Chapter 97 - Chapter 97: Wendy

Chapter 97: Wendy

As he spoke, Noah held up his right hand, displaying the guild mark on it. The little girl's tears turned to a smile. "Really?"

"Of course, it's true! But first, we need to eat. It's almost noon. After we eat, I'll take you to the guild."

Seeing the time, Noah decided they should eat first. Hearing his words, the little girl finally felt how hungry she was, and her face turned red. Seeing that no one had any objections, Noah went to cook lunch. The Nirvit tribe members also prepared several of their specialty dishes. Everyone ate their fill.

The little girl patted her full little tummy and blushed, lowering her head shyly.

After cleaning up, Noah sat down beside her and asked softly, "What's your name?"

The little girl said shyly in a small voice, "Wendy. Wendy Marvell."

"My name is Noah Flair. Wendy, what about your parents?"

Hearing his question, Wendy quickly looked up, her eyes welling with tears. "Grandeeney is gone. I can't find her anywhere."

Noah stroked her head and said softly, "Is Grandeeney your mother? When and where did she disappear?"

"She disappeared on July 7th, X777. When I woke up, I was in a forest, and she was already gone. Grandeeney is my foster mother. She's a dragon."

"A dragon?" Roubaul, sitting nearby, let out a sigh of wonder.

Wendy looked at him excitedly. "Grandpa, have you seen Grandeeney?"

"I have seen other dragons, but they probably weren't the one you speak of. The dragons I've seen were very violent and looked down on humans, causing destruction everywhere."

"Grandeeney was very good to me! She was very gentle, and she loved humans!" Wendy said anxiously.

Noah gently patted her. "Then the ones grandpa met weren't your Grandeeney."

Wendy's spirits fell again, and tears began to well up in her eyes. "Grandeeney is gone—"

"You don't need to be so anxious. Since your mother is a dragon, with her strength, she wouldn't have just vanished without a trace. After you join the guild, you can slowly search for her. You'll definitely be able to see your mother again."

Noah comforted her softly. Wendy looked at him with tear-filled eyes. "Really? Will I really be able to see Grandeeney again?"

"Of course."

Hearing his answer, Wendy threw her arms around him and began to cry her heart out. Hearing her sobs, it was clear just how scared she had been all this time, and how much pressure she had been under. Noah gently patted her back, soothing her emotions.

When her crying slowly subsided, Noah took a tissue from his pocket and handed it to her. Wendy looked up, her face tear-streaked, and shyly took the tissue, quickly wiping her face clean. After throwing the used tissue away, she came back and sat next to him, her eyes still a little red.

"What about Jellal? Where did he go?"

"He entrusted you to me and then left. He said he had to go and do his own thing, and that it would be dangerous, so he couldn't let you follow."

"Mhm. Jellal told me," Wendy said in a low voice. She pulled her knees up to her chest, wrapped her arms around them, and buried her head.

"By the way, I also invited Jellal to come to Fairy Tail and promised him he could visit you."

"Really?" Wendy's head shot up instantly, her eyes shining as she looked at him, her voice happy again.

"Of course. You'll be able to see him then."

"Heehee!" A happy smile spread across Wendy's face. Seeing her mood improve, Noah continued, "Right, I haven't asked you yet. Do you know any magic?"

"Mhm! Grandeeney taught me! I can use Sky Magic. I'm a Sky Dragon Slayer."

"Sky Magic? What can it do?"

"I can remove poison, reduce fevers, stop pain, heal injuries, and I know a lot of other support magic. But I haven't learned much about fighting, so I probably can't help much in a battle." As she spoke, tears began to well up in her eyes again.

Noah quickly told her, "Just the abilities you mentioned are already incredible. And as it happens, I'm a little confident in my own fighting skills. You can learn from me."

"Really? Can I learn from you?"

"Of course. You can also learn from the other members in the guild."

"That's wonderful!" A look of longing appeared in Wendy's eyes.

Noah smiled. "Then I'll take you to the wizard guild now. Let's go to Fairy Tail."

"Mhm!"

Noah turned to Roubaul. "Then I'll be heading back now."

"Mhm. Go on."

"Goodbye, Grandpa!" Wendy waved to Roubaul.

He smiled pleasantly and waved back.

"Don't be afraid. I'll take you there right now." Noah placed his hand on Wendy's shoulder, activated his teleportation magic, and in an instant, they were at the entrance of the guild.

"What was that just now?" The scenery had changed so suddenly that Wendy was startled. She quickly grabbed onto Noah's clothes and hid behind him.

"That was instantaneous movement. It lets you travel to your destination in an instant. It's pretty convenient, isn't it?"

"Mhm! Noah, you're amazing!" Wendy looked at him with shining eyes, full of admiration.

"You'll see many more new and amazing things in the future. You can look forward to it!"

"Mhm!"

Noah pointed to the guild in front of them. "This is the wizard guild, Fairy Tail. It's the guild I joined."

"It's so big!" Wendy looked up at the three-story building. Her small body and the huge building created a strong contrast, making her seem even more petite.

"Do fairies have tails? Do they even exist? We don't know. And that's why it's an eternal mystery, and an eternal adventure. That's the meaning contained in our guild's name." Noah recited the words that were said to every new member.

Wendy looked up at the guild's flag flying from the roof and said with a longing tone, "Fairy Tail... an eternal adventure? That's wonderful!"

"If you join, you can go on that eternal adventure with us. Come on!"

Noah held out his hand. Wendy placed her own small hand in his. Holding it gently, Noah turned and pushed open the great doors of the guild.
