The news broadcasted worldwide that a Type 4 civilization had arrived on Earth, sparking both excitement and curiosity across the globe. While some feared the unknown, others saw this as an opportunity for intergalactic diplomacy. The Earth, a thriving Type 2 civilization, had developed rapidly, and its citizens eagerly anticipated the possibility of learning from such an advanced species.
In the heart of the central country, the capital city of Earth stood as a testament to human progress. Towering skyscrapers glistened in the sunlight, and the air was filled with the hum of futuristic flying vehicles. Clean energy powered the city, its infrastructure a blend of cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices.
Queen Seraphina, elegant and poised, walked beside General Alston as they ventured through the streets. The general, a seasoned military leader, spoke with pride.
"Your Majesty, as you can see, Earth has come a long way. Our cities are no longer just structures, but living, breathing hubs of innovation. We've created clean energy sources, embraced green technologies, and advanced our infrastructure beyond what was once imaginable."
Seraphina's eyes scanned the city, a soft smile curving her lips. "I am truly amazed at how quickly you have developed. What fascinates me most is your dedication to the environment. This is a planet I wish to explore further."
Before the general could respond, Anik, her son, piped up from behind. "Mom, I'm going with Rose to explore the city."
Seraphina turned to face her son, her expression a mix of concern and love. "Alright, my dear. Just be careful. This place is new to you."
General Alston, ever the reassuring figure, gave a hearty laugh. "They'll be fine, Your Majesty. My surveillance systems are everywhere. No harm will come to them."
With that, Rose, ever the guide, led Anik out of the royal precincts and into the bustling heart of the city. They emerged into the vast urban expanse, where skyscrapers seemed to stretch into infinity. The sound of flying cars whooshing above, the bright lights of holographic billboards, and the distant strains of music from street performers made the city feel alive in a way Anik had never experienced.
Anik, eyes wide, gazed up at the stunning sight. His thoughts swirled as he took in the futuristic world that surrounded him.
"This place... it's incredible," he muttered, still stunned by the sheer scale of it all.
Rose, glancing over at him with a smirk, teased, "Why are you so surprised? You're acting like you've never seen something like this before."
Anik blinked, his voice almost a whisper. "Yeah... First time in my life."
Rose raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "Really? But your home must be just as advanced, if not more. You're from the future, after all."
Anik chuckled, though it was tinged with the faintest trace of sadness. "My home... it's the complete opposite of this."
They walked further, and the streets became more crowded with people going about their business—some heading to work, others on vacation, while children zoomed past them on flying skateboards and hoverboards.
The sight was something straight out of a science fiction novel, yet here it was, alive and tangible.
Rose's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "I want to know more about you, Anik. Come with me. I'll take you to my favorite place."
She approached a nearby child, a girl no older than eight, who was skating past on a hoverboard. "Hey there! Mind if I borrow your hoverboard for a moment?"
The child, grinning, eagerly agreed. "Sure, Rose sister!"
Rose, ever the playful spirit, took the hoverboard with ease and handed another one to Anik. "Here, this one's for you."
Anik hesitated, looking at the sleek device. He had seen hoverboards before, of course, but never like this—futuristic, streamlined, and glowing with soft neon lights.
Rose hopped onto her board effortlessly, then turned to him with a wink. "It's just like a flying skateboard, but you control it with your body. Don't tell me this is your first time trying it?"
Anik opened his mouth to respond, but before he could say anything, Rose boosted off, gliding into the air with a flourish. She soared above the streets, weaving between towering buildings and skyscrapers with a grace that made it look effortless.
Anik stood there for a moment, his mouth slightly agape, watching Rose zipping through the air. He didn't realize it until now, but this was just as new to him as everything else in this city.
Reluctantly, he stepped onto the hoverboard, feeling the cool surface beneath his feet. He wasn't sure what to expect, but suddenly, the board hummed to life. Before he could steady himself, the lights on the underside of the board flickered red, and it shot upward with a surprising burst of speed.
Anik gasped, unable to control the rapid ascent. His feet slipped, and his body swayed dangerously. The world around him seemed to blur as the hoverboard took him higher and higher. "No! Wait! This is too fast!"
His voice cracked with panic as the wind whipped past his face. He struggled to keep his balance, but his body instinctively shifted, trying to understand how to control the board. Nothing worked.
The hoverboard seemed to have a mind of its own, taking him on a wild ride through the streets. The dizzying height made his stomach lurch. Below him, the city looked like a sprawling labyrinth of steel and glass, its dizzying expanse disorienting him.
"Rose! Rose!" Anik screamed, his voice swallowed by the wind.
