After receiving Lin Qianyi's message, Fang Jun immediately rushed to the library.
He had always valued outstanding students.
"What's your situation now? Isn't there still a month before you report in? Can't even wait that long?" Fang Jun asked in confusion.
Lin Qianyi looked over the middle-aged man in the gray clothes across from him and said, "Boss, I want to improve so badly. Doing nothing every day feels like I'm just wasting time."
Fang Jun was speechless. "You call a month wasted? You chose the Plant Evolution Guidance major—later on, even a single high-level plant will take years to cultivate and nurture. Now you get a little time to relax and you're not happy?"
Back then, he hadn't really wanted Lin Qianyi to choose this major.
It's not that it wasn't doable, but it was niche, and took a long time to show results.
He had recommended "Materials Application Studies" instead.
That was a hot field, one with stable job prospects, and every industry needed someone skilled in materials.
Unfortunately, Lin Qianyi was dead set on studying Plant Evolution Guidance, and there was nothing Fang Jun could do.
"Boss, a month is a long time. I could widen the gap between me and others a lot in that time. I can't wait to be a workhorse in university!" Lin Qianyi said.
"You weren't this enthusiastic when choosing your major," Fang Jun couldn't help but comment.
"Can't help it if I didn't like the others, right?"
Lin Qianyi took out a pack of beef jerky from his pocket, ate a piece himself, and handed one to Fang Jun.
He'd brought it from home that morning.
He used to eat this while training, and there was still plenty at home.
Fang Jun took one, chewing thoughtfully. "I'll ask around for you, but no promises."
"Is it that much trouble?" Lin Qianyi asked. "I heard some seniors have done it before."
"It's not a big deal. We just need Principal Wang to stamp the documents and enter your info early. But Tianyue University will also need to prep your admission materials. They might not want to work overtime for you," Fang Jun replied.
Lin Qianyi completely understood.
People procrastinate—it's uncomfortable doing something today that's due the day after tomorrow.
"I'm counting on you, Boss!" Lin Qianyi offered the beef jerky with both hands.
"Just wait for news."
Fang Jun took the jerky and left.
---
It was noon.
Lin Qianyi had spent the entire morning in the library playing on his computer and was getting a bit bored.
Around noon, he got a message from Wang Xiaoyi. By the flowerbed, she handed him a heated lunchbox.
Opening it, he found braised ribs and stir-fried greens.
"Girl, your cooking has improved again!" Lin Qianyi gave her a thumbs-up.
"Hehe, senior, try it and see if it's good!" Wang Xiaoyi said excitedly.
Lin Qianyi took a bite—it was good, though not quite as good as his own cooking. Still, he praised her, "It's great. We're neck and neck now. You must've been studying the recipes I gave you seriously!"
Wang Xiaoyi used to cook but rarely did so.
She often relied on instant meals or takeout.
After one meal Lin Qianyi cooked for her, which she found delicious, she offered to make him lunch from then on.
At first, he declined—but that didn't work. He understood her feelings.
But Lin Qianyi didn't like taking advantage of people for free, so he compensated in other ways.
Like buying groceries for her, under the excuse that she didn't know how to shop well.
"I'll buy, you cook."
If they had to keep things strictly even, there'd be no need for any of this.
In a way, Lin Qianyi had deliberately simplified himself as a person.
Otherwise, with his usual attitude, he was someone who kept others at arm's length.
They chatted casually as they ate. Soon, the meal was finished.
When class time arrived, Wang Xiaoyi went back to her classroom.
She still had a heavy academic workload.
The standard entrance exam route had high requirements—academic and physical.
Lin Qianyi, academically, was only above average. Getting into a top university by exams alone would be tough.
He got in through a special admission thanks to his high "interference value."
Much of what was taught in school might not even be used in the future. Most of it was just to give students awareness.
Exams were just tools for filtering.
Since Lin Qianyi was excellent enough, he didn't need to take the test.
After sending the girl off, Lin Qianyi's consciousness shifted to his farming space.
The Sea God Grass he'd planted in the Trial World had fully matured.
"Time to harvest."
With a thought, a cold-glinting sickle flew through the air, sliced across the Sea God Grass, and uprooted it.
It felt like a cutscene. Though it was called harvesting, it was more like removing the entire plant.
