Chapter 514: We're Home!
With a flash of light, Noah's figure materialized in the celestial plaza, accompanied by Pisces, who had served as his dimensional anchor.
"That was fast!" Sorano blinked in surprise.
"Did you already forget? The time ratio between the Celestial Spirit World and the Human World is drastically different," Noah rolled his eyes. "I spent a few hours in Earthland conducting a thorough perimeter sweep and inspecting the underwater arrays. For you guys, only a few minutes passed. Of course it felt fast."
"Hehe! My bad," Sorano stuck her tongue out playfully.
"How does the situation over there look?" Erza asked, immediately getting down to business.
"It looks good. Every single navigational array is intact and fully operational. Acnologia is long gone. I pushed my sensory net to the absolute maximum limit and found zero anomalies or lingering magical signatures," Noah reported.
"Thank goodness," Makarov let out a heavy sigh of relief, echoing the collective sentiment of the guild.
"My friends, are you preparing to depart?" the Celestial Spirit King asked, his booming voice tinged with slight melancholy.
"Yeah, it's time for us to go," Noah nodded. "Given the time dilation, we've already been gone for over two months in Earthland time. If we stay any longer, the guild members back home are going to go insane with worry."
The Celestial Spirit King nodded understandingly. The logic was sound.
Hearing that it was time to leave, the Fairy Tail mages began exchanging heartfelt goodbyes with their newfound Celestial Spirit friends. Several spirits even gifted small, magical trinkets and souvenirs to the mages they had bonded with.
"My old friends, remember this: the stars will always watch over you," the Celestial Spirit King boomed warmly, addressing Noah and Lucy directly.
"Thank you for everything!" Lucy beamed, bowing deeply.
"We will be in your care moving forward," Scorpio said, offering Lucy a cool salute.
"Whenever you require our assistance, do not hesitate to call upon us," Capricorn bowed respectfully.
"I'll be sure to pop into the guildhall to say hi soon!" Loke grinned, adjusting his glasses.
"E-Everyone, please continue to take good care of Lady Lucy!" Aries squeaked, bowing frantically. The rest of Lucy's contracted Zodiac spirits nodded in agreement behind her.
The Fairy Tail mages smiled warmly. Even if Aries hadn't asked, they would always protect Lucy. She was family.
"Little Yukino, if you ever need anything, just call for us, okay?" Pisces (Mother) smiled gently, patting Yukino's head.
"That's right! We've got your back!" Pisces (Son) added cheerfully.
Noah had already finalized the transfer of ownership. The moment they returned to Earthland, he would formally terminate his contract with Pisces, allowing Yukino to forge her own bond with the twin spirits. They had spent the entire banquet getting to know her, and they were eager for the new partnership.
"I will! Thank you!" Yukino nodded vigorously, clutching her keys tightly.
"I shall also assist you to the best of my abilities," Libra added softly.
"Mhm!" Yukino beamed.
As the farewells wrapped up, Noah manifested a new Thought Projection.
He had dismissed his previous projection just before the S-Class trials began. This new projection, fueled by his vastly expanded magical reserves, was significantly stronger and more stable. It would remain in the Celestial Spirit World to continue studying and researching the dimension's vast archives of ancient, lost magic.
"Farewell, my friends! May the guidance of the stars be with you always!" the Celestial Spirit King roared cheerfully. With a majestic sweep of his cape, the towering giant vanished into the starry void.
"The Spirits really love you, don't they?" Erza smiled, turning to Lucy.
"They really are the best partners anyone could ask for," Lucy sniffled, rubbing her teary eyes.
"Alright, everyone back inside the barrier. We're heading home," Noah announced.
Waving one final time to the Spirits, the guild members walked back across the bridge of starlight and re-entered Tenrou Island's golden dome.
Once everyone was safely inside, Noah brought up his holographic console. He typed rapidly, executing a sequence of complex commands.
Suddenly, the entire island shuddered. A colossal, incredibly intricate magic circle materialized directly beneath the island, acting as a supportive foundation.
Simultaneously, the golden dome surrounding them flared with blinding intensity.
By activating the island's primary matrix, Noah had successfully established a connection with the submerged accumulator nodes back in Earthland, perfectly locking onto their original spatial coordinates.
"Brace yourselves! We're jumping!" Noah shouted.
The guild mages instantly grabbed hold of whatever was nearby, bracing their legs.
A split second later, the golden dome erupted with a light so blinding that even the Celestial Spirits watching from outside were forced to shield their eyes.
When the light faded, Tenrou Island was completely gone. The massive magic circle that had supported it rapidly shrank and dissolved into the starry void.
"They have departed. Now, it is our turn to utilize the magical arrays Noah left behind," Loke announced to the gathered Spirits.
The Spirits nodded in agreement. A Celestial Spirit Mage's overall combat strength was determined by two factors: the summoner's own magical capacity, and the inherent strength of the contracted Spirit. A strong summoner could draw out a Spirit's full potential, but if the Spirit's baseline strength was too low, they would inevitably become a bottleneck, limiting the summoner's tactical options.
Seeing the apocalyptic threats Lucy and the others were beginning to face, the Spirits knew they desperately needed to increase their own power to remain useful.
While the Celestial Spirit World had its own traditional methods for increasing a Spirit's power, those methods required centuries of slow, gradual accumulation. Given the time dilation between the realms, their traditional growth rate simply couldn't keep pace with the rapidly escalating threats in the Human World.
However, the starlight purification arrays Noah had left behind perfectly solved this problem.
The arrays were designed to hyper-compress and refine starlight—the fundamental energy source of all Celestial Spirits. By bathing in the arrays, the Spirits could rapidly and safely exponentially increase their baseline strength. The only minor side effect was a temporary loss of magical control following the rapid power spike, but that was a trivial inconvenience.
