Chapter 77 - Lunch with Rodriguez

"Donna, can I ask you something?" Arya asked as she sat on the bed.

She had by now realized that she was here for two weeks, which she couldn't remember anything about.

And the service that she's getting is not normal. She needed to find out what happened in those two weeks.

"Yes, you can ask me anything!" Came the reply.

"Donna, you said I was here for two weeks. I don't remember anything about it. Can you tell me what happened during those times?" Arya asked.

"I would have loved to, but it's not my place. My Alpha is the right person to tell you about all that. Please forgive me."

The way Donna said that made Arya feel so respected.

Arya just nodded in understanding. It would be only right that she learned about her stay here from the very person who allowed her in.

Arya lay on the bed, thinking of what she was to do. If Alfa found out about her intentions, would he support her? Or will he simply shun her for even thinking that?

One thing she was certain of, losing Bella somehow awakened something else in her. What, she didn't know, but she felt herself grow.

Grow in a sense that she feels Alfa and her were never meant for each other. She feels that there is something out here, calling to her. It's almost like a power waiting to wake up in her.

When she heard that Bella was in a dormant sleep, she was devastated, but now, she feels that the blackout she had was because of a greater power waking up.

She will get the answers in her great grandmother's cave. The book to everlasting beauty...

What was happening to her? She was never into beauty or fashion! Now, she wants to look young and beautiful. And she will do anything to achieve it. Anything at all.

There was a respectful knock on the door. Arya sat up in the bed and called out, "Yes?"

"My Alpha called you for lunch," said Donna, after opening the door.

"Donna, are there any clothes I could borrow? I want to have a bath before eating."

"There are clothes in the closet," Donna replied, pointing at a closed door. "I'll inform my Alpha that you'll be down in a few minutes."

Arya opened the closet after Donna left and found beautiful dresses and some fresh towels. The dresses were her size, and they were all the latest fashion.

Arya grabbed a towel and turned, then remembered she didn't know where the bathroom was. She forgot to ask Donna, and she must have thought she already knew where it was. She had been here for two weeks, after all.

Arya opened the door next to the closet and found it was another closet containing shoes and bags.

The third door had the bathroom. Arya's mouth hung open. Marble bath and floors greeted her. The shower was in a square shape, but there were no buttons. How was she supposed to use it?

There were anti slip mats on the floor, and on one side of the bath, there was a full-length mirror. Arya felt like she was in a futuristic bathroom.

It took a moment for her to know how to open the tap. They were senser operated. Arya just had to stand in front of them.

After having a quick shower, she wore a simple cotton pink dress. She combed her hair and stared at her reflection in the mirror.

She wasn't getting any younger. There were no wrinkles yet, but it would appear one day or another. Dark circles were visible under her eyes, and she looked tired.

Of course, she was tired. Only she knows how she ran barefoot out of the Moonsglow territory and through the town that she once lived into get here.

She was lucky she knew which street had a lot of people and which street would be empty at the time she crossed it.

A soft knock on the door got her back to reality. It reminded her that she had lunch with Rodriguez.

"Yes, I'm almost done," Arya called out.

"Okay, miss," came a man's voice.

She had thought it was Donna.

"Wait," she called out, as she ran to open the door.

"Yes, miss?" Came the voice.

Arya opened the door to a young looking guy, wearing a waiters uniform.

"Where's Donna? Arya asked curiously.

"She went to pick her children from school. That is why I came to check on you," he replied.

"Can you take me to Alpha Rodriguez, please?" Arya asked, just as her stomach growled.

"It would be my pleasure, miss."

Arya noticed that he also spoke with great respect towards her, just like Donna. Were all the wolves here this way? Or was this just a show for Arya?

The young man took Arya through the way Donna had used to bring her in. They turned right just as they were about to reach the sitting area.

Arya was met with yet another surprise. The dining table was huge, and the chairs looked like they belonged to the royal Alpha.

Sitting at the head was Alpha Rodriguez, wearing a nice black shirt and black pants. He looked different from the man who came to rescue them that day of the rogue attack.

He looked... Arya couldn't form words... like batman! Intimidating, charming, yet mysterious.

"I've been waiting for you. The lunch is set. Dig in," he said when he saw her.

Sure enough, the table lay with the finest meal ever, baked chicken, grilled fish, lamb shoulder... meshed potatoes, salad, fruits, vegetables, bread... and so much more.

Arya's stomach growled louder. Seeing all the food made her hungrier.

A low chuckle left Rodriguez. "Seems like your stomach agrees with the 'dig in' part."

Arya tried to hide her face because she knew her cheeks were red as a tomato.

Arya sat a few chairs away from her host and began collecting food on a plate. Then, she sat down and, before devouring, looked at Rodriguez.

He gave a small nod of confirmation, and she began eating. She ate like she had been starving for days. "Mmmm, this is so delicious," Arya said before stuffing more salad in her mouth.

Rodriguez stared at her while eating. He was curious. Did this woman in front of him truly forget everything they talked about before? Or was she just testing his hunger for revenge?

"Alpha Rodriguez, I wanted to ask you something. Please, can you tell me what happened in the two weeks that I was here? I just want to make sure I'm really on the same page as you!" Arya asked.

That confirms the suspicion Rodriguez had was wrong. She really didn't know what happened.

"Let's finish eating, then we will talk."
