Since Wayne had already pointed it out, the twins didn't bother hiding it anymore and took out a piece of parchment.
Fred cleared his throat and tapped the parchment with his wand.
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."
Ink lines spread across the previously blank parchment, quickly forming into a map.
Unlike the one Wayne had created, this map was incredibly expansive — covering not only the entire castle but also the lawns, the Quidditch pitch, and even part of the Forbidden Forest.
Wayne's map only covered the castle's academic areas — much smaller in comparison.
The most impressive part was the dense clusters of names shown on the map — some gathered together, others moving about.
Cedric's eyes widened. "Where did this come from?"
"Wayne, don't tell me you made a more advanced version?"
"I don't have that kind of skill yet," Wayne replied, taking the map and studying it. Within moments, he detected the presence of contract magic, numerous tracking charms, and magic linked to names.
Did Sirius Black and the others really make this back when they were students?
Wayne was deeply skeptical.
This thing was far too sophisticated — how did a few students manage to create it?
"Disillusionment."
Wayne pulled out his wand and cast a concealment charm on himself.
Instantly, his name vanished from the map. Only Fred, George, and Cedric's names remained inside the room.
"You can do that?!" Fred stared in astonishment.
George explained to Cedric, "Fred and I were in detention with Filch. He made us clean a room, and we found it in his drawer."
"It took us forever to figure out how to unlock its secrets."
Fred cut in, "George nearly threw it out — lucky he didn't."
The twins exchanged a proud grin.
Wayne studied the map for a bit longer but didn't find Peter Pettigrew's name. Only then did he return the map to them.
Which made sense.
Never mind that Pettigrew was one of the map's creators — with his timid personality, he probably used every possible charm to hide his presence.
Not seeing him was normal.
Fred carefully put the map away. With only a few months left to use it, they wanted to finish recording every secret passage in Hogwarts.
Since Wayne had already agreed to help, he decided to go all-in.
He first asked Cedric to practice making his own map on the side, then discussed the business of selling enchanted quills with the twins.
Fred and George were social butterflies — friends in every house except Slytherin.
Wayne didn't want to spend too much time on business, and Hermione and Cho weren't particularly interested either.
The twins had shown up at the perfect time.
In the original timeline, Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes became a massive success — clearly, they had business acumen.
Wayne offered them a deal: for every quill they sold, they'd get 10% commission, or 20% if they made the quills themselves.
Fred and George had no objections.
Once they were interested in something, they could focus like no other — even their prank-loving nature couldn't get in the way.
They were completely absorbed in learning how to make magical gadgets and joke items — more attentive than they ever were in class.
If Professor McGonagall saw them now, she might lock them in detention out of sheer frustration.
After explaining the spells, Wayne handed them some ordinary feathers and a batch of magical reagents.
Only feathers soaked in potion could become special materials for crafting magical quills.
By lunchtime, the three still didn't want to leave — but Wayne had to.
"Where are you going?" Cedric asked.
"I promised Hermione I'd teach her the Shield Charm this afternoon."
"Oh~" George made a teasing noise. "So it's Miss Know-It-All, huh?"
Cedric grinned mischievously. "Tsk… Wayne, starting early, aren't you?"
Wayne didn't get upset. He just looked at them with a faint smile.
"Hogwarts only has so many students. Odds are, your future wife is here too."
"If you're willing to wait until seventh year, sure. But by then, she'll probably be someone else's ex."
"With way more experience, though. That's a plus, right?"
With that, Wayne walked out, leaving the three of them staring at each other.
"Damn…" Cedric sucked in a breath.
"That… makes way too much sense…"
This sort of thing happened all the time.
For example, the Quidditch team captain's girlfriend was previously dating the sixth-year prefect. And that prefect's ex? Also used to date a Ravenclaw prefect.
Every new term felt like transfer season — people switching partners left and right.
Cedric shivered.
Nope. Gotta do what Wayne did — start young.
Fred and George felt the same, but their minds were back on magical item crafting. After a quick joke, they resumed practicing spells.
