Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Monsters Are Resources Too!

Although Shen Yu hadn't mentioned it before, this isn't a situation that's hard to understand.

He was already racing through thoughts in his mind, considering what his side could offer.

In fact, the moment Huang Jingrong first heard the name "Multi-Dimensional Apocalypse Civilization Mutual Aid Association," he'd already formed a rough idea in his heart.

And the three member rules Shen Yu mentioned afterward only solidified this guess.

At first glance, this Association seems more like a platform.

It's a safe place for civilizations also struggling through the apocalypse, somewhere to exchange what they need.

Even so, for Doomsday Civilizations, it's vitally important—maybe even their only hope of survival.

After all, based on current predictions, their civilization is locked into a "doomsday fate," and the Association is the only variable in that fate.

But—what could they bring to the table for the other side?

Would an Interstellar Civilization lack productivity? Lack technology? Or lack natural resources?

Huang Jingrong instantly realized the tricky part.

Facing a civilization so much more advanced in technology, production, and resources, Human Civilization can hardly offer anything valuable in a trade.

But there *must* be something!

Otherwise, this person wouldn't have come.

Just as Huang Jingrong was about to figure it out, Shen Yu spoke first.

"Monsters," he said.

Those words were like a flash of light, suddenly bursting into flames in Huang Jingrong's mind!

That's right—monsters!

Their world still has monsters!

Monsters are a type of resource, too!

"That's exactly why I came—and why I'm willing to form a mutual aid agreement," interstellar world Shen Yu said, speaking up at that moment. "Our world is being invaded as well, with clearly defined enemies. The monsters appearing in your world are extremely unique—suspected to contain specialized technology and have significant military research value."

This was also the result of Shen Yu's recent discussion with his interstellar self.

Right now, interstellar world Shen Yu is just an ordinary soldier about to enlist in the military in his own world—he's eager to prove his worth and gain higher status.

Only then can he provide powerful enough weapons and technologies to other worlds.

And at the same time, better help his own civilization.

Compared to the slow results of Martial Arts, the meteorite monsters here on Mother Star meet the need for value in the early phase much better!

Even with just the three types of monsters they currently know about, calling them biological weapons would not be an exaggeration.

Some even seem to possess Extraordinary qualities.

And in this moment, Huang Jingrong's thoughts were spinning at full speed.

What are the downsides to trading monsters with this Interstellar Civilization?

Almost none!

Firstly, monsters come in multiples—research likely wouldn't require all of them, so they can still keep some to study themselves.

Secondly, the other side's scientific capabilities are clearly far superior, so the chance of gaining useful results is much higher.

If they can share the outcomes, it'll also help them solve the monster problem.

More importantly, since this is a trade, those monsters could be exchanged for urgently needed technology or even advanced equipment for Human Civilization!

Joy surged in Huang Jingrong's heart—like a drowning man suddenly glimpsing a lifebuoy, that desperate grasp at hope and sight of light kept swirling inside him.

He finally understood: this is the true meaning behind the existence of the Multi-Dimensional Apocalypse Civilization Mutual Aid Association!

"I need to report this up, but it shouldn't be any problem," Huang Jingrong said at once.

With his level of clearance, he can't give any concrete guarantees.

But he honestly couldn't think of any reason this would be refused.

This is the only visible thread of hope right now, something that could save this critically endangered civilization, and countless lives.

No exaggeration—anyone who tries to obstruct this would become the enemy of all Human Civilization!

"As for the specifics of the trade, I welcome member Shen Yu to reach out to my world and discuss anytime," interstellar world Shen Yu turned to Shen Yu again. "If capturing monsters is difficult, I can also provide some technological support in advance as a deposit—just like the previous 'gift'."

Only now did Huang Jingrong learn that the earlier gift actually was a kind of "deposit."

But being able to come up with the idea of trading monsters—and actually attract such powerful support—

Shen Yu forming such a huge company in such a short time wasn't just thanks to skill alone.

Suddenly, Huang Jingrong felt a little fortunate: given the importance and irreplaceability of a member, their civilization's representative is Shen Yu, and not someone lacking strategic vision, ability, virtue, or even a misanthropic or anti-social type—a real stroke of luck.

"Let's leave it at that for now. This time, I only came to have a look at your world," interstellar world Shen Yu walked up to the window, gently pulling aside a corner of the curtain. Watching the towers outside, the bustling traffic, he murmured, "May our worlds and civilizations endure forever."

"May our worlds and civilizations endure forever!" Shen Yu repeated the words, deeply solemn.

The next moment, interstellar world Shen Yu's figure vanished into a swirl of Gray Mist.

Only four people remained at the scene.

After a brief silence, Huang Jingrong finally let out a long breath, flopping back onto the sofa.

Even though Shen Yu before him was just as special and important, the pressure compared to that guest just now was much lighter.

After all, this one is—no matter what—"one of our own."

"Boss Shen, today you really gave us a huge surprise—although it was a bit overwhelming. If you could have given us some forewarning, more time to prepare, that would've been even better." Huang Jingrong said to Shen Yu with a slightly bitter smile.

Looking back on his performance just now, Huang Jingrong felt he hadn't done very well.

But it all happened so suddenly—and was a massive shock.

Even now he still felt it was almost unbelievable.

"I'd have liked to take things slow too—only come when everything was ready. But time isn't on our side, crisis waits for no one." Shen Yu shook his head, settling back in his chair. "Yesterday I looked through some relevant reports and got a real scare—not just the giant worms over five kilometers long, even the neighboring eye bugs already caused over a million deaths. And just yesterday, with the newly appeared zombies, tens of thousands died in a single day."

As he spoke, Shen Yu's expression grew grim.

Yes, it's absolutely terrible.

Especially those latter two—their spread and expansion is at a terrifying pace!

Frankly, unless there's some major breakthrough, we won't even need to wait for the meteorite eight years from now—just these two kinds of monsters right now are enough to wipe out all Human Civilization.
