Chapter 151 - Chapter 151: The Fallen

"I'm the leader of the Pure here."

As if reading Ye Liang's thoughts, the middle-aged man continued, "You saw the Fallen just now. This world is divided into two kinds—The Fallen and The Pure."

"The Fallen will attack any living being they see. We The Pure are different—we have intelligence, we can think. Except for not having life, we're no different from humans."

"Pure?"

"Yes, exactly! There are actually two kinds of beings in this world—one called the Fallen, the other the Pure. Of course, there's one thing you must understand clearly—we aren't human! Or rather, we aren't alive!"

The man suddenly turned serious.

Ye Liang was taken aback!

He glanced at the passersby around them. These people were going about their daily routines busily. Other than their appearance, they indeed differed from the Fallen—they didn't have the desire to attack others.

"Then what do you mean by saying you aren't humans?" he asked.

"Because we aren't alive, of course!"

The middle-aged man suddenly sighed.

"As you may have realized, Yomibitaka is the land of the dead. We Pures here are actually formed from people who've died from your world above."

"Ghosts?"

"Yes! Exactly! We exist in the Land of Yomi, constantly experiencing its cruelty. After enduring a hundred years here, we'll be reborn as humans—that's the law of our world!"

"Reborn as humans?" Ye Liang muttered under his breath, then asked again, "Then how about those Fallen? They should be ghosts like you, right?"

"That's correct!" the middle-aged man replied. "The Fallen are ghosts, just like us."

"They were once like us—The Pure—but were corrupted by the Queen of Yomi!"

"The Queen of Yomi?"

"Yeah! She's the ruler of Yomibitaka, known as Izanami. In your world, when someone commits grave sins, they receive severe punishment. The Queen of Yomi strips them of their consciousness, turning them into mindless monsters that only bite and tear. That's how the Fallen came to be."

"I see," Ye Liang nodded.

Finally, he understood the truth behind Yomibitaka. But now, he was puzzled about how to leave.

"I was wondering how I could..."

"You want to leave, right?" The middle-aged man suddenly cut him off. After speaking, he shook his head helplessly. "That's impossible. You've received the favor of the Queen of Yomi. To leave, you must find a way past her yourself. If we could help you, we would've been reincarnated long ago ourselves."

"In that case, fine," Ye Liang could only shrug.

They moved further into the settlement. The middle-aged man found Ye Liang a room before leaving, claiming it was time for rest—but truthfully, he had other matters to attend to.

Ye Liang glanced around and stepped into the room.

"Is this place really as he described?"

Seated on the bed inside the room, Ye Liang began thinking.

First, he checked his chakra and found he couldn't use it at all. Eventually, he gave up completely.

He accessed the System Space again, but still couldn't sense anything!

"Damn it! Could I really be trapped here for good?"

Just then, a ringing noise suddenly erupted inside Ye Liang's skull. The system-exclusive little girl voice abruptly sounded.

"Master, why is there so much death qi around you?"

"It's the System's consciousness!"

Ye Liang immediately felt shocked. "Can you hear me? I can't access the system right now—you must pull me into the space quickly and see if it works!"

"Inaccessible?" The childish voice sounded again. In an instant, Ye Liang's vision went pitch-black as he was transported into the System Space.

"Oh my God! Thank goodness, there's still some hope!" He took deep breaths to steady himself.

"Master? What exactly happened?" A spherical, childlike System hovered before Ye Liang, sounding quite puzzled. "I sensed death qi near you; it seems like this is a world filled with spirits."

"A world of spirits? What do you mean by that?" Ye Liang quickly asked.

"That's literally what it means." The System spun around twice before continuing, "An Ethereal World refers to a realm where only spirits exist. Such worlds lack the energy needed by living organisms and are thus unfavorable for biological development."

"And eventually, life becomes extinct!"

The system continued explaining, "Once these worlds have wiped out all life forms, they produce death qi capable of attracting spirits. This death qi draws in ethereal beings from nearby spaces—it could be considered a second form of life continuation."

So basically... spirits!

Judging by the System's explanation, wasn't this just hell? Its description just sounded more scientific.

"So tell me, how can I use my internal energy now? I feel like my perception has been completely blocked!" Ye Liang asked urgently.

This was his top priority at the moment!

Without access to Chakra, how was he any better than a useless man?

Next, he'd have to face that mysterious masked Queen of Yomi!

"That's impossible!" The System shook her tiny body. "You're a modern person—you should know that atmospheric pressure exists within the human body. If you attempt to use foreign Chakra that doesn't belong to this world, the immense external death qi will crush your body completely!"

"You'll simply die!"

"So there's absolutely no other way to enhance my strength?" Ye Liang questioned.

"Hmm..." The System started thinking. After a short pause, she replied, "You absolutely can't use any energy other than death qi! However, you can use this death qi itself to strengthen yourself!"

"Strengthen myself?"

"Yes! Exactly! Since it's energy, humans are definitely capable of utilizing it—it just requires unique methods." The system explained, "There are still many ways to utilize death qi stored within my System Space!"

After finishing her statement, the System listed several techniques:

[Technique: Frostbite's Dark Wound Drill!]

[Supreme Magic: Tribute to the Black Goat Mother!]

[Death Finger!]

...

[Song of the Dead - The End!]

These were all infamous necromantic magics—Ye Liang glanced through them and understood instantly.

Could death qi really cultivate someone into becoming a Supreme Necromancer?!

Wasn't this supposed to be the Narutoverse?!

"System!"

"Then hurry up and grant me the secret manual!" Ye Liang exclaimed anxiously, using an imperial tone.

A long silence followed... The System gave no reply...

"System, why aren't you responding?" Ye Liang asked again. At this point, the System's voice finally echoed faintly: "Master, have you forgotten that my Treasure Vault requires a password! Those previous ones had passwords with over twenty digits; it might take me one or two thousand years to decipher them."

"... Then why did you even mention them..."

Ye Liang silently grumbled. He searched through the System's list until he finally found a manual protected by a mere three-digit password.

[Beginner's Guide to Necromancy Cultivation]!

F***!

After what felt like an eternity...

Ye Liang finally emerged from his intensive cultivation. He shook the dust from his body and prepared to leave this den of chaos behind!
