Chapter 19 - Unfathomable

So... that's it? Uchiha Mikoto, you did all this just to sleep next to me? And you deliberately pushed me aside?

Uchiha Yin's face twitched, his forehead creasing in confusion.

Even with Uchiha Yin's sharp mind, he couldn't understand what Uchiha Mikoto's intentions were.

But it didn't seem to harm him in any way?

Yin shrugged it off, his body slightly turning toward Mikoto, feigning sleep.

In truth, he had already cracked his eyes open, squinting just enough to remain unnoticed in the dim light of night.

Uchiha Mikoto was different from Uzumaki Kushina. At 12, Mikoto was already a blossoming young girl.

Upon closer inspection, Mikoto—who wasn't described much in the original story—would undoubtedly grow into a beauty rivaling Kushina and Tsunade.

Her gentle personality and appearance would only make her more endearing.

Was it really okay to leave such a cousin to Uchiha Fugaku's emotionless face?

Yin couldn't help but entertain a bold thought.

Moreover, as far as Yin knew, Mikoto and Fugaku hadn't even met yet. There was still a chance!

Lost in thought, Yin suddenly opened his eyes.

People in the Naruto world were always fiercely independent. Mikoto had slept separately from her parents since she was very young.

Mikoto never expected she'd end up in Yin's bed that night.

At first, she was incredibly shy. When Yin turned toward her, she even jumped, thinking he'd woken up, almost crying out.

Fortunately, she was confident in her ninjutsu.

Her modified genjutsu, Nirvana Hermitage Technique, wasn't effective against those stronger than her or resistant to genjutsu, but she was certain she was far stronger than Yin. Putting him into a deep sleep should be no problem.

So, Yin's turning must have been purely instinctive.

Reassured, Mikoto sighed in relief, patting her chest. "I really scared myself," she muttered.

Once she confirmed Yin was asleep, Mikoto relaxed, studying him carefully.

His flawless, pale face exuded sharp, cold handsomeness; his deep, dark eyes shimmered mysteriously; his thick brows, high nose, and perfect lips all radiated nobility and elegance.

"I didn't expect the bratty kid from back then to grow up so handsome," Mikoto murmured.

"Is that so? Thanks for the compliment," Yin replied, his eyes now open, staring at her.

"Ah!!!!"

Mikoto let out a piercing scream, her face instantly flushing red.

"Y-You're still awake?!"

"Why wouldn't I be? Shouldn't you be the one explaining?" Yin teased.

A mischievous thought crossed his mind—he wanted to scare Mikoto a little.

It seemed to work perfectly, though her scream was so loud it hurt his ears.

Luckily, their house had good soundproofing, or they might've disturbed the neighbors.

Mikoto was at a loss for words. She'd come here solely because of the system's task, but how could she explain that now?

Not wanting to reveal her system, she struggled to come up with a reasonable excuse, stammering and avoiding eye contact, making her seem adorably flustered.

"Mikoto-nee, you're not falling for me, are you?" Yin teased.

Pushed to her limit, Mikoto, usually shy, suddenly grew bold at Yin's smirk.

"What nonsense! You little brat, your mind isn't pure at all!" she scolded, glaring at him.

"Don't overthink it. Just go to sleep," she added, feeling her words weren't enough.
