I never thought I would say this, but I was wrong again. Today is my 18th birthday, and I was right this time! I finally got to meet him! I was so excited, but also a little scared. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but I knew it was going to be okay. My mom said everything was going to be alright. I just hoped I didn't make a fool of myself. "Bailey, how does your hair look?" my mom asked, turning me around to face her. "It looks great, mom. You did an excellent job, as always." I smiled at her, and she smiled back at me. "Okay, let's go." We walked out of our house, and I couldn't help but think about how today was going to change my life forever. I had been hearing stories about the Nightshades ever since I was little. My parents told me about how we were connected, and that one day I would marry into their family. It all sounded so strange and scary when I was younger. I didn't understand why we had to follow the blood pact between our families. As I grew up and learned more about magic and the world of vampires, though, I started to understand why it was all so important. The Nightshades were a well-known family in the bloodsucking society. They were wealthy and powerful, and the Love family was lucky to have them as allies.
I followed my mom up the winding stone path that led to the Nightshade mansion. My heart was pounding against my ribs, and I couldn't help but feel a little nervous. The house was enormous, with sharp angles and dark windows that seemed to stare back at me. As we approached the front door, I could feel the weight of history bearing down on me. The Nightshades had lived here for centuries, and their presence still lingered in every corner of the estate. I could smell it in the air - a sweet vanilla scent mixed with something metallic and sharp. My wolf senses were on high alert, and I could feel my fur standing on end as we reached the entrance. A tall, thin man with a stern expression opened the heavy wooden doors and greeted us. "Welcome, Mrs. Love." he said, bowing slightly. "Please come in."
We stepped inside, and I couldn't help but gasp at the sight before me. The foyer was dimly lit, with blood-red carpeting leading up to a grand staircase. The walls were adorned with ancient tapestries and paintings of dark forests and moonlit skies. My mom squeezed my hand tightly as we followed the butler through the foyer and into a large sitting room. The room was filled with plush furniture and expensive artwork, but what caught my attention was the figure standing by the window. He was tall and lean, with long black hair that fell to his shoulders. His eyes were a deep blue that seemed to see right through me. As he turned to face us, I felt my breath catch in my throat. "Damian." my mom said, smiling warmly at him. "It's so nice to see you again." "The pleasure is all mine." Damian replied, his voice low and smooth as honey.
