Chapter 397 - Chapter 63: Can't Even Use Severing Charm Anymore?

Just as Wizette predicted, this Forbidden Forest riot's final direction evolved into large-scale practical combat lesson.

First thing Dumbledore did upon return—restrain several massive trolls then burn small half of Acromantulas to ash.

After solving these threats, remaining magical creatures weren't enough.

For them to truly break through defense line composed of magical plants, armor, statues plus professors—extremely difficult task.

With his appearance, students also rallied. Students originally planning to stay in Great Hall willing to come out and face these magical creatures together with professors.

Professors also happy to see this scene—occasionally let few magical creatures through and let students handle them.

During this process, Gryffindor students saw another side of their Head.

Professor McGonagall seemed especially enthusiastic and constantly reminded students inside defense line—if any magical creature couldn't be handled, must tell her.

Once students called for help or made remarks like "close call" or "almost got hit"—armor or statue would descend from sky and easily knock corresponding magical creature unconscious.

Facing this situation, Fred's expression became strange. "George, don't you think Professor McGonagall is somewhat abnormal?"

"Abnormal? Petrificus Totalus!" George bound sneaking Red Cap. "Seems a bit like when we tinker with magical fireworks together?"

"Where did Harry go? Why hasn't he returned?" Ron looked around. Hearing Fred and George's conversation, also noticed McGonagall's expression.

"Feels like what Professor McGonagall's doing now is like me playing Wizard's Chess. Hey! If I could also play such large Wizard's Chess, how cool would that be!"

"Mr. Ron Weasley!" Professor McGonagall suddenly called.

"Oh no!" Ron instinctively shrank neck. "Professor McGonagall definitely going to criticize me and tell me not to always think about playing Wizard's Chess..."

"Come help me watch..." Professor McGonagall said. "See where students need support and tell me immediately!"

Ron froze and scratched ear, like not believing what he just heard. "Huh? Professor McGonagall, what did you just say?"

Professor McGonagall continued. "End of last year, Headmaster Dumbledore praised you for Wizard's Chess. Now is time to use your specialty!"

Watching Ron scratching head walking forward, Fred said uncertainly. "This counts as password matched?"

"Should be?" George whistled. "Why care so much! Anyway current Professor McGonagall much more approachable!"

Last Fwooper flew back to Forbidden Forest—forest finally calmed.

Professor McGonagall showed extraordinary stamina and energy. She let other professors rest first while she stayed to keep watch, prevent possible escapees, and ensure this riot completely ended.

Students leaving grounds and Great Hall saw patrolling armor and statues at grounds' edge and couldn't help but respect Professor McGonagall.

Next morning, Professor McGonagall greeted brilliant dawn, waved wand making armor and statues return to positions.

Students attracted by commotion saw spirited Professor McGonagall and respected her even more.

Following period, courses related to those magical creatures all conducted outside castle.

Like Care of Magical Creatures—Silvanus Kettleburn used them as examples and taught students how to handle these magical creatures if encountered outside school.

Potions class likewise—Snape led senior students out of classroom and came to grounds for outdoor teaching.

Since conflict occurred, casualties inevitable—those magical energy fields preserved various magical creature corpses.

Senior students attending outdoor class needed to complete dissection and processing of these corpses under Snape's guidance.

Originally many senior students still confident—even gripped wands rehearsing Severing Charm and looking eager to try.

However when they saw Snape raise wand, expressionlessly dissect magical creatures, and meticulously separate each part—that bit of confidence suddenly disappeared.

"See clearly?" Snape picked up white cloth and slowly wiped blood from hands. "Next, your turn. Four per group. Begin!"

Looking at magical creatures lying on tables, these senior students looked at each other. They stiffly raised wands like first-years just learning Severing Charm and tremblingly cut open magical creatures' fur.

Next came Snape's most anticipated moment.

"Are you dissecting or torturing? Such precious opportunity, completely wasted by you!"

"Ah, stayed at Hogwarts five or six years and still this level—I very much doubt whether you're actually wizards!"

"I can help submit application and let you return to first year to learn Severing Charm again. Can't even pronounce incantation properly? It's Diffindo!Diffindo!"

"Should I tell you even first-years can complete this? Must close eyes tight when sleeping at night! Otherwise I think you'll see them become ghosts floating around before you!"

Noon—senior students finishing Potions returned to castle. Their expressions very consistent, all ashen-faced and vacant-eyed.

They wobbled toward Great Hall and directly collided with several unfamiliar wizards.

Those wizards seemed to have urgent business, didn't argue with them, cursed and walked up marble staircase.

"Those wizards speak so rudely!"

Some students frowned dissatisfied.

"Wait!"

Suddenly a student reacted.

"Those wizards—haven't we seen them before?"

"Seems we have... Where did we see them..."

A student looked up and saw gem rings on those unfamiliar wizards' hands.

"I remember! It's them! They're Board of Governors people!"

"They must be troubling Headmaster Dumbledore again! So annoying!"

With these wizards diverting attention, senior students finally recovered somewhat. They ran toward Great Hall planning to share this unexpected news.

That path from Great Hall to House tables—they knew too well. Soon reached Hufflepuff table and shared what they just saw and heard.

Students finishing classes left classrooms and all noticed this aggressive group of wizards.

Watched them reach gargoyle statue, stepped onto spiral staircase gradually disappearing from view.

Governors led by Parkinson and Yaxley heavily knocked on Headmaster's office door. "Dumbledore, I think we need an explanation!"

What greeted them was extremely calm "Please enter."
