In Fourth Wing, Allaria Arcane-Nightingale-Daramor is nineteen years old, her mother is a high ranking general. Allaria is the best friend of Violet Sorrengail, whose twenty years old and is forced by her mother, a military general, to give up her goal of becoming a scribe, and instead enroll into the elite dragon riding university. The training of dragon riders is both brutal, challenging, and competitive, with only a fraction of cadets survive through the first year of their training. The goal of the dragon university is to bond with a dragon, so they can bestowed with powers that come from the bond… or die trying.
