Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Cleaning Wounds

While Chen Wen was battling with the shark.

To the south.

The members of the men's group were distributing weapons.

The weapons provided by the program crew were finely crafted iron implements, and there was even a crossbow.

This was specially provided because the men's group had no archer.

With so many weapons, everyone felt more confident.

After all, all the guys had pretty good physical fitness, holding these things, were they still afraid of a big cat no bigger than Alaska?

Everyone waved their weapons, eager to try their skills in the forest now.

"When do we go?"

A few young men were full of excitement, wishing they could charge into the forest now and drag out that damned Black Panther!

Seeing the current scene, Ding Decai, who regained the right to speak, smiled proudly.

He waved his hand: "Go! Let's kill that Black Panther now! We'll have meat for dinner!"

"Roar!"

Everyone cheered, holding up their weapons.

But most things in this world go against one's wishes.

After the men's group confidently entered the rainforest.

Swarms of mosquitoes, unpredictable swamps, gnarled tree roots...

The harsh environment gave the men's group its first lesson.

They hadn't even seen the Black Panther yet, and there were already casualties.

The young Zhuo Hongnian, being careless while traveling, stepped on a broken branch, leaving a gaping wound on his sole.

"No, if we keep going like this, something bad will happen sooner or later!"

Wang Zhi promptly called a halt.

He supported Zhuo Hongnian, preparing to head back.

But Ding Decai merely glanced at the two, then turned his head: "We continue, Lu Heng, you take them back."

"Is it appropriate to split up at this moment?"

Lu Heng asked, "The rainforest environment is beyond our expectations, how about going back and making a long-term plan."

Ding Decai shook his head: "He was just careless, weren't the others walking fine? You guys go back, don't drag down the main force."

Having said that, Ding Decai urged everyone to leave, leaving only Lu Heng and the other two.

Wang Zhi gritted his teeth, looking at the pale Zhuo Hongnian: "Let's go, Mr. Lu, let's head back first and treat Zhuo's foot."

"In the tropical rainforest area, letting a wound fester will lead to big trouble!"

Hearing this, Lu Heng no longer cared about the seven who left.

He was well aware of the consequences if the wound wasn't properly treated.

The humid and warm tropical region was practically a hotbed for germs.

Any open wound, if not treated promptly, would inevitably worsen.

"I'll carry him, you lead with the weapon."

Lu Heng handed his long spear to Wang Zhi, carrying Zhuo Hongnian back.

...

Chen Wen's side.

He dragged his prey, braved the scorching sun, and returned to the shelter.

After returning, the first thing Chen Wen did was treat his wounds.

As a crew member, he too understood the rapid speed at which wounds deteriorate in a warm and humid environment.

Especially wounds on the feet.

If not treated promptly, in a few days, even walking would become an issue.

Becoming crippled would be fatal to Chen Wen!

Therefore, he didn't even have time to process his prey before he started cleaning his wounds.

Chen Wen had two severe wounds.

One was on the sole of his right foot, a cut made by the sharp edge of a coral reef.

The other was at the base of his right middle finger, where a piece of flesh the size of a fingernail was shaved off by a Swiss Army knife.

Aside from these two, the other wounds were considered minor.

The wound on the right foot was quite serious.

Chen Wen examined it carefully and found that the wound had turned white after being soaked in seawater.

This wasn't a good sign.

Chen Wen frowned, quickly thinking of a solution.

The most important thing now was to clean the wound and apply medicine.

But Chen Wen had no medicine on hand, nor anything to clean the wound with.

What to do?

Thinking about how he had nothing at hand, Chen Wen couldn't help but panic a little.

But after two loud slaps to his ears.

Chen Wen forced himself to calm down.

"Eat your meal bite by bite, solve your problems one at a time!"

Chen Wen stared at the wound, continuing to analyze: "First, I need to clean the wound, seawater definitely won't do, even though it contains salt, it also has a lot of impurities and bacteria, using seawater for disinfection is like drinking poison!"

"Then only freshwater will do."

But to get freshwater, one would have to cross forests, rainforests, and swamps.

And in Chen Wen's current state, it was difficult to complete these tasks.

Not to mention, there was something in the rainforest also hungry.

Going now...

The other party would definitely say: Yo, are you from Meituan, or Ele.me?

No way!

Neither freshwater nor seawater would do, then what would?

Chen Wen slapped his forehead, trying to beat out some inspiration.

And just then, as his gaze swept past the things beside him, something caught his attention.

"Coconut."

Chen Wen picked up a young coconut, looking at it closely.

There was water inside the coconut, and it was drinkable freshwater.

But can coconut water disinfect?

Chen Wen felt like there was a question mark.

He was fairly clear about the composition of coconut water.

Amino acids, vitamins, minerals.

Mature coconut water also contained fats.

It seemed usable for cleaning wounds.

And coconut water had always been sealed inside the coconut shell, so there was little chance of bacteria.

So, should he give it a try?

Chen Wen carefully considered the pros and cons.

If he didn't use coconut water, he couldn't think of anything else to clean the wounds with.

Then he would have to go into the forest to collect freshwater.

The process of collecting freshwater was equally as risky as this coral reef trip.

Chen Wen certainly couldn't withstand such a journey now.

As for seawater, it could only be a lower substitute for coconut water.

Seawater clearly contained bacteria.

In the end, Chen Wen decided to use coconut water to clean his wounds.

This was the best choice he could make under the circumstances.

Chen Wen took out a plastic thermos cup.

To say it's a plastic thermos cup is not quite accurate.

Because plastic does not insulate.

This was likely a cheap double-layer plastic cup bought by that crew member, with poor insulation.

However, the cup was quite new, seemingly not used much.

Chen Wen planned to use this cup to hold the coconut water for cleaning the wounds.

After he smashed the coconut with a rock, Chen Wen collected the coconut water.

He opened three coconuts.

After feeling that the coconut water was about sufficient.

Chen Wen took the cup and first cleaned the wounds on his foot and leg.

After mentally preparing himself.

He tilted the cup, letting the coconut water flow out.

It didn't hurt, it felt cool.

Chen Wen extended his hand, using the rush of coconut water to rub the skin around the wound.

That hurt.

Enduring the pain, Chen Wen began cleaning the wound on his foot.

This hurt even more!

Grimacing, he cleaned the wound on the foot, then continued to clean the wound on his right hand.

This one bled a lot, and most importantly a piece of flesh was missing, the wound was directly exposed to the air.

Extremely dangerous!

After rinsing the wound, Chen Wen was already breaking out in a cold sweat on his back.

This was the most painful!

Chen Wen could even see the bone of his right middle finger through the wound.

"Damn it, 'deep enough to see the bone' literally materialized!"

Cursing, Chen Wen used the Swiss Army knife to cut up the crew member's clothes, making two simple bandages.

One wrapped his foot, the other his hand.

After a simple dressing.

The wounds were considered treated.

Chen Wen lay straight on the leaves inside the hut.

So tired!

He needed to rest for a while, sleep, and then do other things.
