Chapter 1 - Prologue

The Charming Prodigy

In the heart of the majestic Jade Cloud Sect, nestled atop rolling emerald mountains and wreathed in perpetual mist, lived a young man who was as much a legend as he was a menace as he looked.

Han Yu, the sect's youngest prodigy, was renowned for two things: his unparalleled talent in cultivation and his knack for stirring up mischief wherever he went.

The day began like any other.

The sun cast golden rays over the sect, birds chirped melodiously, and disciples hurried for their morning routines.

But for Han Yu, it was another opportunity to create problems.

Han Yu, wearing the sect's white robe with jade embroidery, stood on a pavilion roof, looking down at the busy courtyard. The robe looked more stylish on him than on anyone else.

His long black hair flowed like silk in the breeze, and his piercing eyes gleamed with a mischievous light.

"Han Yu! Get down from there this instant!" screamed an elderly disciple below, shaking his fist.

Han Yu smirked and called back, "Senior Brother Luo, aren't you too old to be worrying about my safety? Careful, you might pull a muscle!"

Snickers erupted from a group of junior disciples nearby.

Senior Brother Luo turned to an angry red face, his mouth opening and closing like a fish gasping for air.

Han Yu's charm was as infuriating as it was undeniable.

Not far away, Lin Mei—one of the sect's most talented female disciples—was practicing her sword techniques in the courtyard.

She moved with grace, her blade shimmering in the sunlight, but her focus wavered as Han Yu's antics caught her attention.

"Han Yu," she called, her tone a mix of flirt, "don't you have better things to do than torment Senior Brother Luo?"

Han Yu jumped quickly from the roof, landing with effortless elegance.

"Better things?" he said.

"What could be better than brightening everyone's day with my presence?"

Lin Mei rolled her eyes.

"Your definition of 'brightening' is questionable. Last week you replaced Elder Wang's medicinal pills with candy."

Han Yu faked innocence. "Elder Wang's face lit up like a festival lantern! I was merely spreading the help."

As the morning progressed, Han Yu's mischief reached new heights.

He charmed his way into the kitchens, where he convinced the cooks to add extra spices to the sect leader's favorite dish.

"Sect Leader deserves a meal as fiery as his cultivation level," Han Yu declared.

The head cook shook her head but couldn't suppress a smile.

"One day, Han Yu, your antics will land you in trouble."

"Trouble?" Han Yu replied, winking.

"Trouble and I are old friends."

By midday, the courtyard was excited with rumors of Han Yu's latest adventurous act.

People found out that Han Yu secretly tied colorful ribbons to the tails of the sect's spirit cranes.

Now, as the cranes flew in the sky, it looked like they were part of a wedding celebration.

Even the normally serious Elder Zhang couldn't help but laugh when he saw the colorful trails left by the cranes.

He called out to Han Yu, but his voice wasn't as stern as usual.

"You better untie those ribbons before the sect leader sees them!"

"Right away, Elder Zhang!" Han Yu replied cheerfully, though he made no move to do so.

The turning point of the day came when Han Yu decided to pull a harmless prank on his lifelong rival, Zhou Feng.

Zhou Feng, a stoic and overly serious disciple, was practicing meditation by the lotus pond.

Han Yu tiptoed behind him, holding a small wooden frog that croaked when squeezed.

With a devilish grin, he positioned it near Zhou Feng's ear and—

"Ribbit!"

Zhou Feng's eyes snapped open, and he leapt to his feet, flailing wildly.

"What in the—Han Yu!"

Han Yu doubled over with laughter.

"Relax, Zhou Feng! You looked like you were fighting an invisible demon!"

Zhou Feng's face darkened. "One day, you will face serious consequences."

"Come now, Zhou Feng," Han Yu said, clapping him on the back.

"A little joy never hurts anyone. Besides, I'm practically doing you a favor.

All that seriousness is bad for your complexion."

Unbeknownst to Han Yu, his "harmless" prank had triggered a chain reaction.

Zhou Feng, in his startled state, had accidentally unleashed a burst of spiritual energy that disrupted the sect's protective formation.

The disruption caused a minor quake, shaking the entire mountain.

"Han Yu! What have you done this time?" bellowed Sect Leader Bai shouted loudly into the courtyard, he was no longer calm as usual.

Han Yu scratched the back of his head, offering a guilty smile.

"Sect Leader, I assure you, it's all a big misunderstanding."

"Misunderstanding?" Sect Leader Bai's eye twitched.

"The entire mountain just trembled!"

By evening, the entire sect had gathered in the grand hall.

Han Yu stood before the elders, looking uncharacteristically humble—or at least trying to.

Elder Zhang sighed.

"Han Yu, your talent is unmatched, but your mischief knows no bounds. What do you have to say for yourself?"

Han Yu flashed a evillious smile.

"Elders, isn't it true that laughter is the best medicine? If anything, I've been promoting the sect's well-being."

The room fell silent, and then—unexpectedly—Sect Leader Bai let out a chuckle.

"You really never change, Han Yu."

The tension broke, and laughter filled the hall.

Even the sternest elders couldn't stay mad for long.

After all, Han Yu's charm was as much his weapon as his cultivation skill.