Eager to grow stronger for their summoners, Loke and the other Spirits rushed toward the purification arrays. Under the guidance of Noah's Thought Projection, they began their training.
Earthland. The original coordinates of Tenrou Island.
VMMMMMM!
A colossal magic circle suddenly materialized deep within the churning ocean. The sheer spatial displacement violently pushed the surrounding seawater outward, creating a massive, momentary void in the center of the sea.
With a blinding flash of light, Tenrou Island materialized flawlessly directly above the magic circle.
"WAAAAAH!"
Despite bracing themselves, the jarring, instantaneous shift in gravity and spatial pressure caused the vast majority of the Fairy Tail mages to lose their footing and tumble onto the grass. Only the S-Class mages managed to remain standing.
Noah, entirely unaffected by the spatial turbulence, rapidly typed on his holographic console. He meticulously adjusted the island's alignment, shifting it incrementally until it perfectly re-synchronized with the subterranean magical leylines it had originally occupied.
Once the island was firmly anchored, Noah partially deactivated the environmental seal on the barrier.
A warm, salty ocean breeze swept across the island, gently ruffling everyone's hair. Smelling the familiar scent of the Earthland sea, the mages broke into wide, exhausted, but incredibly happy smiles.
"Are we heading straight back to Magnolia now?" Ultear asked, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.
"I'll teleport you guys back first. I need to return here briefly to process some spoils of war," Noah replied, glancing toward the forest.
Parked safely within the island's barrier was Grimoire Heart's massive airship. It had been pulled into the Celestial Spirit World and brought back completely intact.
To Noah, the airship was a massive treasure trove. It undoubtedly contained decades' worth of Precht's meticulous magical research, forbidden archives, and experimental data. Analyzing those archives would save Noah years of independent research. Furthermore, once he reverse-engineered the vessel's propulsion and stealth systems, he could easily retrofit it into a dedicated, high-speed transport for the guild.
"Alright, send us back first. I'm sure the guild is worried sick," Mirajane nodded.
The others agreed. The ship they had originally used to sail to Tenrou Island was also safely harbored on the shore, but sailing back to Magnolia would take days. Noah's teleportation magic would get them home instantly, and after everything they had been through, they just wanted to sleep in their own beds.
"Got it," Noah nodded. He tapped the console, causing the visible golden dome to fade into transparency. He maintained the optical and sensory cloaking functions, ensuring the island remained completely hidden from the outside world.
"First Master, you're coming with us, right?" Noah asked, turning to Mavis.
"Hmm... alright. I think I will," Mavis smiled, seeing the hopeful, eager looks on her 'children's' faces. They obviously didn't want to leave her alone on an empty island, and she was genuinely curious to see what the modern Fairy Tail guildhall looked like.
"Wait, is it safe for the First Master to travel that far away from Tenrou Island?" Lucy suddenly realized the potential issue.
Mavis was a spectral entity tethered to her physical grave on the island. Even when she visited the Celestial Spirit World, she hadn't physically strayed far from the island's boundaries. Magnolia was hundreds of miles away.
"That's a very good point," Makarov's expression turned serious. "We desperately want you to come with us, First Master, but absolutely not if it risks your existence or causes you pain."
"Don't worry, Grandpa. I've already factored that in," Noah reassured him. "To avoid the stress of an instantaneous, long-distance spatial jump, I won't teleport her. I'll have my Thought Projection physically escort her and fly back to Magnolia at a steady pace, monitoring her spectral stability the entire way."
"That sounds acceptable. But you must prioritize her safety above all else," Makarov instructed sternly.
"Of course," Noah nodded.
"You worry too much. I'll monitor my own condition. If I feel myself fading, I'll simply stop," Mavis smiled warmly.
"What about us?!" Sorano demanded, pointing impatiently at herself and the rest of the guild.
"I'm sending you right now," Noah chuckled.
He manifested a Thought Projection, which stepped to Mavis's side.
Noah's true body raised his hand. In a flash of golden light, every single member of the guild—aside from Mavis and the clone—vanished from Tenrou Island.
With the guild safely transported, Noah's Thought Projection cast a gentle levitation spell, and he and Mavis took to the sky, flying toward Magnolia at a moderate, leisurely pace.
Magnolia. Fairy Tail Guildhall.
With a collective flash of light, the entire S-Class trial group materialized directly in front of the guild's massive oak doors.
Staring up at the familiar, comforting emblem above the entrance, a surreal sense of chronological whiplash washed over them. Given the apocalyptic battles and the time dilation, it felt like they had been gone for years, rather than a few days of subjective time.
"WE'RE HOME!" Natsu roared, kicking the heavy oak doors wide open and charging inside.
The guildhall, which had been buzzing with a tense, chaotic energy, instantly fell dead silent. Every single head snapped toward the entrance.
"We're back!"
"Hey guys!"
"Miss us?"
Ultear, Erza, Gray, and the others streamed in behind Natsu, waving cheerfully at their stunned guildmates.
"Y-You're really back..."
Sitting behind the bar, Macao stared at the group, his eyes wide in absolute disbelief before a massive, shuddering sigh of relief escaped his lips. A weary but incredibly happy smile spread across his face.
A few months ago, representatives from the Magic Council had suddenly arrived in Magnolia, grimly informing them that Tenrou Island had been completely obliterated by the Black Dragon, Acnologia. Since Makarov, Noah, and the entire core fighting force of the guild were on the island at the time, the Council officially presumed them all dead.
When Macao first heard the news, he felt his entire world collapse. Absolute, paralyzing panic had gripped the remaining guild members.
But then, Macao remembered the highly classified, cryptic instructions Laxus had given him and Wakaba right before the S-Class trials began.
