The southern sea area.
A solitary island, isolated from the world by the vast ocean.
Beneath this seemingly ordinary island lies a hidden, inhumane underground laboratory.
In the laboratory filled with chemicals and high-tech equipment, on a narrow single bed, the girl is gone, leaving only four bloodstained handcuffs hanging from the corners of the bed, an eerie and unsettling sight.
"The Blood Shadow is gone!"
In the surveillance footage, the disappearance of the girl on the bed sent the operators in front of the screen into a panic.
At this, everyone in the control room turned pale, as if facing a major threat, their eyes fixed on the screen.
They quickly searched through the countless small squares of surveillance footage for the girl's whereabouts, but found no trace.
The guards lying unconscious in the corridor sent them into a frenzy.
"Activate the security system to search for Blood Shadow immediately. We cannot let anyone escape, or none of us will survive."
The system activated, and a massive blue projection appeared in mid-air, displaying a dense array of data that flickered like an intricate net.
"Quickly release NT35 smoke. Regardless of the cost, use any means necessary to capture the target."
As soon as the order was given, spray devices appeared on the walls as solid as iron, releasing toxic gas.
Countless black-clad figures armed with real guns and wearing gas masks cautiously moved through the laboratory filled with toxic gas.
In the smoke, the sound of necks being snapped echoed, sending chills down the spine, with screams too late to be heard.
Under the invisible smoke, bodies piled up.
"Immediately notify Dr. Sang and the others to enter the safety zone."
"Zzzz." The equipment suddenly emitted several electrical sounds.
The next moment, all the equipment was destroyed, the control panel was burned by electricity, sparking a shower of sparks, and the machinery emitted a foul, burnt smell, causing everyone to retreat in fear, staying far away from the control panel.
The surveillance footage was completely destroyed, and the entire laboratory lost its basic monitoring and control functions. The alarm sounded.
Everyone was horrified.
The communication device transmitted an emergency report: "All the doctors and researchers have been killed, and Dr. Sang is missing."
"Dr. Sang must have been killed by the Blood Shadow."
"Let's evacuate. No one here can match the Blood Shadow. Most of the genes have been successfully extracted. Take the data and escape."
"Decide quickly before the Blood Shadow finds us."
The control room descended into chaos. The leader finally spoke: "Take all the data and evacuate immediately. Prepare to detonate. Headquarters has ordered that once the genes are successfully extracted, the Blood Shadow must not be left behind."
At that moment, a deafening explosion shattered the metal door of the control room.
The entire laboratory shook, and the explosion temporarily deafened everyone. Flames and metal debris flew everywhere, forcing those in the control room to cover their heads and take cover.
The main door was reduced to rubble.
Amidst the ruins, a gaunt figure emerged, covered in blood.
With an air of destruction.
As the smoke cleared, everyone saw the figure clearly, as if they had seen a demon, or death itself.
"Blood, Blood Shadow."
The young girl slowly raised her face, her bloodthirsty eyes fixed on the group of people in the control room who were too terrified to move.
Her long hair flowed freely, her gaze as cold as a knife, and her face, covered in bloodstains, now resembled a demon demanding a soul.
The young girl was the Blood Shadow they spoke of with dread.
A legendary assassin who dominated the assassin world, one whom all assassins feared and avoided, and whose name struck terror into the hearts of high-ranking officials.
The girl raised her arm lightly and tossed the object she was holding as if it were trash.
When the crowd saw what was rolling on the ground, their legs went weak with fear—it was Dr. Sang's severed head.
It had been severed cleanly, and wherever the head rolled, blood followed. The two wide, terrified eyes on the head had not yet closed, staring fixedly at them. This scene left everyone with an overwhelming sense of suffocation.
The leader snapped out of it, trembling as he pulled out a black detonator, threatening, "…Blood Shadow, your brain has been implanted with a chip. If I detonate this, you will be obliterated within thirty seconds. You'd better not make a move."
The girl's icy voice echoed slowly, "Thirty seconds? That's more than enough to kill all of you."
"We're just following orders. It was the Shadow who told us to do this. Don't blame us." Seeing that Blood Shadow showed no fear, everyone immediately begged for mercy, "Please let us go."
Shadow?
The girl laughed coldly, her bloodthirsty eyes filled with hatred, yet also a hint of mockery.
Shadow, the largest and most powerful assassin organisation in the world, uses brutal training methods to cultivate one ruthless assassin after another.
And she, Blood Shadow, was one of them.
Unlike others, she was the only one taken into the organisation while still in swaddling clothes, becoming the youngest yet most talented trainee in the entire assassin organisation.
After thirteen years of brutal training, she began taking on one extreme mission after another at the age of fourteen.
At seventeen, she secured the top spot on the world assassin rankings under the codename "Blood Shadow," a position no one could challenge.
In her six-year career as an assassin, she set one unbreakable record after another, amassing countless formidable identities, and became a legendary myth in the Shadow Organisation and the assassin world, with an unblemished record.
Even the retired elders within the organisation were no match for her, and her talent aroused jealousy and hatred.
Her own strength caused the organisation to develop a sense of apprehension towards her, bringing about her own downfall.
The organisation sought to extract her genes to clone another—or even countless—Blood Shadows to replace her and serve the organisation.
She did not come here unwillingly; she came of her own accord.
Out of gratitude for the organisation's years of nurturing, she was willing to provide part of her genes to strengthen the organisation.
Yet they sought to extract all her genes, completely cloning an identical version of her, then betray her and eliminate her to eliminate future threats.
Blood Shadow couldn't help but shake her head silently.
Though she was powerful enough to have her own faction and lacked neither wealth nor power, she had never wavered in her loyalty to the organisation.
She never imagined that her terrifying growth rate would make the organisation consider using her and then killing her.
Thinking of this, Blood Shadow mocked herself.
From a young age, the organisation had warned her not to develop emotions, yet in the end, her compassion had been directed towards her own people, and she had fallen into their hands.
She couldn't help but sigh: those who had taken cold-blooded ruthlessness to the extreme were still the people within the organisation.
As Blood Shadow was distracted for a moment, the leader saw his chance, quietly pressed the detonator in his hand, and then stepped back.
The girl noticed his movement and gave him a glance that sent him into a panic.
The girl did not move, but under the shocked gazes of the crowd, she also pulled out a detonator.
"Do you recognise this detonator? Dr. Sang told me that you buried a hundred pounds of TNT in the laboratory."
"Let's go to hell together."
The girl's voice was cold and menacing.
Under the terrified gazes of the crowd, she pressed the detonator.
The leader regretted not having detonated it immediately to kill her, instead clinging to the delusion that he could capture her and continue extracting all her genes.
A deafening explosion erupted, flames shooting into the sky. The island, brimming with sin, sank into the depths of the sea, along with the girl, who had known countless honours in her short life.