[Notice: You have obtained one Sea God Grass of Excellent Quality.]
[Sea God Grass (Excellent): A Sea God Grass of excellent quality, its effects are significantly enhanced compared to regular Sea God Grass. [Delicious], [Bonus Trait: Super Sea God Power]]
[Delicious: It tastes better.]
[Super Sea God Power: The innate Sea God power is greatly enhanced.]
"Holy crap! A gold drop!"
He had hit the 5% chance of excellent quality—and even got a bonus trait.
That trait even showed up in light blue text.
According to game mechanics, each quality level improved the plant's effects tenfold.
What exactly did that mean? Lin Qianyi wasn't sure.
Was it a comprehensive stat increase? Or just greater benefit to the human body?
Or maybe a higher concentration of beneficial compounds?
Still needs testing.
And this one even had an extra amplifying trait.
The excellent quality already boosted its Sea God Power—and now the bonus trait doubled down.
The "Delicious" trait felt a bit weak, though. Could it be because he kept snacking on it lately, and his thoughts affected it?
Lin Qianyi was excited, but now wasn't the time to study it.
So he waited until the end of the day.
Back in the library, he killed time until school ended, chatted casually with Wang Xiaoyi on the way out, and then they parted.
Their school didn't have night classes. Even students with heavy workloads only had about 6–7 hours of class per day.
It was all about talent and background—if you were average, grinding endlessly wouldn't help.
Why bother?
Enjoy life when you can.
That was the attitude of the Federation.
Of course, it helped that the average age was 200 years.
That's right—200 years!
The Federation's medical tech was incredibly advanced. In theory, no disease was incurable.
Any bodily ailment could be fixed. If you had money, you could even undergo early-stage mechanical ascension.
Every part of your body—except the brain—could be replaced with artificial parts.
Even the brain had auxiliary processors for thought and calculation.
So even 200 was an understatement.
True Evolvers were famously long-lived. Many lived for hundreds, even thousands of years.
It was said that Domain Lords had near-10,000-year lifespans, and World Lords had virtually no limits on lifespan at all.
Back home, Lin Qianyi saw that the delivery zone on the balcony was stacked with packages.
These were all things he had ordered earlier.
Delivered by drone.
He moved everything to the living room, unboxed and stored them in his warehouse space.
Eventually, he unboxed his Demonic Eye Drone.
Red and black, shaped like a small orb. Once activated, its observation eye looked just like a real eyeball, and four rotor arms extended outward.
He recorded his voiceprint, fingerprint, and iris data, set a password, and linked it to his phone.
Then he had it follow him around the house.
No matter how he moved, it kept up smoothly, avoided obstacles, and relayed video with no noticeable lag.
Definitely worth the 3,700 federation credits—premium even among consumer drones.
Next came the multi-functional folding sword.
Similar to his old one, but with a serrated edge, it could cut, slice, and saw. It even had a built-in cord that could bear up to 200 kg—good for fishing or tying stuff up.
Finally, the Black God COS armor.
This was a replica of the early armor worn by one of the Federation's thirteen Domain Lords—the Black God.
A full-body suit made with quality 3D-printed material, even offering basic bullet resistance.
Once suited up, Lin Qianyi looked in the mirror.
The pitch-black armor covered everything. Only the belt and legs glowed with fake fusion-battery conduits—purely for show, since it didn't actually have any.
You could turn off the lights, making it nearly invisible in the dark. But the helmet still offered night vision.
He moved around for a bit—it was snug, comfortable, and lived up to its reputation as the top-selling Black God cosplay suit.
He took it off and stored it, then turned his focus back to the planting space.
He retrieved the excellent Sea God Grass from his inventory.
With a thought, it appeared on the living room table.
The next moment, a brilliant green light lit up the entire room.
The normal version only gave off a faint glow—this one looked like a green floodlight.
Lin Qianyi felt himself warming under the light.
He got spooked—felt like he was being exposed to radiation—and quickly put it away.
"So this is tenfold power? Feels like a completely different species! Is this still Sea God Grass?"
He was full of questions, but had no answers.
He didn't even dare use it.
Who knows if the toxicity had also been enhanced to an epic level?
He'd have to wait for a better opportunity to research it more thoroughly.
