Chapter 2 - The escape

once he was outside he called out his personal guard

"Cheng Feng"

"yes master." Cheng Feng who had been standing outside the king palace quickly came rushing down the stairs.

"let's go" shen Yue didn't even wait for his body guard before he started moving toward his carriage.

***Meanwhile, in the Wu Mansion**

A young man, his cheek turned a delicate pink from being stuck in the cold for so long, peeked cautiously through the wooden door of his room. His black hair was neatly styled, adorned with a gleaming golden hairpiece that sparkled softly. His long, silky strands cl clung to his now-chilled face, framing his features perfectly. His doe-like eyes nervously scanned the distance, vigilantly looking out for any sign of guards, while he anxiously chewed on his pink lips.

"Xiao Lu," the maid, who was anxiously standing beside her young master, answered in a hushed, nervous tone, "Y-young master, we shouldn't be doing this! If Master catches us, we'll both be in big trouble!"

Wu Lei, seemingly unaware of or choosing to ignore the maid's palpable nervousness, replied with a charming smile, "What are you scared of, Xiao Lu? Father is still busy in his study. We only have an hour to slip outside the mansion and see the fireworks. Besides, this is our only chance after waiting for months." His voice was smooth as silk, and his two beautiful dimples made him utterly irresistible to anyone who laid eyes on him. Xiao Lu, who was already on edge, didn't even have a chance to react before Wu Lei quickly grabbed her hand and dragged her along the corridor, sneaking stealthily towards the main entrance.

"Young master, what are you doing?" Xiao Lu whispered urgently as they made their swift escape from the young master's residence, heading towards the main gate.

"Shhhh," Wu Lei giggled, playfully blocking the maid's mouth, clearly treating this escapade like a thrilling game he was thoroughly enjoying. However, their merry antic didn't last long, as Zhang Wei, the master's personal bodyguard, suddenly spotted them.

"Ahem,"

Zhang Wei's stern voice cut through the air, causing Xiao Lu's expression to turn deathly pale. Wu Lei's eyes quickly flicked up to meet Zhang Wei's blank, unreadable face, which regarded him with a deeply questioning expression.

Wu Lei's smile faltered, and he sheepishly grinned, quickly scrambling to his feet. "Zhang Wei, when did you get here?" he asked, trying to sound nonchalant.

"Xiao Lu and I were just... checking out the gardens, weren't we?" He raised his eyebrow at Xiao Lu, who hastily nodded in agreement, "Mmm-hmm... y-yes, yes, yes, we were." For a fleeting moment, it seemed like Zhang Wei might actually believe them, but then he scoffed, dashing their hopes. The next minute, Xiao Lu and the young master found themselves unceremoniously bundled back into their room. "Young master, you're not allowed to go out for the meantime," Zhang Wei declared sternly, and with that, the door was suddenly shut close, sealing their fate.
