Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Anomaly from Another World

His steps were unsteady, a dull ache hammering his temples and sinking into his limbs, the kind of pain that follows after a loss, not a spar. Yamato, polished Takeru nearby, worried about her captain as she saw him stumble. "Captain, are you sure you're okay? That summon hit you harder than you let on." But deep down, she felt a pang in her heart that she couldn't understand, a twist of concern mixed with something warmer, unspoken, like the first rumble of a storm she wasn't ready to face.

Bekka's broad sword gleamed in Kael's hand. A dark, ornate relic with a wolf-like hilt, intricate flame-like carvings twisting along the blade, its edge sharp as a predator's fang, a symbol of his mother's unyielding fury.

As Kael finished his training, sweat mingling with the mist despite his sluggish movements, the system appeared.

[Warning: Cross-Verse Summon Initiated]

[Penalty Applied: Physical Output Reduced by 50% for 24 Hours]

[Recovery Suppressed During Active Combat]

A surge of foreign energy made the air taste like burnt ozone and blood. The portal ripped open not with flame, but a slash of dark ether, as if tearing through dimensions. From it stumbled a woman, scarred and bloodied, her clothes torn from battle, a massive blade in her hand. Maki Zen'in, fresh from slaying her clan in a rage of liberation, her eyes wild with adrenaline and grief.

"Who… what is this?" Maki snarled, her stance low and lethal, sword raised. "If this is another Zen'in trick—"

Kael could already feel the backlash from the system due to the cross-verse summoning, his halved strength making his grip on Bekka's sword feel like lead. "I swear this is no trick. My name is Raen D. Kael, and I would like to offer you a—"

Maki lunged. Steel screamed as their blades met, and the impact drove Kael back a full step, boots skidding across the deck. Pain flared up in his arms instantly. Too slow. Too heavy. Yamato and Betty rushed to the deck with weapons ready.

"Captain!" Yamato shouted, Takeru swinging.

Betty raised her flag. "Captain, we're here to back you up!"

Kael let out a low roar, holding them back with a glance. "Stand down," Kael growled, breath already ragged. "This one's on me."

The clash continued, Maki's precision carving inches from his vitals while Kael answered with brute force that landed slower than it should have. Sparks flew, the broad sword's flame-like carvings seeming to ignite with each strike. Maki's movements were a blur of lethal grace, her cursed tool blade humming with suppressed energy, while Kael's draconic instincts kept him in the game despite the debuff. Finally, Maki slid back, blade still raised. Kael was breathing heavier than she was. Her eyes sharpened, measuring him anew. "You're strong… for a horned freak. What's the catch?"

Kael lowered his sword, fatigue hitting like a wave. "There's no catch. This is a new world, a new fight. Join us, family, freedom, no chains."

Maki hesitated before finally sheathing her blade. "Fine. But if it's another cage, I'll cut my way out."

[Cross-Verse Anomaly Confirmed: Maki Zen'in]

[Status: Temporary Manifestation – Does Not Occupy Core Summon Slot]

[Restriction Applied: Anomaly Is Tied To Host Current Strength During Summoning]

[Penalty Active: Physical Output –50% for 24 Hours]

Yamato helped Kael inside the survey room, her arm steady under his. "You pushed yourself too hard, Captain. That summon took more out of you than you let on." Her worry deepened, that unexplained pang in her heart sharpening. She didn't know if it was concern for her leader, or something more?

Betty pulled out the map after everyone entered the room, spreading it across the table.

Betty pointed at the map. "Captain, I already planned our course to the Ancient Kingdom. On our way to the island, we'll pass by the Baratie."

Kael nodded, and Yamato slung Takeru over her shoulder.

Maki looked on in confusion. "What's the name of this little circus you're running? What is this Ancient Kingdom you all are talking about?"

Kael opened his mouth to answer, but at that moment, a sharp, metallic chime echoed in his mind.

[Alert: Hostile Encounter Detected]

[Crew Identified: East Blue Pirate Crew – "Sir Carnus the Collector"]

[Bounty: 32,000,000 Beli]

[Threat Level: Moderate | Targets: Female Combatants]

Kael stumbled back up to the deck. Yamato, Betty, and Maki followed Kael to the deck as a grotesque warship emerged from the fog, built like a floating iron maw. Chains rattled from its sides like teeth. On its splintered deck stood a towering man with slicked-back hair, oil-slick skin, and a cracked monocle. His coat fluttered in the wind, revealing belts of tools, shackles, and weapons.

Sir Carnus grinned like a butcher eyeing meat. "Well, well," he purred. "An exotic Oni and two rare human beauties. Listen, kid, Kaido wants his daughter back. Crew, kill their captain, and the other two women are yours."

Maki's eyes narrowed. "You can try."

Kael stepped forward, stormlight dancing across his shoulders.

He said coldly, "You can either fight, or you can kneel."

Carnus sneered. "I don't kneel, brat."

[Hebi Hebi no Mi – Kuraokami Hybrid Form: Engaged]

Kael's form shifted. purple-black scales raced over his skin, mist hissing from his pores. Storm wings unfurled behind him.

"Thunder Pulse."

A shriek of compressed lightning burst from his palm, obliterating the enemy mast in a blaze of searing light.

Carnus staggered back, raising his arms to block.

"Kachi Kachi no Mi – Chain Bind."

With a snap of his fingers, chains erupted from the deck, thick and rusted, wrapping around Yamato in an instant. The chains tightened, leeching strength with every coil. Kael felt it instantly, the drain stacking viciously with the system's debuff.

"You'll make a fine prize," Carnus sneered. "My chains don't just restrain, they bind the soul."

