Chapter 13 - First Day of Training Together

Sakura threw a Kunai, and it perfectly hit the target. However, instead of the target, Sakura's focus was towards her right.

She wiped the sweat from her forehead and, with a trace of embarrassment, finally managed to ask, "Why do you keep staring at me?"

"It's just that... your glistening skin makes me want to taste it." Sasuke took a few steps towards her and, while tracing her face with his rough hands, closed in towards her lips.

KYAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Sakura exclaimed while imagining the rest of the scene as she twisted and turned on her bed with excitement and anticipation.

"Sakura! Stop making noise and go to sleep!" Her mother's strict voice finally made some sanity appear in her eyes as she controlled herself and held onto her stuffed animal tightly to placate her enthusiastic self.

'Gosh! I just can't wait for tomorrow!' Sakura thought to herself as she finally forced herself to sleep.

...

"What the hell?" Sakura asked with disbelief apparent in her eyes.

"You heard me once, we'll be running twenty kilometres today," Sasuke said in a natural manner.

'T-Twenty..." Sakura muttered with a devastated expression on her face. The one thing she hated doing the most was running, and that's exactly what Sasuke wanted her to do.

Seeing Sasuke not bothering with her reluctance and wearing his own set of weights, Sakura could only swallow her misgivings and wear them on.

"Let's go then. The one who finishes last has to do a hundred pushups." Sasuke told Sakura and started running.

"NO-" Before Sakura could say anything, Sasuke had already left.

"Wait for me!" she exclaimed and followed after him.

'Well, at least she's following me well,' Sasuke glanced towards Sakura at his side. Despite her ragged state, her pace was good enough.

Two hours passed by at a snail's pace, and Sakura was resting her hands on a tree while trying her best to recover her breath.

'God! I've never run so much in a day, even in the academy!' She exclaimed inwardly. A feeling of anger and indignation welled up inside her, but the moment she turned towards Sasuke to give life to these emotions, they all vanished.

"Shit! Why is he so handsome even now...I can't even get angry at him," Sakura muttered under her breath and focused on controlling her breathing instead.

"Did you say anything?" Sasuke asked when he heard some mutterings.

"Ah! Nothing. I said nothing, haha," Sakura responded in an embarrassed manner.

"Is that so? Then, if you've rested enough, start your hundred pushups now. It's already six in the evening, so you'd better finish it quickly if you want to go back and rest," Sasuke said without a hint of doubt in his words.

"H-Hundred pushups?!" Sakura asked in shock.

"Of course, you finished your twenty kilometres after me, didn't you? So make up for it with those pushups,"

'This monster! Where did my angelic Sasuke from earlier go...' Sakura whined in her heart, but she did it anyway. In her heart, she knew if she stayed weak, then she would only end up becoming a burden for the team.

Even in today's D-grade mission of finding a lost child, it was mostly Kakashi sensei and Sasuke who contributed the most. She was only able to watch everything from the side.

With this thing going on in her head, Sakura started performing her push-ups in reps of thirty.

Whenever she was taking a short break in between, she couldn't help but curiously stare at Sasuke, who was sitting under a tree in a meditative position with his eyes closed.

'He's even training to increase his mental focus after that gruelling run...I must make sure not to fall behind him,' Sakura peped herself up and began her next set of push-ups.

Meanwhile, Sasuke kept rolling his eyes under his closed eyelids like a maniac.

'It's good that I can do this with my eyes closed as well,' Sasuke thought to himself and opened his eyes after a few minutes to check his count.

Eye Rolling(Clockwise) - [3336/10,000]

'That's good enough, ' Sasuke thought to himself as he glanced at Sakura, whose entire body was shivering while she was performing her reps.

"She's almost done as well," Sasuke muttered and stood up to approach her.

"N-Ninety!" Sakura groaned with all her might as she pushed her body up before falling flat on the ground to take a breather.

"God, this is so exhausting!" She exclaimed exhaustedly.

Her vision was all blurry by now, and she could only stare vacantly at the setting sky to slowly recover it.

At that moment, Sasuke's face popped up in front of her.

Looking down at Sakura's face, Sasuke asked, "How many are left?"

"Ten..." Sakura muttered with a trace of exhaustion clear on her face. Even though it was just ten more push-ups, after doing ninety earlier, even doing one more felt monumental at the moment.

"Pretty good, finish up quickly as the sun is about to set now..." Sasuke said and paused briefly.

"This..." Sakura was about to request more time to rest, but stopped when she heard Sasuke's next words.

"...after that we'll go and have some ramen together." Noticing that Sakura was about to say something, Sasuke looked at her inquisitively, "Yes, what was it?"

'Dinner date with Sasuke letssss goooo' Flames of passion burned in Sakura's eyes as, without even responding to Sasuke's words, she started doing the remaining pushups.

"So she could also be motivated in this manner?" Sasuke had just attempted to stir her emotions a little and was impressed with the results.

My arms...' Sakura cried inwardly by the end as she was unable to even get up from the ground.

"Here," Sasuke extended his hand towards her and helped her up.

"That was impressive," He praised genuinely. He had not expected that she would finish them all this quickly.

"Hehe...thanks, Sasuke," Sakura gladly accepted the praise while giggling to herself.

"Shall we go and have some ramen then?" Sasuke suggested.

"Yes, let's go!" Sakura enthusiastically nodded, and the two left to fill their empty stomach.

That night, Old Man Teuchi was glad to receive another young couple and served them enthusiastically.
