This is my lucky night!"

George's eyes widened, then he broke into a grin. "Brilliant! Our dear materials consultant at last joins the midnight club! Nighttime adventures are the best, aren't they?"