He tried to twist his body, trying to slow himself down or steer the hoverboard, but it only sped up, sending him hurtling toward a group of pedestrians. His heart raced as he closed his eyes, bracing for impact.
Suddenly, he felt a firm grip on his arm. Rose had flown back, catching up with him in a flash, and now she was guiding his hoverboard with a calm ease that made Anik feel both embarrassed and relieved. "You have to trust the board," she said, her voice surprisingly steady. "Let it work with you, not against you."
Anik's breath came in short gasps. "I... I didn't know it would do this!"
Rose chuckled softly, her expression a mix of amusement and concern. "You should've told me it was your first time."
Anik managed a weak smile, feeling his nerves settle as the hoverboard slowly leveled out. With Rose's guidance, he was finally able to glide through the air, though it was still shaky.
"You're doing great," Rose encouraged him. "Now just follow my lead. Trust yourself."
For the first time since they'd left the palace, Anik felt a sense of exhilaration rather than fear. The city stretched out before him, and with Rose by his side, he felt ready to explore the incredible world around him, one hoverboard ride at a time.
The two hoverboards zipped through the air, weaving between towering skyscrapers. The wind rushed past, carrying the faint hum of distant traffic. Anik, still a little wobbly, tried his best to follow Rose's confident gliding. Rose turned her head slightly, her voice carried effortlessly over the wind.
"It's all about balance and momentum. Don't look right or left—keep your eyes straight ahead. The board moves with your body, not against it."
But Anik, ever curious, found his attention drifting. His gaze caught sight of a woman on a nearby balcony, carefully hanging clothes to dry. She seemed so mundane yet serene amidst the city's chaos. The moment of distraction was enough to send his hoverboard tilting dangerously. Before he could react, the board spiraled out of control, and he collided with the side of a building, letting out a startled yell.
Rose skidded to a stop mid-air, doubling over with laughter. Her voice rang out like a melody against the bustling city sounds. "You're supposed to be the future prince, but you're acting like a little baby! Did the balcony lady scare you?"
Anik groaned, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment. He quickly maneuvered the hoverboard back into the air, leveling himself alongside Rose. "Alright, alright, laugh it up," he muttered. "But where's this best place you keep talking about?"
Rose wiped a tear from her eye, still grinning. "Just follow me and wait for five minutes. You'll see."
Anik, intrigued but cautious now, stuck close to her as she led him through the maze of skyscrapers. His eyes darted to the tallest one piercing the clouds, its sleek surface gleaming in the sunlight. "That one," he said, pointing. "Look at the tallest skyscraper over there."
Rose smirked, glancing at him. "We're not just looking. We're going above it. Move upward!"
With a flick of her body, she soared upward like a bird taking flight. Anik hesitated only briefly before following, the hoverboard responding to his tentative shifts.
As they ascended above the skyscraper, the city below became a shimmering grid of lights and motion, almost like a living organism. At the very top of the building, a large, lush tree spread its branches wide—a stark contrast to the cold steel and glass surrounding it.
"Wait," Anik said, blinking in surprise. "A tree? At the top of a skyscraper?"
Rose was already landing gracefully on the tree's branches. "Come on! Trust me. Just go inside the tree." Without further explanation, she disappeared into the tree, her figure swallowed by its thick, vibrant foliage.
Anik stared at the spot she vanished into, his brow furrowed.
"Wait, what? How—" He sighed, shaking his head. "Fine. Here goes nothing." Steeling himself, he guided his hoverboard closer to the tree and stepped into its dense greenery. He closed his eyes instinctively, unsure of what to expect. The cool air brushed against his face, and for a brief moment, the world felt silent.
When he opened his eyes, his breath caught in his throat. Inside the tree was a hidden sanctuary—a treehouse unlike anything he'd ever seen. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting intricate patterns of light and shadow on the wooden floor. Small decorations hung from the ceiling, swaying gently in the breeze.
The air was cool and fresh, carrying the faint, earthy scent of leaves and wood. Rays of golden sunlight streamed through cracks in the treehouse walls, illuminating shelves filled with books, a sleek computer, and framed photographs. In one corner, a small bed with colorful cushions sat invitingly, exuding warmth and comfort.
"This is... incredible," Anik said, his voice barely above a whisper. His eyes roamed over the cozy space, taking in every detail. "It's beautiful. The treehouse, the air, the way the sunlight filters through the leaves... It feels like a dream."
Rose was leaning casually on the wooden balcony that jutted out from the treehouse. She turned to look at him, her expression soft but proud. "Welcome to my best place—or maybe I should say my secret place."
