The 'refund only' feature has indeed sparked quite a bit of controversy since its inception, but it has also brought many benefits.
Although there's often news online about users exploiting the refund-only mechanism to get freebies.
But if there was no refund-only policy, it would lead to another problem.
That's if consumers purchase small items costing a few dollars, or a dozen or so.
The merchant might hype these products to the skies, claiming how cost-effective they are.
Then later the consumer finds out these things are completely unusable, pure junk, just taking up space at home.
But if they want to return them, trouble arises because the merchant doesn't offer refund insurance, so the consumer has to pay for the postage to return the items.
Personal mailing does not have discounts, so even the smallest items cost seven, eight, or more dollars to send back.
This is too costly for the consumer, it's better just to keep the item and leave a bad review.
