Chapter 1 - Nea Harley

"Master!"

His bouncy voice is so beautiful it trembles.

The one waving happily was a man with long hair that was a cool, pure white reminiscent of a white pearl-shell, with a touch of rainbow coloring.

Even now, that I'm used to seeing him, his single loosely braided braid swaying as he walks towards me, his stunning beauty is enough to send chills down my spine.

However, the flowers at his feet really did bloom and then wither in the blink of an eye, so it's possible that a magical influence was occurring.

This was a special kind of monster that caused abnormalities in reason itself.

Innocent, new green buds sprout on the pale ground, which hints at winter, sprouting fresh green leaves, blooming with lustrous flowers, and then withering and falling.

Sparkling in a crisp pale blue was a mineral flower, swelling into a small rose-like blossom.

Just looking at it would be a sight so beautiful it would make you sigh, but when you notice that the usually fluffy fairies flying around the area seem to have sensed an ominous presence and are hiding in the shadows of the trees, it seems that this monster is not in a good mood.

Nea, also known as Nea Harley, whose true name is currently hidden due to various circumstances, quickly grimaced at the approaching threat.

Whenever the beautiful contracted monster smiled like this, it was always because some kind of danger was approaching Nea.

Perhaps because the humans here were trying all sorts of ways to escape, this beautiful monster would sometimes smile like a monster to assert that Nea was under his jurisdiction.

Furthermore, when this was pointed out to the monster, he dropped his head sadly and said that this was in no way a ploy, but was simply out of love for his beloved master.

This is a very suspicious claim.

Dino is a drug monster.

Nea clears her throat without changing her expression.

There were a variety of reactions around them: some people quickly turned their faces away, some frowned clearly, and some just shook their heads frantically.

But Dino is a drug monster.

Among the monsters that can make a contract with a song beggar in this world, they are the weakest and most useful monsters that are closely related to daily life.

If this beautiful monster was truly a fragile one as the word implied, Nea would have treasured Dino very much and would never have let him go.

However, Nea is currently in the midst of actively searching for a new job.

In order to avoid getting caught up in political machinations in an unfamiliar world where she has no backing, she is desperately looking for a business partner and partner who is solid, average, and fun to be around.

However, for some reason, her plans always seem destined to be discovered.

(The ribbon that ties Dino's hair is probably something I gave to another monster...)

Nea looks off into the distance, having come across something that is bothering her again today.

The wide navy blue ribbon swaying in Dino's pearl-colored hair is made of soft velvet.

I had just bought it with my first paycheck the other day, and I was supposed to have just spent it last night on this cute, obedient monster I'd found on the side of the road, with a nice worn-out, lived-in feel.

However, the ribbon was currently knotted vertically at the braided tail of the contracted monster before her, and despite its gorgeous appearance, it seemed that this monster was not very good at tying ribbons.

"Dino, what happened to the brick monster I was trying to recruit?"

Dino was asked that question right away, and as he picked up a lock of Nea's hair, he smiled a cunning and beautiful smile befitting a monster.

With a loud slap, Nea released her hair, and Dino's smile deepened with delight.

I honestly don't understand why he stares admiringly at the hand that was just slapped.

"Nea is cute today too."

"If those ears are just decorations, why don't you go and see the medical practitioner at this villa?"

"Yeah, you're really cute."

"Where is the brick monster now?"

When asked that question, Dino turned to me with a smile full of affection.

Even without any prior knowledge, the higher the rank, the more beautiful the monster becomes.

His dripping sex appeal is enough to make anyone who isn't used to it faint, and in fact, Nea's ex-fiance fainted the moment he saw Dino.

It was a bittersweet memory for Nea to clasp his hand and ask if that was his preference, and it was his first time meeting someone of such status as a former prince.

Even though she was a lovely young woman with her own dreams and ideals, she had no choice but to accept that reality was cruel.

