"Something is definitely wrong. I don't know what to do!" Alfa said, sitting on his chair in his office.
Ronald sat on the chair across from him.
"What happened?" The beta asked his alpha. His friend.
Alfa told him about what had happened with him and Arya. They never hid anything from each other, ever since they were children.
"You know, she's kinda right. You made a decision about her wolf without even asking her," Ronald said, while Alfa stared daggers at him.
"What? You know I'm right!" Ronald said when Alfa just sat there staring.
"Ronald, I want to know what I should do, not what I have already done!" Alfa said, standing up.
He walked towards the window and stared outside. "You know Ron, I thought what I was doing was right. With a tainted wolf, she'd have gone wild. Who knows, even destroyed our pack." Alfa turned to face him. "But now, I realize that I made a mistake. I want to fix it. But I don't know how!"
"For starters, you should find out if she's a demon or a witch. Then, decide who to meet. Whatever she is, that's who can help us," Ronald said thoughtfully.
"Ronald Sinclair, you're a genius. Why didn't I think of that?" Alfa said excitedly.
"But the question is, how?" Ronald said, making Alfa's smile drop. "She can't stand you, and the rest of us can't just walk up to her and ask her what she is!"
"I can. When she sees me, she gets annoyed, and her other personality comes to life."
"But Alfa, why would she tell you what she is becoming?"
"I can try," Alfa said.
The pain in his chest grew every second. He was the one who revealed her wolf. He was the one who had killed her friend, and he was the one who imprisoned her other friend and her family.
He then prevented Natalie and her from meeting and put her wolf into a dormant position.
But how was he supposed to know that she would turn into this demon or witch thing?
He just wanted to protect her and their relationship. He loved her too much to let her go, so he did what he thought was right.
They, the werewolf council and the ancient texts, say that anything touched by a demon would have its soul tainted for life. Arya's soul was her wolf. So he made a deal with Valac to put Bella into a deep sleep in exchange for her to heal quickly and without pain.
How was he supposed to know all this would backfire at him?
"Are you listening to me, Alpha?" Ronald's voice cut through, and his thoughts melted away like butter under heat.
"What? I didn't hear you!"
"I said, I know a witch who owes me a favor. We could talk to her and see what she says!" Ronald said, clearly repeating his sentence.
"The same witch who's child you once saved?" Alfa asked, remembering when they were younger, a rogue had attacked a young girl in the forest, and Ronald jumped in to save her, despite the fact it was forbidden.
He had thought that she was a human but still risked exposure to save her.
He had stayed with her until her mother came back. That's when he realized she was a witch.
When she heard what had happened from her daughter, she promised to return the favor one day.
"Well, yes!" His beta replied.
"No, Ronald. That is for you, not me. I can not take this from you!" Alfa said, shaking his head.
"I am doing this for myself, my Alpha, and my pack," Ronald said, standing up. "We need our Luna back, Alfa."
Alfa thought long and hard. It felt wrong to take a promise meant for someone else; but then again, this witch could point him in the right direction to start.
"Look, I know what you're thinking!" Ronald said, knowing the storm brewing in his Alpha's hesrt and mind. "Don't think of that. Think of what would happen to this pack if our Luna goes missing, or worse, goes insane."
Alfa looked at him, his eyes telling the story of the pain hidden deep inside his heart.
"You know I'm right. You are my Alpha! It would be my pleasure to serve you and the pack and my Luna. Just say yes, and I'll make arrangements to contact her."
Alfa's eyes filled with tears of gratitude. He was the Alpha, yet it was easier to break down in front of his friend. Ronald understood him inside out, and without him, this whole pack would have tasted dust a long time ago.
Even his father, the beta before him, was the best possible beta ever.
Alfa couldn't form words, so he just nodded.
"Great! I'll call her right now... " Ronald said, taking out his phone.
The mindlink could be done within a pack and within the territory. With other species, they had to use a phone or send letters through email.
The grey eyed man walked out after taking his leave from the Alpha while dialing someone's number.
As Alfa sat there all alone, he couldn't help but think of the times he made terrible mistakes, and Ronald was always there to clean it up.
Without him, the pack would have been destroyed. Since the day Kane had stepped down from his position as Alpha, many packs tried to wage war to win over the new Alpha. It was always Ronald's strategy that helped them win.
Ronald was a master when it came to making plans and looking for solutions to problems.
His plans and strategies never failed, and he always had a plan B, though they never needed to use that.
This has been his special gift since childhood. He always knew the best ways to defeat his opponents in the battle studies.
It was mandatory for all pack members to learn battles and strategies. They had an entirely separate class for that.
Even before he got his wolf, he could defend himself from wolves and defeat wolves much larger than him.
Alfa and Ronald were born just months apart and were taken care of by the same nanny. Their fathers were also close, so they developed a strong bond from when they were pups.
Now, Alfa only hoped that the witch agrees to meet them, and Arya gets cured. His mate, his love, his luna is suffering.
As soon as Ronald talks with her, he wants to set out to meet her. The faster they find a solution, the better.
