Chapter 88 - Chapter 88: This Tastes Terrible...

The Chapter get Retranslated

Archangel

Murrue Ramius stood up in shock upon hearing Ride Onmuru's report.

"Did Mikazuki and the others not make it to the rendezvous point?"

Ride nodded, his expression grim. "That's right. The appointed time has passed, and they haven't returned. Is Seebook Arno back yet?"

"No, not yet," Murrue said, her voice heavy.

"There was an attack by Blue Cosmos over on Southern Street," Ride said solemnly. "Could they have been..."

Murrue began to worry. Mikazuki...

Then she remembered. Mikazuki's prowess was such that he had single-handedly taken down over two hundred Earth Alliance soldiers from Artemis Fortress on the Archangel. How could a few untrained amateurs possibly be his match?

Thinking of this, half of Murrue's anxiety vanished.

"It's fine. Nothing will happen with Mikazuki by their side. There was probably just an emergency. Just keep a close eye on things over there. When Seebook returns, I'll have him send more men to join you."

"Understood."

The communication cut off. Murrue slumped back into her captain's seat. Despite her words, the other half of her worry lingered.

"Mikazuki, please don't let anything happen..."

*Back with Mikazuki*

Kira Yamato's face darkened upon hearing Andrew Waltfeld's words.

Andrew smiled and turned toward the adjacent living room. "Come in. I've always done a bit of research on coffee. Why don't you have a taste?"

Without a second thought, Mikazuki entered the room as soon as Andrew finished speaking. Kira opened his mouth to say something, but ultimately remained silent and followed them in.

The living room was spacious, featuring leather sofas, a coffee table, and various tasteful decorations. To Kira, the place felt very refined.

Mikazuki, however, felt nothing. He had zero interest in such things. Andrew brewed three cups of coffee at a nearby table, placed them on a tray, and brought them over to the sofa.

"Don't be shy, take a seat."

Mikazuki sat down without ceremony, staring suspiciously at the weirdly colored liquid Andrew pushed toward him. "What is this?"

Andrew raised an eyebrow. "You... you don't know what coffee is?"

"Coffee? What's that? Never had it."

Mikazuki truly hadn't. Since he was a child, he had only ever drunk plain water. Once Tekkadan became wealthy, Atra Mixta often brewed hot milk tea for him, but he had never even heard of coffee.

"Are you serious? You've never had coffee...?"

Andrew was caught completely off guard by the answer. He had met all sorts of people, but he had never seen someone like Mikazuki. He had no idea what was going on in the boy's head.

Treating it like ordinary hot water, Mikazuki took a large, fearless gulp. The moment he tasted what "coffee" was, he immediately spat it out.

"Whoa!" Andrew shouted, momentarily losing his composure. Beside them, Kira jumped in surprise, scalding his mouth in the process.

"You brat! What was that for?"

Mikazuki wiped his mouth with his sleeve, answering with a dull, expressionless look. "It's bitter. Tastes terrible."

"Terrible? You... what does a kid like you know? This is the taste of adulthood..."

Andrew went outside to grab a mop and personally cleaned up the coffee stains on the floor, grumbling all the while. "What an unpleasant little brat. And here I was, so confident in my brewing skills."

Mikazuki acted as if he hadn't heard a word, contentedly eating a date on his own.

Kira sat nearby with a wry smile, nursing his burnt lip. This was classic Mikazuki. Kira stood up and noticed a stone slab in the center of the room. "Is this... the Whale Stone?"

Setting the mop aside, Andrew saw that Kira had noticed his most unique possession. He smiled slightly and walked over to Kira, coffee in hand.

Mikazuki glanced at it once and then lost interest.

"Evidence 01. What? Is this your first time seeing the real thing? Well, I say 'real,' but mine is just a replica. Hahaha!"

"Is this the fossil George Glenn, the world's first Coordinator, brought back from Jupiter?"

Kira suddenly remembered the story of the first Coordinator. It was said he found proof of alien life on Jupiter a fossil.

Andrew took a sip of his coffee. "Exactly. But why do you call it a Whale Stone? Does it look like a whale to you?"

"No... I'm not really sure."

Andrew hummed thoughtfully and smiled. "Well, no matter how I look at it, it looks like a pair of wings. Do normal whales have wings? Still, I don't think anyone can say for sure what this thing actually is. Hey, you, the rude little shorty over there. What do you think this is?"

Without even turning his head, Mikazuki replied, "Whatever. It has nothing to do with me."

"What a cold personality. Actually, this fossil holds deep meaning not just for Coordinators, but for Naturals as well. You probably don't know this, but its discovery once upended the entire religious world.

Coordinators were originally seen as 'unnatural' or 'unclean.' But then a new argument arose: 'The power of Coordinators is needed to pioneer space' and 'Humanity can reach higher and go further.'

And so, genetic adjustment, which had been banned by law, rose to prominence once again. This stone was seen as the reason and meaning for the Coordinator's existence."

Andrew spoke with a touch of sentimentality.

Mikazuki finally spoke up. "It's meaningless. If you have the free time to mess around with all that, you might as well live your own life with your feet firmly on the ground."

The other two in the room froze for a moment. Then, Andrew suddenly burst into loud laughter.
