Chapter 4 - Auva: Twin of Altair, Daughter of Artemis

"Yoohoo!" Auva saw a blurred hand wave in front of her face, and another face behind those fingers. "Who in the Underworld's name are you?" She lifted her head groggily, who dared kidnap her? Daughter of the Night, of Artemis? A mirthful and sadistic chuckle followed after her question, "You know, it's quite amusing you acquainted me with the Underworld," the blurred being said with a low and dragged voice, one that sounded male and not like the silky voice the woman that kidnapped her had, "because that's exactly where I'm from."

Auva often did not experience the typical fear and anxiety mortals felt, or even some immortals, like Altair. But in this moment, questions were racing through her mind like the chariots at the Dionysus Festival. Even with her eyes fully cleared, she could not capture the figure that slinked around her like a panther on the prowl. "Why am I here? Answer now or you shall face the fury of my wrath."

The figure emerged in the slight corner of her vision, a pool of obsidian irises piercing back into her glacial ones. A few strands of crimson slipping between them. Not many deities had crimson strands that embodied the heat of vengeance, passion, and fury. This being was definitely not Eris. This could only be Killian, someone she knew rather little about.

"What are your intentions with me, son of Hades? I have no intention of being a puppet in this presumptuous war your father has declared." Auva had hardly taken account of where she was right now, only who was there. Obviously, this is not the fearful being that had abducted her initially. But she had no consolation that Killian would not be just as fearful.

Killian lifted his head in a quick arc, circling Auva like a hungry shark. Ready to attack and feast on his prey. He tapped his pointer finger on his chin ever so playfully, feigning thought, "Hmm, where shall I begin, Daughter of the Night?" Auva peered around, ignoring to even spare him a glance out of annoyance. It appeared she was in some sort of study, one encased by ancient and glistening artifacts from the beginning of time.

She was chained by the same ones they use to incapacitate the foolish Titans and unfathomable beings in Tartarus. Wasn't that just absolutely perfect. No being, deity or mortal, could escape the binds that Hephaestus fabricated and ensnared others in. Only Hephaestus could, or whoever proclaimed ownership over these damned binds.

A fountain that poured the same crimson of Killian's locks was settled in the middle of the study, ensnared by midnight vines that had shards of amethyst embedded in them. He propped himself up against the obsidian marble, cocking his head to the side, "I have no reason to divulge my intentions," he answered the question with a devilish smile that revealed a pair of fangs. Up until this very moment, Auva had forgotten she had a twin. And she couldn't feel his presence.

And she knew exactly who to ask, even though she knew she would get some ambiguous and annoying answer. She ground her teeth until she could feel the bone, "Where is my twin, Killian?" He shimmied, fucking shimmied, with giddy, "Clever and sharp, this one. I never thought you would ask," he pushed himself off the fountain and adjusted the black sleeves that were tight against his decorated forearms, "but since you did, I suppose I may indulge you with a bite of information." The word ended with a silky tone that he made sure to enunciate while looking back at Auva, circling the fountain in front of her.

"You see, him and I are actually friends. Foolish of him to believe, honestly. Your twin is quite foolish, too trusting, too kind, too himself," Killian ended with a sneer of disgust, "yet you, you are not like that, are you? I can sense it. Quite the opposites, interesting..." He squinted his eyes at Auva in scrutiny and waved his hand to focus himself, "we happened to run into each other and now he's not here."

"What the fuck do you mean not here?" Auva knew there was no point in struggle, but she was foolish in this moment. She couldn't feel her fucking twin. Killian said he's not here, so where the fuck is he? He could not be...no. He was not. Auva would not allow it. "Stop with your mindless trickery, you will not deceive me, son of Hades."

He tutted with his tongue and motioned along with his finger, "I'm not that heartless, I would not kill my dear friend...yet," he released a long sigh as if he was the one chained and abducted, not Auva, "he's just stuck in a labyrinth in the Underworld, heading towards death himself. Let's call it a fun game, one you shall soon join." With that, Killian flashed her a grinned fang that seemed to linger before he disappeared.
