Old Lady Matsushita was so furious her eyes turned red. Though Ye Liang's expression remained indifferent and detached, he had still brought a witch back home in the end.
You can't trust a man's promises—they're just gross flattery.
Even as an old woman, I shouldn't feel this jealousy—but it came anyway.
Ye Liang was having breakfast at the dining table.
The breakfast was surprisingly extravagant. These chefs really knew their craft—that's probably why everyone fights so hard for power!
"Aye, did Kaguya have any unusual activity yesterday?" Ye Liang asked casually while scooping rice. The Servant Girl serving him immediately kowtowed.
"Lord Ye Liang, Lady Kaguya didn't leave her room last night—she should've been asleep," she answered then sat kneeling before Ye Liang.
Ye Liang set his chopsticks down.
"Aye, starting today, you'll be responsible for taking care of Kaguya's daily needs." He gestured toward the table. "Take all this food to her. Also tell her I'll visit after finishing my official duties—let her eat quickly."
"Yes, Lord Ye Liang."
The Servant Girl kowtowed once again before tidying up the table.
Putting down his chopsticks, Ye Liang walked to the door and flung it open.
"I kept you waiting."
Old Lady Matsushita glanced at Ye Liang from outside, lowering her head. "Lord Ye Liang, my son Haruo already investigated the place where Lady Kaguya landed."
"Then there's no mistake. It seems her origin is exactly as I guessed." Ye Liang hopped down from the dining platform and stepped onto the muddy ground of the courtyard. "Old Lady Matsushita, how do women think anyway? Why does a little setback make them turn blackened?"
"Blackened? I'm afraid I don't understand what Lord Ye Liang means."
"Forget it; explaining would only confuse you." Ye Liang turned toward another courtyard on his way to Kaguya's quarters.
Old Lady Matsushita stopped him again. "Lord Ye Liang, we also found a meteorite beside where Lady Kaguya fell—we're not sure about its condition."
"A meteorite too?" Ye Liang hesitated slightly.
Maybe part of the stone broke apart during impact?
"Have Haruo look into it. He's the War Chief now—he can handle these little matters."
"Understood." The old lady's face brightened visibly.
After politely bidding farewell to Old Lady Matsushita, Ye Liang resumed his journey to Kaguya's quarters.
He peeked through the crack in the door.
Kaguya had already finished eating. Sitting upright in the center of the room, who knows what thoughts occupied her mind, motionless like a statue.
Just when Ye Liang felt puzzled, Kaguya spoke first.
"Lord Feudal Ruler has come all the way here—please enter."
"You noticed me already?" Ye Liang scratched his head and walked in.
He sat cross-legged, watching Kaguya who remained motionless at the center of the room, having already finished her meal.
"Did you sleep well last night?"
"Not bad. I just felt cold shivers when I woke up this morning."
"In that case, I'll send someone to bring you some quilts later." Ye Liang looked around Kaguya's room—it was indeed very plain, lacking even basic furniture. He called over the guard standing outside and instructed him to summon more people to bring chairs and benches.
After doing all that,
Kaguya's icy gaze softened slightly.
"It looks like she was always wary of me." Ye Liang settled himself comfortably. "Allow me to formally introduce myself—I am the Daimyo of this land. My name is Ye Liang. May I know the young lady's name?"
He knew her name was Kaguya Hime, yet he still politely asked just the same.
"Kaguya Otsutsuki," Kaguya answered.
"Hmm, a good name. Of course, a name this pleasant must belong to someone as beautiful as you."
Ye Liang let out a weak one-liner.
It was seriously awkward...
Guys like him just don't know how to land a decent joke.
Kaguya Hime looked at Ye Liang strangely. "May I come and go freely? I want to go into the mountains to handle something. It might be far."
"No problem. After a short break, I'll have a servant girl accompany you."
"But I want to go alone."
Ye Liang looked at her and gave a slight nod. He stood up and walked out.
"Somehow interesting. So that's what this is about—planting the God Tree, huh?"
Ye Liang knew the original story.
Kaguya Hime had come to Earth to plant the God Tree by using the planet's energy. If she truly succeeded, Earth would become barren and be completely destroyed.
He silently hid on the rooftop of Kaguya Hime's residence, slightly annoyed.
He originally decided not to kill Kaguya Hime because she hadn't done any evil yet. But seeing her still determined to carry out her plan, Ye Liang felt a bit regretful.
Not long after.
Kaguya Hime indeed walked out.
Ye Liang closely followed behind her.
Though Kaguya possessed the Rinnegan, she currently had no chakra energy. With only faint eye powers, she couldn't detect Ye Liang trailing behind.
He followed Kaguya westward, and soon they crossed over the previous forest.
Both moved quickly; they weren't ordinary humans, so they experienced almost no physical fatigue.
They arrived at a ruined place.
It was desolate. Looking at the half-burnt tree stumps around, this place must've been a forest once.
Ye Liang looked ahead and noticed a huge stone. It was mostly brownish-yellow, appearing sturdy, yet it had cracked into two halves.
"Was this her landing spot?"
Kaguya Otsutsuki stepped between the stones, searching around until she found a plant seed. She scanned her surroundings before tucking the seed back into her clothes.
"The God Tree seed!" Ye Liang's pupils widened. He hesitated over whether to confront her now.
Suddenly, from the woods, a black figure approached. The person had the same skin tone as Kaguya, even the same pupils!
"Another Otsutsuki!"
How could that be? There was supposed to be only one Otsutsuki in all of Shippuden!
Ye Liang chose to hold off for now.
He needed to stay calm!
"Didn't we agree to go our separate ways? What are you doing here now?"
The man grinned looking at the frowning Kaguya Otsutsuki. "I was just worried about you, so I came specially to help."
Kaguya Otsutsuki looked at the smiling man, her brows furrowing.
"You don't trust me? It's just a bunch of Earth monkeys down there—who could possibly give me trouble?"
"You'd better not be so sure!" the man said seriously.
"I heard there's a god here who not only expelled the original lord but also took over the lord's position himself!"
Ye Liang's pupils shifted slightly, nearly revealing a trace of murderous intent.
"This guy has investigated me!"
Unsure of this Otsutsuki's background, Ye Liang decided not to attack immediately.
[Isshiki!]
"Are you kidding? There's no such thing as gods in this world—just illusions and superstition!"
"I'm just looking out for you. Besides, I think this so-called god might actually be like us—another outsider from Earth."
"He isn't an ordinary person either!"
Kaguya's pupils flickered slightly; she was wavering.
From a distance, Ye Liang could only watch in frustration as the man slandered him. He couldn't help but feel a surge of anger.
"If it weren't for my concerns about what tricks you might have up your sleeve, I'd have killed you already!"
He looked down on that gossiping man with disdain.
Kaguya Hime mirrored his expression, clearly disgusted by the man's words.
"Honestly, I don't like spineless men. You'd better leave now—I still have a mission to complete," she said, then glanced in Ye Liang's direction.
At that moment, the man lashed out at her neck!
