Chapter 17 - is max dead

Max (firm):

This isn't justice.

What you're doing… it's murder.

Roy (cold smile):

You know why the Lady of Justice wears a blindfold?

He steps closer, gripping the gun tighter.

Roy:

Because justice… is blind.

And that's exactly why it's never served right.

Max (pleading):

Let me help you. We'll get your brother out, I promise.

Roy (bitter):

It's too late.

I'll meet him soon… after I kill you.

He cocks the gun.

Roy (voice breaking into rage):

And you know what else?

Max freezes.

Roy:

You stopped me from saving Libby .

Max:

What…?

Roy (teeth clenched):

Six months ago. I saw that railing about to collapse.

I ran to help… but you stopped me — told me it was too dangerous.

And then she died.

Crushed.

Right in front of me.

Roy (furious, pointing the gun):

If you hadn't stopped me…

She would still be alive.

And I… wouldn't be this monster.

Max's eyes widen. Roy steps closer. Finger on the trigger.

Max (softly):

Roy… I'm sorry, but—

Roy (furious):

Sorry? You forgot it so easily.

The one who suffers never forgets the pain.

He points the gun at Max and fires — but Max shifts his weight just in time. The chair crashes sideways to the ground. Max groans, unable to move further.

Max (pleading):

Roy… I'm really sorry…

Roy (stepping on his chest, furious):

Screw your damn sorry!

He aims the gun at Max's head and pulls the trigger — click. No bullets.

Max (panting):

If you kill me… you'll spend the rest of your life in jail.

Roy (laughs creepily):

You think I'm scared of jail?

He begins reloading the gun slowly.

Max (desperate):

Your life will be ruined, Roy!

Roy (coldly):

I don't have a life anymore.

This system took everything from me —

and now… it gave me every reason to destroy it.

He points the gun again