Yamato roared, slamming her kanabō down, but the chains shifted, avoiding her strikes and squeezing tighter around Betty.

Kael's voice dropped, cold as ice. "That's not going to stop us."

He lunged forward, and the silver mist swirled around him.

"Thunder Pulse!"

Lightning tore from his palm, but the recoil snapped through his shoulder, forcing a grunt from his throat as the enemy mast detonated in a blaze of light.

Carnus grimaced. "You're no ordinary pirate, but you still can't escape my chains!"

With a roar, more chains erupted from the ground, lashing out to entangle Kael's limbs. They pulled him down to the deck, the weight of them trying to sap his strength.

Lightning ripped through the chains, but Kael dropped to one knee as they shattered, his vision flashing white from the strain.

Yamato grinned, undeterred.

"Raimei Hakke!"

Kael stayed down for half a breath longer than he wanted to.

She hurled herself into the air, swinging her kanabō with tremendous force. The ship's bow splintered under the attack, sending Carnus's men flying into the sea.

Maki's blade flashed in the light as she swept it down for a devastating final blow.

She unleashed a crashing strike. Her blade cleaved the remaining chains like they were paper. The ship's hull was cleaved in half during the onslaught, and the remaining pirates were sent spiraling into the waves.

Within moments, the Trophy Maw, Carnus's grotesque warship, was reduced to wreckage, floating like driftwood.

Kael landed lightly on the wreckage, lifting a soaked and wheezing Carnus by his collar.

Kael growled, "You thought I'll let anyone on my crew be taken?"

Carnus coughed blood, gasping. "Kid, you're just a name waiting to die. Your family will suffer for your hubris."

Kael's eyes glinted, cold as the sea.

"They never beat my adoptive grandfather," he said, his tone unyielding. "Even in their prime."

Then, with a final flick of his wrist, he drove his dragon claws into Carnus's chest.

"Let the storm swallow you."

Kael chose to store it, saving it for the right warrior.

They looted the ship of weapons, maps, and Carnus's custom bounty ledgers. As the Crimson Raiju set sail again, Yamato wiped blood from her cheek.

Kael chuckled. "Guess we're enemies of your father now?" His gaze fell on Yamato.

Yamato had a wide grin. "Guess so, captain, there is no turning back now. I hope you're not scared."

Kael gave a faint laugh, "When I meet your father, we'll just have a dragon fight."

His gaze then turned toward the figurehead.

"I'll name our crew... The Thundering Dawn."

[Achievement Unlocked: Name Your Crew]

[Reward Gained: One Rare treasure chest | Title Bestowed: Strom Sovereign]

Maki grinned, twirling her blade. "Captain, what is that weird fruit in your hand?"

Kael tossed Carnus's fruit in his hand. "Oh, this is a Devil Fruit. There are three types of Devil Fruits: Logia, Zoan, and Paramecia."

Yamato took over the conversation."Logia are considered the rarest and most powerful for combat. These fruits turn the user's body into a natural element, making them nearly immune to physical damage. Then there are Paramecia, which grant a massive variety of abilities that often affect the body, producing substances, or altering the environment. Lastly, there are Zoan devil fruits. Their users can transform into animals, with three forms: human, beast, and hybrid."

Yamato pointed to Kael and herself. "The captain and I have Mythical Zoans."

Kael and Yamato showed off their Hybrid forms, leaving Maki stunned.

Yamato's stomach growled.

Betty arched her brow."Well, Thundering Dawn, how about we stop at the Baratie for dinner?"

Kael nodded. "Luffy got his damn cook from that place, and knowing him… he didn't pay the tab."

Baratie – Floating Restaurant

The scent of spice, garlic, and salt hit them as they docked. Inside, laughter echoed,d and chefs shouted orders.

Zeff turned, his eyes widening as he spotted Kael.

"Well, I'll be damned. Another D. with a storm in his wake."

Kael smirked. "I need food and wine for my crew. I'll leave enough to cover my brother's bill."

Zeff barked a gale-force laugh. "Damn right you will. That kid never paid a single beri."

He eyed Yamato, Betty, and Maki.

"All of Garp's grandkids are just as bad as him."

Kael only smiled.

That Evening – Aboard the Crimson Raiju

Rain pattered gently on the deck, mist curling in the lamplight. In the captain's quarters, Yamato sat across from Kael, hair damp and loose, a towel around her shoulders.

"You didn't have to do that for me," she muttered.

Kael didn't look up. "I didn't."

She frowned.

"I did it for us," he said. "You believed in me before I had a ship. That matters."

Yamato flushed slightly. "You just said that 'cause I'm strong."

"No," Kael said, voice like distant thunder. "Because you're purpose."

His eyes met hers.

"I'm not here for thrones. I'm here to build something unbreakable. A family, no navy, no emperor, no god can tear apart."

Her throat tightened.

"Kael, you know you're different from other pirates."

"Good," he said quietly. "I plan to be."

The door opened.

"Ugh," Betty groaned, biting into a pear. "Am I interrupting the flames of young love?"

Yamato leapt up. "We were just talking?!"

The Next Morning – Open Sea

Kael scanned the new bounties just dropped from the news gull. Yamato leaned in beside him.

"Are you proud of him?"

Kael's eyes lingered on the mist beyond.

"I'm proud of the man he's becoming."

Kael let out a low whistle. "Looks like the world's finally spinning in our direction."

Maki appeared beside him. "Then let's burn our name into it."

"Next stop: Loguetown. After that, the Ancient Kingdom."

The Crimson Raiju surged through the mist like a blade through silk.

Kael's voice rang across the sea like a war song.

"Let's carve our legend."
