If Ye Liang escaped today, Butsuma Jiro would bear the brunt of the Shinigami's wrath!
He'd be dead!
"Relax, this kind of crap won't stop me!" Ye Liang pretended to stay calm while his mind raced for countermeasures.
First and foremost, escape was definitely possible.
As a master escape artist, Ye Liang could easily flee from this mindless Shinigami just by using the Flying Thunder God Technique and the Shifting Body Technique.
With that certainty in mind, he relaxed somewhat.
Next came strategizing how to defeat the Shinigami!
He turned his gaze to the massive Shinigami again; black flames—Amaterasu—erupted from his eyes! As soon as these touched the Shinigami, they clung to him like persistent leeches, burning him relentlessly.
Sometimes, the simplest way to resolve a problem was just to burn it away!
The flames successfully hindered the Shinigami's movements. However, after burning briefly, they mysteriously disappeared.
"The air ran out?" Ye Liang noticed this issue.
His Sharingan clearly sensed that Amaterasu wasn't burning the Shinigami himself, but rather the surrounding air. Once the oxygen depleted, the flames naturally extinguished.
"Strange indeed. If it's burning the air, why would it restrict this guy's movement?" He hurled several shuriken forward. As expected, they pierced through the Shinigami's body but did nothing.
"So what? Out of options? Scared now?" From the rooftop, Butsuma Jiro mocked again. Seeing that the Shinigami hadn't finished off Ye Liang yet, he had completely panicked!
If Ye Liang stopped fighting and fled, he'd be finished!
"No good. I must end this quickly!"
The Shinigami sprang into action again. This time, instead of aimlessly swinging its dagger, it moved with calculated agility, gliding through the air like a phantom.
[Kasumi Ninjutsu - Specter Parade!] Butsuma Jiro unleashed his ninjutsu.
This time, the Shinigami clearly fell under control. After drifting into the sky, it didn't charge head-on. Instead, it floated above Ye Liang and struck downward!
From this position, Ye Liang couldn't possibly retreat behind. Besides dealing with the immense pressure descending from above, he also needed to watch out for potential attacks from Butsuma Jiro nearby. It put him in an extremely awkward situation.
"That's right! Butsuma Jiro!" Suddenly, Ye Liang realized his thinking had been mistaken.
He didn't necessarily need to beat the Shinigami to get out of this mess; taking out Butsuma Jiro was the best option. As for the truth behind Yomibitaka, he could simply ask Shaw Naizi about it later.
After all, she was still the princess of an entire nation.
Realizing this, Ye Liang quickly hurled several shuriken in the distance. The Shinigami was fast; ordinary techniques wouldn't allow him to escape. Only by employing Space-Time Ninjutsu could he stand a chance against such an opponent.
Jiro was still forming hand seals. In the next second, Ye Liang vanished before his very eyes!
Where?
He was stunned. When he looked again, Ye Liang had already appeared on the Shinigami's back!
"Not good! He intends to strike me!"
The Shinigami swung wide but quickly retaliated with a snap-back maneuver!
Without looking back, he swung his dagger straight at Ye Liang. Caught off guard, Ye Liang barely dodged—still, the blade caught him right on the thigh!
Shinigami stands ten meters tall!
His dagger must be larger than a human arm. This time, Ye Liang's leg was completely severed.
"Damn it!" Ignoring his injury, he slammed one hand onto the ground and propelled himself forward, hurling a shuriken mid-air.
[Flying Thunder God!]
"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!"
Ye Liang darted endlessly through the air. Since the shurikens scattered outward, Shinigami couldn't land a single hit under these circumstances!
Just as the final shuriken was about to hit the ground, Ye Liang finally flashed behind Butsuma Jiro.
"You're finished!"
A chilling voice cut through the air.
Butsuma Jiro gasped as the kunai pierced through his heart. His eyes widened with shock before he slowly sank to his knees.
"How could you dodge Shinigami's attack? Impossible!"
"There's nothing impossible," Ye Liang suddenly boasted. "As long as I'm strong enough, even real gods won't be safe from me."
What he said wasn't entirely wrong—if your power is sufficient, even gods aren't that significant.
Butsuma Jiro smiled faintly. "Then you'll meet them soon enough."
His gaze turned eerie, then his eyelids slowly closed.
Meet?
Meet what exactly?
Ye Liang felt confused. He even glanced specifically at the Shinigami, but the latter had already faded into thin air.
"Is that old man trying to trick me?"
He entered the guest room.
After managing to reattach his leg, Ye Liang finally remembered Shaw Naizi still lying inside the guest room.
He let out a bitter smile.
Originally, he just wanted to ask her something, yet unexpectedly ended up saving her instead.
Who knew whether it was fate binding them together?
Or was it ill-fated karma? Or merely cursed fate again?
Shaw Naizi lay peacefully.
She simply rested there—if not for her steady breathing, Ye Liang would have suspected she was already dead!
"With all that commotion, she's still asleep? Is she made of stone?" He gently tugged her neck, then scooped her up princess-style.
A battle had broken out here.
The first-ranking minister of Kasumi Country had died within his own home. Such an event would surely attract widespread attention. This place was no longer suitable for lingering.
Right then!
Suddenly, Shaw Naizi's eyes flew open—an intense red light shot straight into the heavens! The surrounding space began collapsing, cracks forming one by one in the sky above.
"What the hell is going on?"
Ye Liang stiffened.
Staring into Shaw Naizi's glowing crimson eyes, cold sweat dripped from his forehead.
Anyone witnessing such a scene would instantly sense danger.
Panic struck. He dropped Naizi instantly.
Yet at that moment, his foot suddenly plunged into emptiness, like stepping on a nonexistent stair. The ground beneath Ye Liang vanished—a bottomless pit burst open, spewing streams of fresh blood.
"F***! What the hell is happening!"
With a loud shout, Ye Liang fell downward along with Naizi!
After a long while,
The abyss disappeared, and Butsuma Jiro's mansion returned to its original appearance.
All around were crimson rocks staining the ground red.
Ye Liang awoke once more, unaware of how much time had passed. The sky held no sun, no moon, nor any stars.
Before him stretched an endless expanse of land.
"Where exactly am I?" He took a slow look around the reddish terrain. Although there was no visible source of light, a dim glow permeated the area.
He walked on for a while before spotting some small villages ahead. As he got closer, though, something felt off!
Everyone here seemed to have lost all vitality—not only were they expressionless, but their movements were also stiff and mechanical. What struck Ye Liang as the strangest was that not a single villager spoke!
The entire village was eerily silent, as if everyone had been struck dumb.
"Excuse me, may I ask where I am?" Ye Liang approached one of them.