Fortunately for Nea, who was called down to this world from somewhere other than here, Dino's good looks, which in themselves could be a great magical burden, did not seem to have any influence that would affect her will.

Of course, it is beautiful enough to make one's head spin, but rather than feeling that it is an undeserved grace, one is never in awe or fascinated by it.

This may be because Nea was a dropout from the previous world where all she had to wear were itchy sweaters, and she was such a selfish person that she threw them away in disgust and lived a freezing life, or it may be because the intensity of the story was so unrealistic that it did not move the hearts of the common people.

Plus, we live in such a beautiful, colorful, strange world, and there are beautiful things everywhere that can enrich our souls just by looking at them.

Taking a deep breath, I feel content with the sweet, refreshing air of this land.

Could the crystals that spilled out be blessings that had fallen from a rose in full bloom?

The sparkling light is the sparkle of fairies, and the sight of a dragon flying through the night sky is no illusion.

This is a fairy tale world.

Every time I think about it, I remember my life before, when there wasn't even a trace of magic to help me, and the tension in my chest trembles slightly.

This is a fairy tale world, so maybe this time the wish that has never come true will finally come to be.

"That monster is no longer a brick monster, and is probably having fun somewhere new?"

"...Dino, you did what I told you not to do again, didn't you?"

"I followed your orders, master. So instead of erasing it, I reworked it into a different creature."

Hearing this as if he wanted a little praise, Nea felt like letting out a sigh.

"If he were to be turned into a different creature, then all of his life up until now... and all his feelings and thoughts would be wiped from his mind, right?"

"Well, that's none of my business."

(And what kind of creature were they remade into?)

The beautiful monster before her tilted his head in confusion, not understanding why Nea was angry. Of course, it was not a medicine monster.

He is originally a monster who governs reason.

To protect herself from future political issues, he was ordered by Nea to become a medicine monster, but since he is actually a monster of reason, he makes full use of his abilities and privileges and lives a very free life.

As a result, the monsters that Nea considered transferring her contract to, often ended up going missing.

At first, he told me with a nonchalant look on his face that he had broken them, so we strictly forbidden him from harming others.

However, this time, it seemed that he had changed their strategy to reworking the object and remaking it into something else, and then discarding it.

Once reworked, the original memories and very existence are lost, and it is as if they never existed in the first place.

The only one who can escape his control and retain their original memories is Nea, who is bound to Dino by a contract.

If that is the case, one would think that it would be better to either impose an order in the contracted or to terminate the contract itself, but there is a reason why this is not possible.

"Song beggar" is the name given to those who lure monsters through singing and make a pact with them.

And, in return for the contract, you must grant one wish of the monster you have made a contract with for each command.

Therefore, this involvement wears down Nea herself.

A lot.

Some people might laugh at this and say it's an exaggeration.

However, when Nea ordered the monsters she had selected as potential transfer candidates not to be harmed when they had not harmed her, she was forced to fulfill a very unwanted wish: to use Dino as a chair for the day.

As a result, Nea's mental lifespan was shortened by roughly a year, and the next day she came down with a fever and was bedridden.

In addition, Dino was in a good mood all day after Nea, who had taken out her frustration on him and developed a fever from the shame, so you can see just how dangerous it is to grant this monster's wish.

In other words, this medicine monster named Dino was a very troublesome monster who preferred to be treated roughly by his master.

If that's the case, it would be fine if they just listened to orders, but if they give orders that are inconvenient for them, they will exact a full payment, making them extremely despicable.

"I wish you'd just give up on job hunting"

"My mentality is quite ordinary. I don't have the confidence to spend my whole life with a troublesome monster who likes to become a chair or be stuffed, so it can't be helped."

"Master is cold..."

"Damn, even your sad face won't fool me!"

That's why Nea Harley is still desperately searching for a new job today.

The beautiful creature before her, whining and begging not to go anywhere, sometimes seemed very lonely and helpless, and that is a secret she kept from the creature himself.
