Chapter 167 - 167

In a secret meeting room in the United States, a gathering of the country's so-called elites and high-ranking officials took place. They were the crucial force secretly influencing the direction of the US, and here, whether in the military, business, or political circles, there were influential, even preeminent, families.

"Gentlemen, how should we handle this mutant situation?" The President, not seated at the head of the table, but rather in a central position, inquired.

"If you ask me, we should just nuke the place and blow all those mutants to smithereens!" The Army Chief of Staff's rather displeased voice echoed, causing some to frown.

"That's Pennsylvania, on the southeastern side, very close to Washington and New York. If we were to nuke it, Washington and New York would inevitably be affected by nuclear radiation…" Someone immediately stood up to oppose the Army Chief of Staff's suggestion, as their faction was based near Washington.

"Precisely. Besides, have you figured out Jean Grey's power? What if she can decompose nuclear bombs? Your Army Mechanized Infantry Division was scared off by a single move and hasn't dared to attack since. Now you dare to suggest a nuclear strike?" Another person scoffed, seemingly at odds with the Army Chief of Staff.

"Don't you know how valuable a human life is?" The Army Chief of Staff glared, eyes wide, at the two people who had just spoken. "Or are you saying that if a large number of soldiers are sacrificed, you'll be the ones to distribute the compensation?"

"Gentlemen, we are not here to discuss whether we should have fought before, but how to deal with the mutant situation now. Are we really going to give them an autonomous state?" The President was quite annoyed by these individuals who started arguing after only a few words, but he couldn't directly lash out, so he could only redirect the conversation.

"Mr. Sherman, I recall the Sherman family knows a formidable individual. I wonder if he could be persuaded to resolve this matter?" The Army Chief of Staff suddenly thought of something and asked Mark Sherman.

"If you ask me, it would be better to just let the mutants form an autonomous state," Mark Sherman remained silent about Huang Wen, although he knew that these old foxes around him had already uncovered many things related to Huang Wen and the Sherman family.

"After all, we cannot easily prevent the birth of mutants. Instead of having them scattered across various parts of the United States, it would be better to settle them together. This way, it's easier to manage and can reduce mutant crime…"

"We could even promise the mutant autonomous state certain law enforcement powers, of course, this power would only be used on mutants themselves, letting them handle the apprehension of mutant offenders. This would create class divisions among them and generate internal conflicts!"

"Indeed, we've never found a complete solution to the mutant problem. Our previous tolerance of both the hawkish and dovish factions was a desperate measure, aimed at avoiding large-scale conflicts and social unrest…" An ally of the Sherman family nodded, agreeing with Mark Sherman's viewpoint.

"And now, if we can gather the mutants, even if it's just most of them, it will facilitate our management. At the very least, if mutants commit crimes, we can rightfully pressure the entire mutant community, igniting conflicts among them!"

The President's gaze flickered. He didn't want to get too involved in the mutant issue; if mishandled, it would become a stain on his political career. However, with the backing of these influential figures, he wouldn't have to take the blame himself.

"Then, as per usual, let's vote. Those in favor of the mutants forming an autonomous state, raise your hands. Those against, do not raise your hands. If it doesn't pass, then those who didn't raise their hands will reconvene to discuss a feasible plan…" The President took a deep breath and slowly raised his hand.

Ultimately, Mark Sherman's proposal was supported by 70% of the people and opposed by 30%, so the proposal passed.

"Then, the task of contacting the mutants will be left to the Sherman family." A huge weight was finally lifted from the President's mind; this irresistible force, the mutants, could finally settle down a bit.

"Beep beep beep!" Just as everyone thought the matter was concluded and they could leave, an alarm suddenly blared, and everyone received a new message through their respective means.

In an Air Force base, a monster similar to the Hulk appeared. It fought its way out of the base, causing numerous Air Force soldiers to die, and it seemed as if there was no life left in the entire base. This message was an alarm automatically recorded when the Air Force base was attacked.

"Ross?" Mark Sherman instantly thought of General Ross. His expression changed, and he immediately stood up. "Prepare attack helicopters to investigate the situation at the Air Force base. Also, send people to find the monster similar to the Hulk!"

"It seems I don't need to worry about compensation first; your Air Force department will have to consider that now…" The Army Chief of Staff's somewhat gloating voice rang out, but Mark Sherman ignored him, merely giving him a cold glance before turning and leaving.

Rewinding a bit, back at the Air Force base, General Ross received news of Charles's failure, and his heart was filled with apprehension. However, at that very moment, changes were unfolding within the Air Force base itself.

Emil Blonsky, who had been declared dead and was having his blood and cell tissues extracted, suddenly showed signs of life again. His cells began to activate, and then violently mutated.

In just an instant, before the researchers could even react, Emil Blonsky transformed into the incredibly grotesque Abomination. Furthermore, unlike the Abomination in the original story, who was merely arrogant enough to disregard the military's existence but held no animosity towards it, this Abomination was different.

He had previously participated in the flawed serum experiment, which was voluntary, but the subsequent experiments involving Bruce Banner's blood and gamma rays were not. Even being dissected, analyzed, and having his blood and cell tissues extracted was not something the Abomination had consented to.

Therefore, the newly transformed Abomination immediately chose to kill all the researchers and went on a rampage throughout the entire Air Force base. Even General Ross, who rushed over to command, was kicked away by the Abomination, close to death.

"Now, you are the useless ones…" A hint of mockery flashed in the Abomination's eyes as he looked at the scattered corpses and burst out of the Air Force base.
