Chapter 40 - 40

Today, Luke Cage's peaceful life was about to be completely shattered.

As several sounds of screeching brakes came from outside the tavern, five black SUVs stopped on the road in front of the tavern, directly blocking the entire street!

The commotion outside quickly caught the attention of the customers inside the tavern.

How many good people live in Hell's Kitchen?

Here, 99% are heinous criminals.

The remaining 1% are those who are forced to live here out of helplessness.

Obviously, there were no such people among the customers in the tavern today.

Therefore, when they saw a group of obviously ill-intentioned guys getting out of the cars, almost everyone subconsciously pulled out their weapons and silently prepared themselves.

Although Old Man's Tavern has a rule against fighting, this group of people didn't look like they were from Hell's Kitchen.

They looked more like lackeys raised by rich people!

Ding-a-ling!

The tavern door was pushed open.

Quinn walked in with his men from outside the tavern.

All of the people behind him were members of the Poison Squad, secretly trained by the Osborn Group, or rather, by the late Roman Osborn.

The Poison Squad had a total of 18 members, each of whom had undergone horrific experimental modifications, turning each of them into terrifying killing machines!

In terms of physical fitness, every member of the Poison Squad was comparable to Captain America during World War II.

And they had no emotions, only acting on command.

They were somewhat like the Winter Soldier.

However, unlike Captain America and the Winter Soldier, the members of the Poison Squad were monsters!

The term 'monsters' here doesn't mean they were incredibly strong.

It's literal!

Due to the cruel and incomplete experimental modifications, every member of the Poison Squad became neither human nor ghost.

Therefore, each of them wore a special mask on their face; this wasn't for show, but because their faces were truly unpresentable!

Not only their faces, but their bodies were also like this.

You know what Deadpool looks like, right?

These Poison Squad members looked even more terrifying than Deadpool!

Moreover—they were short-lived!

Theoretically, every member of the Poison Squad could only live for about one to three years after the experiment succeeded.

After that, their body genes would completely collapse, and their entire bodies would turn into a pool of pus!

The kind where there's no complete corpse left—it was truly miserable!

PS: Seventh update!

Chapter 47: The Strength of the Poison Squad! Luke Cage Captured!

Fortunately, the Poison Squad could prolong their lifespan by freezing them.

So, when they weren't needed, they could be directly frozen.

This ensured long-term use!

However, the Osborn Group's brainwashing ability still couldn't compare to HYDRA.

After all, HYDRA was the expert in this area, while the Osborn Group was, at most, an amateur.

Therefore, Quinn had previously said that the Poison Squad was still unstable.

This was precisely why.

At this moment, Quinn, who had pushed the door open, also scanned the people in the tavern.

The famous Hell's Kitchen!

Of course, he had heard of it.

But who was Quinn?

The Captain of the Osborn Group's secretly trained guard team, he had also served as an instructor for a certain U.S. special forces unit, proficient in combat, firearms, tactical deployment, and other fields.

He was a true top-tier warrior!

Although his physical fitness couldn't compare to the Poison Squad members behind him, under the same conditions, he alone could take on two or three of them!

Last night, when Luke Cage invaded their laboratory, if it weren't for this guy being invulnerable to blades and bullets, and also incredibly strong, Quinn alone could have taught him a lesson!

And today, Quinn wasn't here alone.

He brought the entire Poison Squad, and he didn't believe that Luke Cage could still escape!

"Luke Cage, or should I call you Karl Lucas?"

Quinn's gaze fell on Luke Cage behind the bar, his eyes cold, with a hint of resentment.

After all, it was this guy who caused him to be severely scolded by his boss yesterday.

No wonder Quinn hated Luke Cage.

"I didn't expect you to find me so quickly."

Luke Cage put down his rag and sighed.

He had originally planned to resign from Old Man's Tavern tonight and then find a place to hide for a while.

But he didn't expect them to come much faster than he had imagined.

It was only the next day, and they had already found his workplace!

You should know that this was Hell's Kitchen, and surveillance wasn't popular here at all.

Moreover, Luke Cage was an unregistered worker.

He hadn't registered any information at all.

Yet, they still found him.

Should he say, 'As expected of Osborn'?

"Hey! Who are you guys? This is Old Man's Tavern! Are you looking for trouble?"

At this moment, two burly black men at a nearby table stood up, and one of them flicked his cigarette ash, speaking fiercely to Quinn and his group.

Quinn glanced indifferently at the speaker.

Then, before anyone could react, he shot the guy in the head, blowing it off!

Bang!

After the gunshot, the other people present finally reacted.

This guy actually dared to kill someone in Old Man's Tavern!

Everyone became restless.

Especially the companion of the black man who was killed, who immediately pulled out a gun and aimed it at Quinn and his men.

But the next second—Quinn just took a step back.

Then, four members of the Poison Squad behind him rushed forward like shadows.

Immediately following that, a series of gunshots and screams erupted in the tavern.

In just about ten seconds, the gunshots ceased.

The four Poison Squad members stood coldly in place, still holding blood-dripping daggers.

And around them were the thugs who had just pulled out their guns.

Only now, they had all become corpses.

Blood stained the tavern floor, and a strong smell of blood assailed them!

Luke Cage looked at Quinn angrily.

While the latter smiled back at him.

"Are you coming with me willingly, or should I make you?" Quinn said.

The very next second after he finished speaking, a gunshot rang out, and small bullet holes appeared on the ground.

The Poison Squad member who had just been standing in that position had already jumped onto the ceiling, gripping it with gloves equipped with sharp claws on his hands, hanging there like a large black gecko.

"Old Man! Don't come out!"

Luke Cage shouted loudly, quickly jumping out from behind the bar and blocking the Old Man, who was walking out with a shotgun.

The Old Man was a black man with already half-white hair.

He looked somewhat similar to Luke Cage, even having two or three points of resemblance.

At this moment, Luke Cage stood in front of him, staring intently at Quinn and his group.

"I'll go with you! But you are not allowed to harm Old Man!"

Luke Cage said angrily.

"Alright," Quinn nodded.

His mission was to capture Luke Cage; as for the Old Man and such, he didn't care at all.

Just like the dead people on the ground, whether they lived or died, it didn't matter to him!

"Luke!"

The Old Man grabbed Luke Cage, still wanting to say something more.

But Luke Cage turned his head and shook his head at him, indicating that his mind was made up.

"Old Man, you must take good care of yourself from now on!"

Luke Cage hugged the Old Man, patting him on the back.

Then he let go, turned, and said to Quinn, "Let's go, remember what you said!"

Quinn smiled and gestured for him to proceed.

Luke Cage didn't give him a good look.

He walked straight out of the tavern.

"Luke!"

Behind him, the Old Man called out Luke Cage's name, while glaring fiercely at Quinn and his men.

However, Quinn completely ignored his gaze.
