~9 months later~
A woman in a white shirt, dark blue jeans, a blue denim jacket and impractical boots was pushing her car along the road, stood by the open door next to the wheel. "Hey, Mama." She heard a male voice call out to her. "That's a nice ride." The man said to her. "Yeah." Lucy said quickly, continuing to push it as fast as she could. "I think I'm gonna have to take it off your hands."
Lucy looked at the man stood on the pavement next to her and her brows furrowed slightly. She stopped pushing the car and looked at the man with a slightly amused look. "You're gonna steal my car, the one that broke down two blocks ago?" She asked confidently, resting her arm on the top of her car. "Yeah. Maybe take you for a spin, too." The man said as he lifted his shirt up slightly to reveal the gun hidden in the waistband of his trousers.
Lucy looked at the gun and then back up at him, her long brown hair shielding her face from the sun. She let out a small amused chuckle as she smiled at the man. Not a few moments later she was slamming the guys head down on the desk of a police station, dropping his gun onto the counter beside his head. "Officer Chen, reporting for duty." She said with a proud smile as she held the man there.

"I love Rookie Day." Officer Bradford said as he walked through the men's locker room at the station. "It's Christmas and The Purge in one." He said to the two officers behind him as he watched as coloured man walk in wearing a bright red jacket. "And there's my first present." He said. "Morning, Boot." Bradford said loudly to the coloured man as he walked towards him, hands on his hips.
Jackson turned. "Good morning, Sir." He said with a slight nod and smile to the officer. "Did I say you could talk?" Bradford almost snapped. "You better pray I'm not your training officer, Boot, cause I'll make your life a living hell." Bradford warned him, staring him down. Jackson took a moment to breath before replying. "Sir, I'd be thrilled to have you as a TO." He said, Bradfords head snapped back slightly as he listened not sure where this was going. "My father raised me to push myself to the edge of my abilities, he'd be deeply disappointed if I failed to do so now that I've joined him in service." Jackson said, the smile still on his face and a spark in his eyes.
Bradford nodded slightly, eyeing him up and glanced down to the namebadge on his uniform he carried which read West. "Your father is..." His voice a little quieter. "Commander West of Internal Affairs. Yes, sir." Jackson replied to him, a little more controlled but still slightly smug. "Roll call in ten." Bradford said to him as he leaned in, his voice still disapproving.

"You really gonna do me like that?" Angela asked as she walked down the spiral granite staircase at the station. "The detective positions not yours yet. And youngest T.O. to youngest detective will move me up the ladder nicely." Bishop said to Angela. "But if you can't stand a little competition.." Bishop said to her fellow female officer with a slight tease. "Please, I grew up with four brothers in a two bedroom, I'll be at the finish line before you realise the competition's started." Angela teased back with a smile. Her eyes flickered up and down a man rushing into the station in a flannel shirt. "Where you going, Boot?" She asked making the man pause.
"Uh, locker room, then roll call?" He replied almost looking startled at being stopped. Bishop immediately replied. "Oh no, you need to present yourself to the Captain first. It's tradition." Bishop said. "Down the hall, up the stairs." Angela joined in with a serious face. "Uh, yeah..." The man replied hesitantly and walked off to their directions. Angela Lopez and Bishop shared a smug look with each other and a small knowing laugh before walking off.
The man walked up the stairs and saw the Captain's office before he knocked on the side of the door and stepped into the room. "Can I help you?" The woman asked as she looked up from her desk. "Officer John Nolan, reporting for duty." He said standing up straight, though the lady word came out slow as he didn't see anyone else and had a feeling he'd just been pranked. "Did you get pumped, Officer Nolan?" She asked almost somewhat amused as she watched him look around.
"No ma'am. I just..." He trailed off slightly not able to explain himself but stopped talking as the Captain just hummed in response. "Your file confuses me, Officer Nolan." The Captain said as she opened the brown file and glanced at it. "Penn State. Pre-law. But then 20 years in construction. You got solid marks at the academy. You certainly have a work ethic. Cholesterol level I've never seen in a rookie." She said as she flipped through a few pages of his file. "I'm something of a pioneer." John stated with a brief sense of humour before going still again.
The Captain looked up at him and and closed the file on him, before leaning slightly over the desk. "Do you think this is a joke?" She asked him seriously. "No, ma'am." John replied seriously. "I'm here to work, and I won't let you down." He replied, voice softer and he'd meant what he said. "We'll see." The Captain replied with a softer voice and a small nod, summing up the potential of this Rookie.
She glanced at her watch and chuckled nervously. "Roll call is in five minutes, and the watch commander is a stickler." She said. John's eyes widened slightly and lifted up his arm awkwardly to check the watch on his wrist since he was also holding a bag in that hand. He turned around to leave the office but turned around after a moment hearing the Captain. "Officer Nolan... I'd run." She said to him, her eyes narrowing slightly. John looking like a deer caught in headlights quickly turned and ran out of the office.