As the night wore on, Han Yu strolled back to his quarters under the moonlit sky.

Lin Mei caught up with him, her arms crossed.

"You got off easy this time."

Han Yu grinned.

"Did you expect anything less?"

She moved her head side to side (as if saying "no"), but she was also trying not to smile.

"One day, Han Yu, your antics might actually cause some real trouble."

He stopped, turning to look at her with an uncharacteristically serious expression.

"Lin Mei, life is too short to take everything seriously. If I can make the surroundings lively, even for a moment, isn't that worth it?"

Lin Mei stared at him, caught off guard by his words.

But before she could respond, Han Yu's playful grin returned.

"Besides, I'm too handsome to stay mad at, right?"

She groaned, pushing him away.

"You're impossible!"

As Han Yu disappeared into the night, his laughter echoing through the air, Lin Mei couldn't help but smile.

The charming prodigy was a handful, but life in the Jade Cloud Sect was never dull with him around.

And so, the legend of Han Yu—the prodigy who lived for mischief, laughter, and the occasional unintended chaos—continued.

A few years back.

Han Yu was not born into the Jade Cloud Sect, nor was he raised among its disciplined ranks.

His story began in the village of Cloudspring, a place filled with merchants, farmers, and rogue cultivators seeking fortune.

The village was known for its vibrant markets and lawless alleys, where survival depend not only on strength but also on wit and charm.

Han Yu was the son of Han Jian, a renowned merchant who controlled a vast trading network, and Lady Yu Qing, a former disciple of the Celestial Moon Pavilion.

While his father dreamed of grooming him into a smart businessman, his mother had other plans.

She saw the wild spark in her son's eyes and recognized that the life of a merchant would never satisfy him.

From a young age, Han Yu displayed a mysterious ability to talk his way out of trouble.

Whether it was convincing street vendors to give him sweets for free or charming his way past guards to explore forbidden places, he quickly gained a reputation as the 'Little Fox' of Cloudspring.

However, mischief alone was not what set Han Yu apart.

He possessed an innate talent for martial arts and cultivation.

When he was five years old, he showed that he could control spiritual energy for the first time.

It happened by accident—he got angry for what he couldn't get and his energy became so strong that it broke a table without him meaning to.

His mother, sensing his potential, secretly began teaching him the foundation of cultivation—Qi Refinement.

Unlike other children who struggled to grasp the complexities of meridian flow and energy control, Han Yu absorbed knowledge like a sponge.

However, rather than practicing diligently, he found ways to make training more entertaining.

Instead of traditional sparring, he turned combat drills into games, often frustrating his mother with his unorthodox methods.

However, a fortune teller says his skills will grow rapidly but stronger he grows more chaotics his life will face.

At the age of seven, Han Yu had his first real encounter with danger.

While exploring the backstreets of Cloudspring, he stumbled upon a group of bandits attempting to rob a wandering cultivator.

Instead of running away, he chose to fight back by throwing rotten fruit at the bandits and dodging their attacks with his fast movements.

In the end, a cultivator rescued him, but the experience changed him—he discovered that he enjoyed the excitement of surprises and the thrill of outsmarting enemies.

Realizing that Cloudspring could no longer nurture Han Yu's growing abilities, his mother decided to send him to the Jade Cloud Sect.

Using her connections, she arranged for him to take the entrance test.

Even though Han Yu was not as disciplined as the others, his charm, quick thinking in battle, and excellent control of spiritual energy impressed the elders.

He passed the test with flying colors, and despite some reluctance, the sect admitted him.

The Jade Cloud Sect was very different from life in the busy and energetic streets of Cloudspring.

The Jade Cloud Sect was strict, disciplined, and serious.

The streets of Cloudspring were lively, full of noise, excitement, and freedom.

So, Han Yu had to adjust from a fun, free-spirited life to a more controlled and serious environment.

Han Yu's carefree personality did not fit well with the strict rules and tight schedules, though he managed to have fun.

While others meditated for hours, he found ways to nap without being caught.

During lectures, he cleverly avoided scoldings by reciting entire texts flawlessly, despite never appearing to study.

His talent was undeniable, but so was his unwillingness to conform completely.

Despite his antics, Han Yu quickly rose through the ranks.

His understanding of martial arts was unconventional but effective.

While others used fixed moves, Han Yu changed his techniques during battle to take advantage of weaknesses.

This unpredictability made him a formidable opponent, much to the frustration of his rivals, especially Zhou Feng, who embodied everything Han Yu was not—diligent, serious, and unwaveringly by-the-book.

Over the years, Han Yu became one of the sect's most promising disciples.

His charm and talent won him admirers and enemies alike.

The elders oscillated between reprimanding him and marveling at his brilliance.

His life in the sect was filled with both chaos and admiration, but deep down, Han Yu knew that his journey was just beginning.

Unbeknownst to him, his past was not something he could leave behind so easily.

There were secrets hidden in his bloodline, whispers of an ancient lineage that would soon come to light.

The carefree days of mischief and laughter would not last forever, for fate had grander plans in store for Han Yu—ones that would test not only his strength but also the very essence of who he was.
